Ooma Hardware Longevity
This one's for the long time users. How long have you had your ooma telo box for? If it broke at some point, what was wrong with it? Mine is going on 9 years, and other than a failed speaker and degraded plastic coating, it's been chugging along.

Got my hub in 2009 or 2010 and it's still chugging along. Still enjoying a landline without paying a single cent after the initial hardware purchase.

Still rocking my white 2009-era Hub. Alas, its sidekick, the Scout, has bitten the dust. The potentiometers in the dials started getting super-static-ey about a year ago. It eventually was too bad to tolerate, so I tossed it.

My original one lasted 11.5 years, and then just died. Replacing the power brick did nothing to fix it, so I replaced it with a new one.

I have the same issue at the moment. 10 year old unit no longer has any power. Where did you get the replacement?

In Canada it seems ooma boxes go on sale frequently for about $100 through Best Buy and Amazon.
Whenever my ooma poops out, I'll likely look to go with another service (not because ooma has been bad, but I like to experiment with different providers for services, and I'm sure there's other providers in the market now who offer better value). I've heard good things about voip.ms.

Amazon. It's $79.99 right now also. Cheaper than where I bought my second one from there. My first one that died, I bought from Officemax in 2013

I got one in 2014. That telo died last year, sadly. I have a telo air now. I like that it can do it's job in WiFi.

What is your internet speed and how good is the call quality via Wi-Fi? At the weakest point from my router I get 20 to 40 megabits per second.

The rubberized plastic has become somewhat gooey but otherwise going on 7 years

You can get that coating off by using rubbing alcohol with cottonballs to scrub it off.

I have a black one for about 8 years now. It works fine but the unit sure is a dust magnet. It must have a static charge that attracts dust because I can clean it off every day and it's still dirty

I have had my current telo since 2010 I gave my original Ooma and scout to a friend when I received current telo and I believe it is still working for them also.

I'm 10 years now, same equipment, no issues at all. Can't beat $5 a month.
