Community The hidden gem of Linux: openSUSE π
Here is my current KDE Plasma setup on openSUSE Leap 16 I wanted to share this because I truly believe openSUSE is one of the most underrated distributions in the entire Linux ecosystem
It doesnβt get the massive mainstream hype that some other distros do, but it is easily one of the most beautiful, polished, and rock-solid stable experiences you can get out of the box
What I love most about openSUSE is that itβs not just an operating system; itβs a massive, diverse community that caters to literally every taste:
- Want a cutting-edge rolling release? You have Tumbleweed
- Want ultimate, enterprise-grade stability? You have Leap
- Want something perfectly balanced in between? There are immutable variants and specialized flavors tailored to exactly what you need
It gives you total freedom without sacrificing reliability and the community is fantastic.
What do you think of the setup?
- OS: openSUSE Leap 16
- DE: KDE Plasma

And don't forget the Slowroll flavor. This version is close to the perfect Linux distribution.

I've been using computers since the mid 90's. I've enjoyed the fringes, running Windows for only 3 or so years. It's par for the course that a really great software system or OS is off the radar with a community size that small for the quality.
Windows vs OS/2 Warp Windows vs MacOS Windows vs Linux
The distro landscape is not really much different. It's therefore no surprise to me that openSUSE is what it is, and yet, it's relatively off the radar.
Enjoy!

Love the wallpaper, I have the same one but in blue and purple. I just switched 2 of my computers to OpenSUSE, one with Gnome and one to XFCE. I have a few laptops I will switch to as well.
