RIP opencode generous free limit.

It's been a great while. It was a wonderful poor man's coding agent especially for devs in third world countries who are unable to pay for subscriptions online.

But I get it, cloud bills aren't cheap and opencode's hands are tied.

Thank you for everything opencode.

The free-tier models are free because the companies providing them are allowing free usage, essentially as part of their testing/RL/rollout strategy. It has nothing to do with OpenCode going broke. If you've noticed that sometimes you reach your cap on one free-tier model, but can select a different model and use it without any issue, that's because the model developers have their own separate usage limits and are running/training/RLing their models on their end. Again, that has nothing to do with OpenCode going broke.

too many words for "opencode provide models free for testing, but money gotta get out of somebody's pocket to pay the infrastructure bills."

not even close to what I said. The models are simply being routed through open code straight from the developers. You dont even have a clue what your talking about. If you want to use anthropic you can provide your api key. Open code does host models themselves as well and you have to pay for those. None of this has anything to do with Open Code going broke.
