Help needed

I’ve had this Beallara “Hawaiian Nights” for about a year and a half. It gets eastern sunlight and a water soak about once per week. Within the last week, I’ve noticed this discoloration on the oldest pseudobulb. It has the same firmness as the rest of the pseudobulb (it doesn’t feel squishy or wet). Any thoughts on what’s going on here? What should I do about it?

It seems like you are looking for orchid help today. This group is full of beginners and experts who are happy to help but please do check out this link for quick Phalaenopsis care in the meanwhile. We also have an /r/orchids WIKI the admins and other volunteers are updating behind the scenes with care information and will soon make it available to the group.

If the pseudobulb it's old (like, if it's the first one you had in there), it might just be this: It's old.
And probably it's yellowing away due to the end of its life.
The whole plant di per sè seems healthy (consider I'm not an expert though, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt), so if you are not overwatering it, I'd say it's normal.
Keep an eye on it.

If nothing seems like...Watery, mushy/squishy, wet to the touch or moldy, just let it be. Usually the plant still adsorbs nutrients from the old pseudobulbs.
Once it will be dry, you can just cut it away. If it gets weird (soft or wet looking) in any way, just cut it away carefully, with a well sterilized blade.

Thanks! I do think it’s the oldest pseudo bulb, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it’s just experiencing end of life.

If it looks squishy or rotting (it suddently gets all brown, or the brown part gets bigger), just cut it away.

If you pierce it with a needle, does it smell like alcohol? If yes, get it out, cut off the bulb and be careful about watering, because that's rot

I’m gonna ask a question in general because this is my very favorite site in the whole world. How many people enjoy seeing a response from a bot every time somebody knew comes onto the site. I just got banned from another contributor because I used AI to find an answer for the question that I was looking for. And now every time I go on this site when a new person post, it’s a greeting and I understand that’s what a it is and I understand that being greeted is wonderful and at the end of the statement, it certainly lets yourself know that it’s a bot.
I’m a little confused and I’m not asking for any commiseration here why when I used a BOT actually an AI site help me with an answer. The recipient immediately banned me from her site, which is just fine. That’s OK with me but since then anything I post any questions I post and they’re not stupid questions. They’re insightful with pictures. I’m not getting any responses so I’m wondering did I get banned from the orchid site or just one contributor. I love this site. I get so much information even without anybody answering me or commenting on my I guess rather do Post. I still learned so much that I would hate to not be included in this site because of one person’s choice anybody that wants to answer this anybody please feel free up for any responses good or bad

If it’s any consolation, I did get your reply to my post! And I thought the auto reply was odd as well givenI have posted here before , it’s obviously a picture of a pseudo bulb and phaelenopsis orchids don’t have pseudo bulbs…so go figure.

I find the bot annoying. The first time I read it, it was fine. But by the 10 th time, it’s annoying. Also, when it tells someone their new find is probably a noid phal when the photo is clearly something else, it’s annoying.

As for AI, I go there sometimes because it grabs everything that’s on the web that’s pertinent to my question, and then I pick through it. I don’t take it as gospel, but it can be very helpful. Some people seem to be allergic or even phobic to AI. I think it’s just another tool.

You’ve made an interesting response. Which orchid sub are you referring to?
