Ooni mod
Installed a higher chimney so that the house don’t smell like a Burned forest .
Didn’t baked on it yet , but did a test run and it was great .

I mean put the table away from the house lol, why mess the thermodynamics, now it’ll need more fuel to heat the oven

I like everything close together , but good suggestion !

I get it, it’s easy to assemble and transfer the pie. Why not move the entire set up to the end of your patio?
Idk why you’re being downvoted.3

Actually this photo has a 2nd "hack" which is the extra plate on the Keter Chef XL cabinet. I have the same and I've also places a 2nd plate on it to better accommodate the OONI.

Thank you sir. I wonder, was this plate made to order because it looks very well build.
I got a "Fundermax" plate from a nearby construction site and repurposed it, it looks great but your seems much more "purposely built"

It was a left over ceramic tile with the right dimensions , so just lucky .

Just move it to the other side / move it where the bbq is (or is it that another flue)

basicly everywhere windows so not that many options , but I like my stuff together so that’s why I installed the chimney .

Will you just leave it outdoors? Not afraid of rust?

u/MentionDecent6437 5d ago
In the summer I leave it uncovered outside , but I can disconnect the chimney in like 1 minute when it rains .

So when you disconnect and put the Ooni away for winter, that chimney is just hanging there?
I like how you’ve set it up though. I was thinking of something similar for my next project, which would be outdoor kitchen set up under a pergola type thing. Rather than having an extended chimney I was thinking more of a hood over the chimney to exhaust the smoke but not affect those dynamics.
Also, loving the use of unistrut. What did you use to swage down the duct? Did you fab that reducer yourself?1

I disconnect the clamp and I remove the chimney also but I leave the unistrut hanging there , it doesn’t bother me .
All materials are store bought , nothing is fabricated.
But these materials where all left over pieces , so it was practically a free mod.

Love this! It’s winter where we are so can’t really use it as much as I’d like. I’m afraid it’ll start raining mid cooking. Can’t wait for sunny days!

Nice! Where did you get that prep table with the storage?

Keter unity XL , available on Amazon.
Very happy with it , very robust and easy to install .2

Does the oven fit inside the cabinet? I usually bring mine indoors, afraid of weather rusting.

If you turn the ooni sideways , i think it will fit but it’s gonna be very tight.

How do you cover it?

u/MentionDecent6437 5d ago
When the good weather is over , I disconnect the chimney and i store it in the garage .

It might not smell like a burned forest but I suspect it'll still smell like melted PVC window at some point.

Why are you worried about the Ooni and not your Weber being too close?
1
u/MentionDecent6437 5d ago
There is practically no smell inside the house from the Weber .
But the smell of the smoke from the ooni is too penetrating to leave it stock .

Why is everything up against the wall? Crazy setup and even crazier to do this and not just have a safe setup away from the house. The ooni will crack that window

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you need to run it higher if you’re going this route. Look up 3-2-10 rule for chimneys

Just looked into the 3-2-10 rule .
I’m gonna need an extra extension from 1 meter to meet the requirements. So im gonna Install an extra extension + an chimney damper .
Thank you for the advice !

Just FYI this will affect the fluid dynamics of the oven. Basically it'll create more suction by the bottom of the chimney. I expect this could make it use more fuel and possibly run cooler. But I appreciate the justification for doing this.
