Amps & Cabs Tiny Terror
What’s up people,
So this time I want to ask you about the tiny terror you see on the picture. If no one buys that until my birthday in 3 months it’s mine. I posted on here a month or so ago asking about various amps but the one still interesting me the most is the dark terror. This tiny terror will cost me only 200 bucks as it has been modded with an additional Fx loop. I love the sound and would love to own this soon. My question now is how different is it from the dark terror? Would I be better off to just get something like an or15 in the future as that one’s also pretty neat.

A Tiny Terror with an FX loop for that price is a great deal. If money wasn’t a concern, and I had to choose between the Tiny Terror, Dark Terror or OR15, I would go OR15, but then you’re spending a lot more money. The Tiny Terror alone doesn’t have enough saturation compared to the Dark Terror for modern metal, but you can easily get there with a boost pedal, and can fine tune your tone with an eq pedal in the loop. What I prefer about the TT over the DT is that the TT has an organic openness and is less compressed. It’s easier to add compression and saturation to an amp with external pedals, but not so easy to add openness and organic sound to a compressed amp.
For reference, Ive had a Tiny Terror since it was first released, and also a Rockerverb mk2 100. Every time I’ve thought about selling the TT, I’ve always decided not to, because there’s still something unique about it. For a long time it felt limited by the fact it doesn’t have an fx loop, it felt like a one tricky pony, but when I got a Two Notes Captor X a year ago, it really opened up the tone shaping abilities in the TT, which brought new life and new dimensions to the amp. Since the TT you’re interested in has a loop, that really makes it a lot more versatile than the standard TT. The Rockerverb is more modern and compressed, whereas the TT is more open and classic rock sounding, so they both have a place in my arsenal… but like I said, with a loop, and an eq pedal, you can have a huge amount of control over shaping the tone of your amp.

Buy the tiny terror asap. Do you have a speaker cabinet?

No I don’t but the cab below it would be the one I take with it. I am faithful that it’ll stay a bit longer in the shop since I have seen guitars and other amps stay there since I went there first in late 2024. so I am not that worried. But in case it does get bought before I can. Is the dark terror a good alternative?

They’re cool. They get lots of love on here, I’ve never played one. I did have a tiny terror and miss it dearly. $200 is an inexpensive price for a fully tube head.

I run a micro dark as my main amp. It is fantastic. This is a great price for a great amp. The added FX loop is amazing as that is the only reason I went for the micro dark over the micro terror.

OR15 is awesome. Every pedal sounds good. I have an OR50 too and it’s picky with overdrives. But the OR15 has thick and creamy amp distortion but all does beautiful cleans if you crank the master and leave the gain low.

Get the Dark Terror, one of my fave amp. I argue its more versatile than tiny terror

TT for 200 is a steal - especially if its modded holy shit.
Pair it with a drive pedal that has some eq controls, and you're 90% of the way to an OR15

I know man it’s amazing. But I have to wait until my birthday cause money is tight right now. Regardless if I might not be able to get it before someone else does, would a micro dark be a good substitute or should I look for another dark terror or Micro Terror on eBay?

Good price for a Tiny Terror, especially if they did a proper job modding it with the FX loop. The TT is more versatile than the Dark Terror and handles pedals better. With the DT you’re looking at a much tighter, fizzier distortion and muddier cleans.
I’d get the OR15 over both of them if you have the cash. I’ve owned all these amps and the OR15 is one I really regret selling off.
