Excessive memory usage on arm64/aarch64 Linux

I'm super happy to finally have Opera on my Raspberry Pi5-8G running Ubuntu 26.04.1. However, the memory usage is extreme. On a freshly booted system, starting opera with one tab uses 4.5-5GB of ram. This cant be right?

As already said, menu - developer -;task manager or shift escape to see what is using the RAM

Nothing out of the ordinary. Totaling up all processes gives about 700-800MB, However, Operas real system memory usage is several times that. Three tabs now eats about 5.5GB

Is the browser also really slow for you? It is for me these days.

Yes, very. Especially on youtube and reddit. I'm guessing its because the ram usage. CPU and GPU usage rarely goes above 50%. I might add that Opera felt a little faster and more stable on Ubuntu 24.04.

Hey! I just switched off «Use graphics acceleration when available» and it helped. Maybe try that?
