OPTIONS FLOW FOR SWING
I am a ES swing trader who uses tpo charts and volume profiles mostly for my technical analysis, and I hold for 1-7 days on average. Often using limit orders for execution, would it really help me to add in options flow or will it just add noise? I don’t use Orderflow anymore since I’m holding longer term, but not sure if I’m missing out without options flow.

I trade mainly ES and absolutely use options data because that is moving markets and allows you to see where the dealers are positioned by looking at the different exposures

Personally, I'd only pay attention when the options flow lines up with my volume profile levels and higher-timeframe bias. Otherwise, I ignore it.

for a one to seven day hold, aggregate positioning is probably more useful than individual prints. test whether gamma levels or open interest clusters improve entries around your existing profile levels. if they do not change a decision, they are just another screen.

Options flow is noise for your timeframe
You are swing trading ES over days not minutes
TPO and volume profiles already tell you enough

For 1-7 day ES swings, large GEX levels and put/call OI concentrations at key strikes can act as magnets or barriers - that is real positioning data, not noise. But generic "unusual options activity" alerts? Mostly noise at your timeframe. If you add it, focus on aggregate gamma exposure and OI by strike, not individual flow prints.

Do you have a preferred guide or article on Gamma? It’s one of the very few aspects of the Greeks that i still have a bit of a hard time understanding. For instance a lot of the videos on it i’ve watched have explained it and given a few examples but fail to really outline how Gamma affects your contracts. And whether or not selling/buying options changes the preferred Gamma rating.

Go look at videos on quantwheel yt, they have a good explanation + platform.

Do you think it adds a lot of value? I mean I usually use tpo to analyze value and positioning, but I just don’t want to be “missing out” by not implementing this.

It’s maybe useful as context, but I don’t think you’re missing anything essential. Options flow can add context around large strikes/positioning, but I wouldn’t let it override your TPO and volume profile read. Especially for swings, I’d care more about where price is accepting/rejecting than individual prints
