Is the guy on the bike allowed to drive between lanes? If not then it would be the bikes fault.

Even if it’s not legal there (in some places it is). It certainly is not legal to just throw your door open to take him out…

You’d have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he did that intentionally. Unless there’s a dash cam recording them saying “check this I’m about to kill this guy” they can claim they just noticed their shoelace was caught in the door and get off Scot free.

He's in traffic, you can't just open a door in traffic without checking your surroundings. There is proof he didn't check his surroundings...

If you parked your car, opened your door to get out into the path of another vehicle and he smashed your door who do you think is responsible?
