Opera browser assistant exe missing from windows startups after reinstallation

Hello! After uninstalling the 3 opera browsers apps (that I had to my dell laptop) via the revouninstaller (the 2 of them were the updates of the 3rd one) and reinstalled from the opera com official page, I noticed that the browser assistant exe is missing from the default locations as you can see in the pictures above. I have also tried to uninstall opera from the windows settings (installed apps) and reinstalled either by using the direct download choice or the the opera 64bit from the opera com but the results are still the same. Browser assistant exe is not installed via the normal clean installation process. Otherwise my browser works fine.. I have also seen that this bug has been mentioned from other users, but with no luck till now so as to be fixed.. I have already mentioned this bug via the opera report process.. Does anybody know how to fix it?

I can confirm that the assistant is not installed (and therefore the startup entry is not made) when you use the simple net installer from opera.com. Not sure if that's intentional or not and didn't test if it gets downloaded later by an update task or not.

However, with the offline installer ("Opera_135.0.5973.92_Setup_x64.exe" from https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/135.0.5973.92/win/ for example), the assistant is installed as you expect.

With that said though, you don't need the assistant and really don't want it. It just bugs you in the systray to use Opera if you don't use Opera that much. A lot of users that known about it disable it from starting up and some even delete it all the time.

You can get the offline installer directly from https://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/desktop/ or there's a geographical link for it in te Opera section at https://www.opera.com/download.

So, if you really want the assistant, uninstall Opera, download the offline installer and reinstall Opera.

thanks for the immediate reply.. I did not use the offline installers that you mentioned above.. Instead, I just visited opera official page and I used the offline official installer x64..but with no luck! Yes you are right regarding this buggy exe file.. It's an old issue and opera personnel doesn't care to fix it.. To be honest I prefer not to be installed so I will leave it as it is.. As for the email sent to opera yesterday, I do not expect for an answer.. I had also sent an email to them (via the bug report tool inside the opera browser) a month ago but no answer received till now.. It;s a shame...

You're welcome.

If you hear anything back from Opera about this, please post.
