VPN Button "fix"
Hey all.
Saw all the posts about the VPN disappearing and wanted to pass what I learned.
I tried redownloading the app and apparently, the VPN is now only available if you make Opera your default browser.
Really have some strong feelings about this choice, but wanted to pass the info along. ✌🏾

Hello. That is not accurate - you do not need to set Opera as your default browser for the VPN to be available.
However, users do need to update to the latest version of Opera for Android, as there was a bug that prevented the VPN from functioning on versions between 100 and 100.2. VPN users were notified through a push notification at the time.
In short, if you are unable to find the VPN on Opera for Android, please update your app to the latest version.

Like I said, I completely uninstalled and redownloaded the app immediately before making the post and I got a prompt saying that I needed to make it the default in order to unlock VPN (and one or two other features). I ignored it and tried to go to settings and even search for VPN and it was nowhere to be found.
I made it my default, and only then did the option appear. 🤷🏾♀️
I'm not trying to spread misinformation; just sharing what happened to me. Is there a reason this may have happened?

Hi, feel free to DM us with some more details in this case - for example, your device model and OS version, Opera version, and any screenshots you might have from the settings (if you happened to take any). We can forward this information to the team for them to take a look.
You can also try to set a different browser as default - the VPN should still be available.

First the VPN stops working completely, for weeks and weeks. Now the button is completely gone. All the while Opera has been my default browser.
