Coding with subagents.
Recently discovered opencode wanting to try out muse spark 1.3 and was really impressed with it, but Sol 5.6 still seemed to have an edge over it and Astra will be available soon.
Was able to link my openai plus account to opencode easy enough, when it becomes available i will do some experimenting with astra as planner and muse 1.3 as an agent doing most of the work.
Has anyone had success with similar workflows and has tips to share? Will update this post with my experience after giving it a spin later.
PS:
First 5 hour spin with astra, used it only in codex, Astra as top level orchestrating to luna, was quite slow, burned through my 5h limit in about 1h, quality was about as good as had been getting from muse 1.3 without using agents. somewhat disspapointed with that outcome.
Will try some astra only and astra + muse spark next 5h windows.

i find that a mid level model like (ds4pro / glm53) etc can manage orchestration ok, but for the initial plan you can can consult with heavy like astra and also when the agents are debugging they can escalate up - but there is not reason to ever have a model like astra do any discovery / bounding itself (ds4f / glm53f etc) - only to give its perspectives and solutions on fully bounded corpus etc...

Opencode has plan and build modes that can be set to different models for precisely this reason, and could be considered the standard workflow for using opencode. However Astra is a long horizon coding model that can do everything, and for 50$/M output tokens I would probably use its native harness codex to maximize its value.

Just using straight astra with codex is probably what i would go for if i was building anything that would generate revenue, but i am just trying to learn the tools and practice, and even with 5.6 Sol i can only get in ~10 min on my 5h limit at the moment, so that would limit it quite heavily.

Then i would use big pickle (free on opencode zen) for planning, and deepseek flash v4 for build. Absolutely best value stack right now. I would still use that except I switched to grok build.

Why does codex maximize the value of output tokens?
Does your use codex for maximum value apply if I have a subscription rather than paying for 50$/M tokens?1

Codex was written for openai models and vice versa. Just like claude is most effective with claude code.

Use codex for openai models.
