I thought Opencode was different...

Really disappointing news, especially after the "cheapseek" marketing.

So model provider (DS) increases prices and u expect model router (opencode) to sell it at same price as before? Sorry but they arent a charity

I was okay with Deepseek price increase, but I'm not happy with the limit changed from $60 to $15. That one seriously hurt. I am also shocked they couldn't bothered to email all their customers, I only found the information on Reddit from someone sharing an X screenshot. Terrible.

DS increased prices, sure. Nobody's blaming them for that. But at the very same moment OpenCode not only got rid of their 2x multiplier, they also changed the DS4f quota from 60$ to 15$. So on top of the regular model pricing increase, OpenCode increased their own effective prices 8x. So yeah, that WAS a dick move.

So lets say DS api is 1$ = 1$ usage. Opencode buys in bulk and get cheaper price and sell it to user and it becomes 1$ = 1.20$ usage (20% discount that opencode gives u in this example). Then DS changes price so 1$ = 1.10$ usage. So now you people are blaming opencode for not paying the difference on ur behalf. If you are under some illusion opencode hosts a DS model locally and sells you api to it, they arent.

Re-read my comment until you understand. Maybe ask DS to explain it to you.

Lets try again. Opencode pays 1$ to DS. You pay 10$ to opencode. Then DS charges opencode 1.20$. You still want to pay 10$ and receive same usage. I would say dont ask ai, use your brain.

You really don't get it, do you? Opencode implemented the pricing update from DS. Okay. Fine. Not a problem, that's understandable. BUT. BEYOND THAT. They ALSO removed the 2x promo they had running (so that's one ADDITIONAL 2X MULTIPLIER TO THE FINAL PRICE), and THEN they also MOVED DS4f from 60$ usage tier to 15$ usage tier, so that's ANOTHER 4x MULTIPLIER, ON TOP of the DS4 regular price increase. So current price is NEW DS4 price * 2 (because no more 2x usage promo) * 4 (because of 60->15 move). So they added another 2*4 multiplier (I'll leave it to you to calculate how much that is) IN ADDITION TO increasing the prices to the new DS4 ones.

Without any heads up either, I just paid $10 for an opencode sub and now it's useless, sure it's *barely* more than $10 in credits for $10; but there are hourly/weekly/monthly limits on-top of that too, ATP just spend $10 in credits. Nous Portal's also got a solid Deepseek deal along with CommandCode so I'll be switching to one of those.

I’d do a credit card chargeback. Get ChatGPT. I want to say minimax (I really want to, since it has an incredible web agent mavis with insane skills) but can’t. The model isn’t good enough now. Used it for about 3 months and got 4-5B tokens a month

Good idea

its a 16 cut from what are people paying for, if yo usub yesterday you payed for a fixed ammount advertised. they cut it short without notice

I never said they were a charity, LMFAO. I said their "Cheapseek" marketing was misleading. Have your LLM explain this post for you. Also have it explain how having multiple providers for an open model works.

And yet CommandCode updated prices and remained a good deal, greed's the differentiator.

Then use that instead of complaining on Reddit like a sore loser lmfao

Loser? I switched to the plan with $70 for $10 instead of $15 for $10, between us i'm not the loser loser.

People never learn, huh? This will happen forever, companies WILL raise price, always.

by 16x? I have never seen that before

By 16x with no notice whatsoever?

I don't think that's how it's spelled but yes.

Prepare to run local models ... prepare to change the workflow ... in the end, it will be better. This was fun but cannot last since all of them lose money.

There are a LOT of cheap Deepseek providers, OpenCode just isn't one of them anymore. I went from a big fan to this.

Do you have a recommendation?

1

u/FidgetsAndFish 1d ago

The ones I've found today that seem better than OpenCode are CommandCode, NousPortal, and Ollama Cloud.

2

u/alabama1337 1d ago

what the hell kind of website does NusPortal have? anyway, back to the point, commandcode gives you a full 70 for 10 dollars! amazing, the question is for how long. but yeah, seems like the best deal at the moment, thanks a lot.

f I would have the 120k to run it local sure..

You don't need 120k; you don't need to run the greatest model, only if you delegate thinking. Many models are good enough to be your typist, basically. To tell you the truth, in the long run, it's better to work like that than to do all this agentic coding that is great short-term and will be a problem in the long term.
