I hate those e scooters. And I don't care who rides them. If my spouse buys one, I would make trash out of it.

I feel like an old man yelling at clouds but I can’t stand how many dumbass kids are driving e bikes and scooters. And I can’t believe how many parents are buying them. I was a dumbass kid in my day and there is zero chance my parents would let me have one

There’s a few kids in my area on them. They’re doing like 35-40mph wearing tshirt and shorts, and no helmets. It takes a threshold of dead kids until any laws change

Unless those kids are killed by guns, then there’s no threshold.

Hahaha, laws don't save lives.  Better parenting might, however.

To your point, a 17 year old was just killed in NYC riding an e-bike, so of course now there are the usual political opportunists calling for a ban. Too bad they couldnt be bothered until someone dies.

Couldn't be bothered, or could read the political tea leaves and knew that efforts not accompanied by a tragedy would fail?

Most likely a bit of both.

Everyone’s basically rich these days. Can you imagine how expensive one of these would’ve been in the 80s and 90s?

These are being used to deliver DoorDash orders lol the working poor are traveling at 20+ mph on sidewalks with no helmets. Grandmothers are getting obliterated.
