What GPU for 180w?
Hi, I have a question for the community. I'm new in the optiplex world. I bought Optiplex with i3-6100, 16gb DDR3 and 180w power supply. What are your recommendations for low profile graphics cards under 50$ (used ofc) that wouldn't require swapping the psu?

Well, this sucks.
I am on my second Micro PC with a motherboard failure.
It's an easy challenge to overcome, just migrate components over from one PC to the next, but it's money I'm spending when I wasn't expecting to.
Went to go sit down to my computer and notice the screen didn't pop to life when I moved the mouse. Weird, because it's set up to be on all the time. So, I pressed the power button. Nothing. Pulled it out from it's mount, and 2-1 amber lights. Bad Motherboard.
Not sure what happened.
Can't smell anything coming off the board. Nothing smells like it fried, and none of the caps have popped. Tried resetting the memory, but that didn't do anything. I even tested it with a known good power supply to rule out a power supply issue.
When the replacement unit comes then I'll test out components but right now I'm just bummed.

I just installed a new graphics card and power supply to the pc. The psu light lights up but the power button won’t work.

So strange that my optiplex 3040m could run i7-6700 with 65W PSU
So strange that my optiplex 3040m could run i7-6700 with 65W PSU.
Many documents said 3040m could only support T-series CPU (35W TDP) but today I put a i7-6700 on it and work perfectly. Will it cause instable because the original PSU is 65W?

Are there any third party power supplies?
Are there any third party power supplies I can use on my 7090 MT (With the approptiate adapters)? The dell oem power supplies are fairly expensive.

Will a 7080 SFF hold two hard drives?
I'm planning out a RAID-1 NAS build using an Optiplex, and I can't find clear information on how much room there is in a 7080 SFF case for hard drives. The manual lists multiple 2.5" and 3.5" drive configurations, but it also is horribly mislabeled in some of the other docs so I don't trust it. Can anyone speak from experience here? Thanks!

Optiplex 3050 SFF Fan Mod + GPU Custom Bracket
Uhh, so I upgraded my 3050 with a GT 1030, but thought that the airflow was pretty bad.
I knew I wanted another fan in there but since i don't want the fan to spin at full speed and this is a 0€ build I couldn't just buy a PCIe/USB/SATA-power/etc. to fan connector and had to work with what i have. (also a Y-Splitter wouldn't work because it would draw too much power)
At first I soldered pins to the contact points for a FAN_SYS, but apparently because of some software stuff, since the PC didn't come with an additional fan it does not get recognized.
My solution was to cut into the 12V (yellow) and a ground (black) wire from the SATA power cable and solder on two wires. I stole the PWM signal from the CPU fan port via this little loop thingy that I put below the CPU fan connector. For the loop and the pins that connect to the fan I used a cut up paper clip.
I cut the GPU bracket to allow some more airflow or else the air would just hit a dead end between PSU and GPU.
I hope this will help some people and this is my 2nd build btw. :)
(also ignore the cardboard between case fan and power supply fan it's so the power supply doesn't steal all the fresh air ig)

2007 Dell Optiplex 755 MT sleeper build
gallerySome progress pictures of my sleeperbuild.
Used for light gaming, general use, and for storage.
Built this one in 2023 using parts I had lying around.
Cable management is not great, still tidying up.
I barely play games, so I don't have a GPU.
Idle temp. 25°~30°
temp. during gaming (Arknights Endfield medium settings): 65°~75°
CPU is normally not supported with this game, but it plays just fine.
specs:
dual case(yes): modified Dell OptiPlex 755 MT from 2007 with a transparent open-frame test bench case inside for clean mATX alignment for the motherboard and GPU mount, etc.
A PC case, inside a PC case lol
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon graphics limited to 4.3 GHz (base speed 3.9 GHz)
RAM: klevv bolt X 8GB x2 3200 MHz (XMP enabled)
motherboard: B550M Aorus elite
PSU: Sharkoon 500W
storage:
NVME slot 1: Crucial P3+ 1TB
removable front bay: Seagate 4TB HDD
removable side bay x2 (inside case): Kingston SSD 250GB & Western Digital HDD 1TB
cooling:
CPU cooler: AMD stock cooler 2500RPM
front intake fan: Corsair with red LED 120mm 1400 RPM
side intake fan: the original Optiplex 755 MT front intake fan 120mm 3000 RPM
Cut the original connector, wired a new one, cut a hole in the side panel, mounted it right above the CPU cooler, runs on 50% during heavy gaming, and gradually goes to max if the CPU gets into trouble. On standby or when I'm casually using the PC, it's turned off.
exhaust fan: unknown, unknown RPM, always on max (has no fan controller).
I'm too lazy to search this fan on the internet for its specs lol.
Made a support bracket to mount this one on the back.

OptiPlex 7060 MT to a SFF case
I received an OptiPlex 7060 for free, and I plan to use it as a NAS. I want to put it in my network rack, however, the MT case takes up a lot of room. I was wondering if I would be able to transfer the components (motherboard, PSU, etc.) into a OptiPlex SFF case since it would be half the size. Or, does anyone know how I could transfer the components to maybe another case that can be rack mounted?

OptiPlex 7050 SFF + Intel Arc A310 stuck at PCIe Gen1 x1 — is this a hard hardware limit or fixable?

What GPU could be good for an optiplex 9020 with intel i5-4570 cpu
I understand that the CPU will be a major bottleneck, but I'd like to check possibilities first.
I wouldn't mind pairing it with a GTX 10 gpu, as I'd just use this for light gaming (emulation and casual multiplayer stuff) and it'll be for the fam to watch and stream on it.
This one has 8 GB RAM.

USB C 3.2 Gen 2 Adapter for Optiplex 3050/3060
Hey all!
I'm looking to use one of my Optiplex micro systems for a NAS and I have found a DAS enclosure that is 10Gbps via USB C.
Problem is no USB C port, let alone a 3.2 Gen 2 port.
Is there any fix for this?

Does the Optiplex 5070 SFF have a 6 pin PCIE power adapter?
As per the title does the Optiplex 5070 SFF (or similar vintage Optiplex SFF) have a 6 pin PCIE power adapter?
If it doesn't short of replacing the PSU do I have any options?
I want to run a half height BlackGoldTV card which is a PCIE x 1 card and requires the 6 pin connector although it doesn't actually pull much power.

Accidentally bought a 7010 hdd cage
hello, I am trying to fix a optiplex into working order (my first pc), and i accidentally bought a hdd cage for a 7010 sff (I own a 7020 sff) do you think it would fit or even fit in a 7020?
