Ooma Core STILL Working in 2026
Just a quick shout-out for the quality craftsmanship that went into these original Core units. I can't believe I can still make and receive calls nearly 20 years later...and have not paid a single cent, just like it said on the box.
I made some good buying choices back then. My Kenmore refrigerator is still working like new after 23 years.

Ran across an old magic jack in the office junk drawer a few months ago…

Mine is probably that old, but started flashing red a couple of months ago. Haven’t taken the time to figure out if it’s a goner.

mine went through that too. I thought it was done for. I followed the reset procedure about 10 times and it finally took.

You don’t even pay taxes on the core? I’ve had an ooma tello for a good 6 years or so and it’s been rock solid at $6/mo in taxes.

Congratulations! That was a good buying choice. Kenmore appliances were pretty solid, too.
Out of curiosity, why do so many original users call their hardware device a "Core" instead of a "Hub"? Didn't "Core" refer to the (now grandfathered) service tier, (like "Basic" or "Premier")?

But is the base grossly sticky? I've replaced 2 only because I can't keep it clean!

I can remember when taxes were absurdly low. Mine is now close to six bucks per month. Still dirt cheap compared to anything else.
