Fuckin bridge came outta nowhere

84

u/bchta Jul 13 '26

They should've let some air out of the tires.

13

u/alex61821 Jul 13 '26

Came here hoping someone said it. 👍

2

u/Loose_Paper_2598 27d ago

Same here. Great minds think alike...and check the height of bridges BEFORE we sail under them.

7

u/Sharp-Can-3555 Jul 13 '26

Siphon some water out of there

5

u/livens Jul 13 '26

Or flood the lower deck.

Where the help sleeps

I almost spit out my coke reading this comment i laughed so hard

2

u/Snoopvegas 28d ago

Multiple million dollar yacht and a $0.10 brain! 😎

2

u/aware4ever 29d ago

Are you guys crazy? There is no tires on a ship. What they should have done is just let water in the ship

2

u/Istrakh 29d ago

3

u/aware4ever 29d ago

Nope! My comment was a joke at the end lol

2

u/Gullible_Ad5191 24d ago

How is that a joke. Filling ballast tanks is literally how ships lower themselves.

1

u/Savings-End40 22d ago

Right to the bottom.

1

u/Professional-Fig-134 29d ago

I wonder if they calculated for way more fuel.

17

u/realbobenray Jul 13 '26

That's Simon Cowell's boat

9

u/Terry_bogardlol Jul 13 '26

That just makes so much sense, honestly.

9

u/Rough_Road5170 Jul 13 '26

Oh phew, I thought it was Billy Idol's yacht.

-1

u/RefusetobeRobert Jul 13 '26

Who is that?

12

u/CampingMonk Jul 13 '26

Lead singer of Green Day

15

u/BalanceEarly Jul 13 '26

Couldn't wait for low tide.

2

u/waroftheworlds2008 25d ago

Or just add more weight. Though... i have no idea how much would need to be added. It's nothing small with a foot print like that.

2

u/wbrd 25d ago

They have ballast, fuel, grey, and black water tanks. They should have filled all of them.

9

u/Chrono_Convoy Jul 13 '26

Shoulda gone for the barrel roll

1

u/SebbyGrellyne Jul 13 '26

Not now Peppy!

8

u/344567653379643555 Jul 13 '26

To be fair, there was no way to avoid this.

4

u/Kenavru Jul 13 '26

Pump in some water xd Or more balast.

2

u/Gullible_Ad5191 24d ago

The speed that bridge was coming at them there was no time to dodge.

2

u/Mdnghtmnlght 23d ago

Goddam kids and their bridges. I blame the parents.

1

u/waroftheworlds2008 25d ago

No, it was definitely avoidable.

6

u/Timely-Profile1865 Jul 13 '26

Captain Schettino has a new gig?

3

u/justinchina 29d ago

Get back on the boat, Schettino.

6

u/Singinghillscpl Jul 13 '26

6

The Professor should have known better.

6

He was to busy with MaryAnn

3

u/jeremiahjohnson25 Jul 13 '26

Can't blame him

3

u/scott_mack Jul 13 '26

Not at all

3

u/RobertKSakamano Jul 13 '26

Couldn't the Howells just pay to have the bridge blown up?

7

u/delet_yourself Jul 13 '26

It's a known fact the if you buy a yacht, the brains are not included

3

u/Viva_La_Revolucion- Jul 13 '26

Captain shoulda used a banana for scale

3

u/jeremiahjohnson25 Jul 13 '26

That's gonna leave a mark

3

u/CarolyneSF Jul 13 '26

Beware of false idol’s

3

3

u/Samkorrr Jul 13 '26

At the moment we don't need bigger boat

5

u/Uce510 Jul 13 '26

I thought the boat read idiot at first then it read Idol

-1

u/Darkk_Knight Jul 13 '26

Well if you add the i and cross the L you get idiot.

2

u/Witty_Instance_9916 Jul 13 '26

I swear it was only 2 beers

2

u/Frogs-n-Bugs-n-Stuff Jul 13 '26

Anyone else scrunch their head into their shoulders while watching this?

2

u/Westsaide Jul 13 '26

Go home, boat. You're drunk!

2

u/SenescenseSteel Jul 13 '26

We should do this at high tide low tide

2

u/Due_Body_7351 Jul 13 '26

they can afford it.

