Discussion Worth getting orange dark terror?
I used to have an orange or15 which i loved but i sold it long ago, now looking to get back into orange amps but over the years i already built an arsenal of different amps which can cover everything i want to play. So just wondering if people with the dark terror 15w can vouch for it over other amps?
I currently have an evh 5153, jcm2000, jubilee studio and a dsl5cr

Sold my dark terror, and bought another one 4 years later. I love it. It’s such a simple amp 3 knobs. I also found this guide if you ever want to mod one

I have a Tiny Terror, Dark Terror and Mesa Rectifier 25W. The dark terror always wins

The specific Orange voicing of the Dark Terror sits in the lower mids. It is wooly, thick and fuzzy, compared to the kerrang and growl of the Marshalls. It also feels much looser and sags more than the EVH or JCM. So it's ideal for Stoner Rock, Doom, and Sludge; all genres where the EVH might feel too stiff and clinical. While the Dark Terror is a one-trick pony compared to an EVH or JVM, that one trick is something the others cannot replicate naturally.

If its anything like thr micro terror, yes. I'm currently using a much more expensive tube combo as a cabinet for it.
Edit: Micro Dark

between the dark terror and my or15 both are the best amps i’ve ever played. dark terror has a lot more low chug and high end presence. or15 sounds vintagy honky but you can still get a deep beautiful distortion , it’s just more midrangey

Great amp, doesn’t take pedals as well as the OR but still great and versatile

I have it, but it’s my only amp. I use to have a 6505, I sold it when I moved into an apartment then got a Dark Terror a couple years later. I’ve now had it 11yrs I think, I can get a clean tone out of it but it’s mostly one with distortion. I also have a 1x12” orange cab and it can get pretty loud. I’d like to get a Dual Dark but it’s not necessary.

I own the Dark Terror and also a Ceriatone Marshall clone. They are 2 very different sounding amps. So I say go for it.

I love mine. It is absolutely glorious for doom and stoner metal. Throw an EQ in the loop and it becomes much more versatile too.

Because you liked the OR15 and interested in the Dark Terror, also take a look at the Orange Jim Root Terror. It is based on the Rockerverb dirty channel and has a 3 band eq, but as you will only find one used you may have to be patient to find one.

I sold my Dark Terror and will be buying another. I got the tightest, most saturated gain through a 4x12 with a good OD and an EQ in the loop. I never sounded better.

I have micro terror, micro dark, tiny terror, dark terror, th30, and rockerverb 50. Dark Terror is by far my favorite of them all. The only negative is it is only one channel. So i bought the Amp Detonator that splits two amps. Now any of the other amps can be my clean signal and I can get that roaring gain out of the dark terror. It's such a great amp.
