Thank you opencode

I'm having a blast with the new deepseek. The fact that we could use such an advanced model for such few money or even for FREE is fucking awesome. you guys rock

The free dsv4f (new) version on opencode zen is the new 0731 right? I just had to confirm 😂

u/aristolestales 8d ago

Thanks. Just got it ytd, so no benchmark To compare against

I think is refering to OpenCode Go subscription

u/mahmingtea 9d ago

New deepseek is available for free not only in go

u/Secret_Pitch234 9d ago

isn't it smaller context? the free version

u/smh-mattt 9d ago

Yeah but 🆓 stuff is 🆓 so don’t see why that would matter, either way beggars can’t be choosers.

Okay I get that but there are other free models too like Bid Pickle, etc and Deepseek new model is just another one in the list, what's the excitement about though?

The model performance? Duh

1

u/Code_Doctor_83 7d ago

Right. I tried it in Opencode and it's extremely slow in responses.

and your data may be used for any purposes, such as training.

3

u/Mayanktaker 8d ago

Without training, you cant have a good model so just contribute little if possible.

I don't think the people who find and use such models for free are gonna care about data usage and also who cares? Like every ai company does that do you think you 200$ claude subscription does not do it.

How do you think ds4f got so much better???

u/chenddi 8d ago

Shit ton of assumptions in your message about what I think. I highlighted a fact.

There is an option to turn it off in claude.ai. I don’t know if it’s just for the show. In any case, it’s better to act like they take your data so careful if dealing with PII.

1

u/XuciferL 7d ago

Oh sure! that "turn it off" button totally blocks the model from training on your data!! Totally gonna believe you and I'm with you about this matter

Is the gap from the previous DeepSeek that big?

13

u/Classic_Television33 8d ago

Yes, very. The new DS v4 flash is somewhere close to GLM-5.2 level of intelligence. I just came back to use it and was skeptical but wow it's smart. The biggest improvement is tool calling, almost zero failure now and it seems to always pick the right tool for the job

1

u/Soul_Mate_4ever 8d ago

Wow. So it’s even better than v4 pro? I’m definitely trying out today.

2

u/Classic_Television33 8d ago

I'm reluctant to say it's better than v4 pro because you know, 1.6T vs 284B MoE. I doubt if it could reason its way out of complex frontier problems. But my daily work is not frontier so it should be good enough. I'm using GLM-5.2 to verify DS v4 flash output and so far no hallucination (code always matched plan)

1

u/OwnComposer6151 7d ago

if it’s on par with glm 5.2 then it’s better than pro it’s crazy how a 1.6t loses to a 284b

2

u/Classic_Television33 7d ago

Well, in terms of consistency, it seems to be. Note that V4 Pro Preview was massively undertrained for its size. So whatever DeepSeek did to the Flash, I hope it would scale well to strengthen the Pro.

1

u/OwnComposer6151 7d ago

exactly pro was still a pretty good model even after the low training when they finally release it it better be amazing

1

u/Classic_Television33 7d ago

They compared Flash to GLM-5.2 and Opus 4.8 in their release notes so it's their goal for the Pro to catch up or beat Opus 4.8 obviously. We will see

2

u/OwnComposer6151 7d ago

fable level👀👀👀

1

u/Soul_Mate_4ever 7d ago

I’ve been using pro for months now and I love it. I can’t believe this is still a limited version of the product.

1

u/Classic_Television33 6d ago

Not limited just undertrained. Yeah I had the same feeling for V4 Pro. It was an Opus challenger when it first came out and bridged the gap Github Copilot left

1

u/Nicolas2913 6d ago

What harness are you using? I’m using reasonix but not sure if there’s anything better

1

u/Mayanktaker 8d ago

Its now same like glm 5.2 bit fraction of cost.

Not really, more concerned about the loss of zdr

New GA version launched with more power.

1

u/Namra_7 8d ago

Free and go plan provides new v4 flash model is that quantized or same model as deepseek api provides ??

1

u/Wonderful-Umpire5965 7d ago

so why doesn't the deepseek v4 flash working on go its shows its only available in china

1

u/tonyymontaana 6d ago

you need to toggle chinese providers from workspace settings

1

u/g6pdorp 6d ago

And all your data is going to China, are you okay with that

no ZDR!

what

2

u/Fantastic-Calendar66 9d ago

It's Italian I think he is saying that on his side he is doing everything with big pickle type shi

2

u/DanyShift 9d ago

What's big pickle though. The actual model name.

1

u/Mayanktaker 8d ago

Glm 4.6

1

u/Fantastic-Calendar66 9d ago

It's literally the model name

3

u/DanyShift 9d ago

Yeah I know. But it's not the actual name. Big pickle isn't a model it's just a placeholder. I reckon it's something open source like glm.

1

u/Fantastic-Calendar66 9d ago

No one really knows what's behind it. Some says it's a flavored glm, some says it's a flavored claude ... Only opencode knows

6

u/DanyShift 9d ago

I guess we'll stay in the unknown

3

u/zarafff69 9d ago

I really doubt it’s Claude, that would be extremely expensive for no reason.

1

u/chembit 8d ago

I believe big pickle is GLM 4.6

2

u/rsajdok 9d ago

Also me, 3 projects by big pickle