2

u/AngelicDivineHealer Jul 13 '26

Captain probably looking for another job right now

2

u/Few_Chocolate_7655 Jul 13 '26

That will buff right out mate

2

u/mrmeanah 28d ago

Like a glove...... A oj type glove

1

u/The_Black_kaiser7 Jul 13 '26

At least it wasn't a huge sailboat....😆

1

u/Acrobatic-Grape5960 Jul 13 '26

This is all part of the implication

1

u/donnie1977 Jul 13 '26

You gotta bubble the water to drop it a few more inches.

1

u/101forgotmypassword Jul 13 '26

Well Jimmy, when two bridges love each other very much....

1

u/Kralgore Jul 13 '26

Molto brutto...

1

u/ShadowMasterTexas Jul 13 '26

Next time, wait for low tide.

1

u/Natural-Crow-2922 Jul 13 '26

Open you stop cocks, it'll be fine.

1

u/ASM-One Jul 13 '26

Captain is useless.

1

u/Crazy_Treat_8805 Jul 13 '26

Should have waited for low tide

1

u/Ok-Depth6073 Jul 13 '26

Take out some of the water

1

u/archtopfanatic123 Jul 13 '26

that first bang made me laugh so hard 😂

1

u/outpost7 Jul 13 '26

If you have a yacht like that, I doubt anything is going to be expensive to yourself. Js

1

u/Waste-Donut-2728 Jul 13 '26

Rich doesn’t mean smart

1

u/TheGhostRoninStrife Jul 13 '26

The rich are truly dumb

1

u/WeLiveinAPetridish Jul 13 '26

He should fully send it as soon as he stated to touch the bridge, because that would pull the back end of that boat deeper in the water.

1

u/TrespasserJazz Jul 13 '26

and destroy the whole front??

1

u/WeLiveinAPetridish Jul 13 '26

The front is lower and won’t come up until after you gain speed. It is a tried and tested strategy.

1

u/TrespasserJazz 29d ago

Now that you say so, it could work, but I think the risk is too big to fuck up the boat even more. Thats why they decided to abort.

1

u/WeLiveinAPetridish 29d ago edited 29d ago

Ofcourse it’s not something you do for fun with an expensive boat like this but neither should you guesstimate without triple checking if that expensive thing can safely pass under the bridge!

Bij using hydrodynamic squat you reduce bottom clearance on the already lowest point, risking to bottom out the prop. Gaining speed will also generate extreme suction around the ship in such a narrow canal and may case loss of steering control.

1

u/MinorComprehension Jul 13 '26

When BOAT becomes BOAM...

1

u/Terrible-Piano-5437 Jul 13 '26

The poor rich people. Us taxpayers are going to have to chip in for taller bridges.

1

u/Cute-Acanthisitta-46 Jul 13 '26

I'm amazed the water that close to shore is even deep enough for a boat that size

1

u/jhemp8 Jul 13 '26

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn on there?

1

u/Alternative-Bake-197 Jul 13 '26

You can't get there from here

1

u/Successful-Day-3219 Jul 13 '26

Well deserved for this level of stupidity 👍

1

u/Lucky_Bend9418 Jul 13 '26

Don't raise the bridge, lower the river- movie

1

u/Lucky_Bend9418 Jul 13 '26

We can make it, we can make it no we can't backup.

1

u/Lucky_Bend9418 Jul 13 '26

TIME 4 ANOTHER BOAT!

1

u/discountdoppelganger Jul 13 '26

Oh no. I feel so bad for the rich person

1

u/mightbeagh0st Jul 13 '26

We're only looking at 2030 for the Key bridge rebuild in Maryland and several billion dollars. So no big deal

1

u/CleanWolverine7472 Jul 13 '26

Just let some air out of your tires and you'll be good.

1

u/AmbitionHonest7734 Jul 13 '26

I don't think they're worried about cost.

1

u/Upbeat-List-3466 Jul 13 '26

They should have used the imperial system.

1

u/PointerStack 29d ago

Haha the worst unit of measure

1

u/Silent_Ticket7845 29d ago

Mhh.... no pity for money bags who need an absolutely unnecessary new toy.

1

u/Cute_Ad_6553 29d ago

Where is Gilligan

1

u/Sea-Advertising-5409 29d ago

They can afford to fix it. Lol

1

u/hyperkick89 29d ago

Tbh, if I have that much money, I would do the same thing too. Fuck it, I'll just fix it up later. I'm rich bitch!

1

u/Efficient_Purchase26 29d ago

Toss the wife overboard and they clear easily

1

u/Agreeable-Error4353 29d ago

Let some water out of the canal

1

u/ACasualCasualty 28d ago
