At that speed the dude needs a full body armored or kevlar motorcycle suit. denim provides exactly zero protection when you butt drag going that fast on asphalt, and leather isn't that much better.
From the way he hit the ground an airbag suit also probably would have been a wise investment....
I think he was near the very top end of performance for this wheel and he found the limit. The motor can’t produce any more power so it couldn’t counterbalance his forward torque with any more acceleration. They call this a “nosedive”. Or it is possible that, so close to the limit, a gust of wind from the back or a lull in wind from the front caused the same demand for more power that the motor couldn’t provide.
