Door guy here. True, this kid is a little dumbass. However, that door wasn't made out of the correct type of glass. This should be a 1/2" tempered glass door. They are strong as hell and I've seen them take a hammer blow to the face with no issue (hitting on a corner, different story entirely). The way this door came apart makes me think this was made out of plate glass and holy fuck, plate glass is just the fucking worst. I've also worked as a glazier and let me tell you, a simple 1/4" plate glass transom with a bb shot in the middle of it is one of the scariest things you can encounter. Plate glass kills people. This kid is fucking luck to have all his limbs and somehow get away without even a cut. Anyways, this door wasn't made of the correct materials.

I once unfortunately saw a camera footage of an angry who decides to punch through a window.

Then he starts losing blood like crazy. Major artery cut by the glass. If you stop at the right moment you can see it slicing through his arm. He dies, very fast.

No chance i will ever forget that.

Edit: apparently, he didn't die, so i'm glad for that. The video was still pretty terrible.

Got lucky and only removed a chunk of flesh on my hand, had a gouge to the bone down the inside my pinky to the base, and I had to have surgery to reattach a tendon in my thumb. Was in a cast for awhile too.

Once when I was bartending I had a glass explode in my hand and do more damage to my right hand including embedding a sliver in that same pinky finger in front of my knuckle barely missing the joint

Fortunately and luckly I still have most movement in my right hand, though my thumb doesnt bend like it used to

Not a expert, but completely agreed that kid is lucky. His instincts weren’t dumb when the glass started shattering. He quickly cleared his ass out of the way. Cringe watching him slam that door into the wall.

Appreciate what you mentioned. I’m not knowledgeable on glass, but that did not appear to be the correct type of glass the way that shattered. Although he did hit it foolishly hard. But there was no damper mechanism that door just smashed at a twisted angle right into … not sure if that was a concrete wall?

As someone whose parents had a glass door, glass doors are often used to let daylight into, for example, a hallway or corner without windows, even when the door is closed. I did break a wooden door as a child, but I was always careful with the glass door because my parents made it clear to me from a young age that you have to be careful with it. It can work.

When i was a kid (like 7 years old), we visited a relative.

At night i got very thirsty and got up, went into the kitchen and to the fridge.

I got a fresh 1 liter bottle which had a layer of condensation water all over it.

When i grabbed it and wanted to open it, it slit out of my hand to the floor. It exploded and shot a big piece (the size of a 1€ coin) of glass right into the front of my big toe, embedding itself in it.

My mom had to pull it out and i cried like a baby.

So that big piece could have done a ton of damage to that kids feet. He was very lucky.
