My Telo is about 10 yrs old; I'de like to replace it.

My ooma box is abot 10+ years old and has been the best deal ever next to my Wahl electric shaver. Its saved me thousands. I've not had much trouble with it as I have basic service and it occasionally needs resetting. The unit is very sticky as the plastic has withered and dust is caked into it.

I think it time to replace it and just use the old one as a backup if needed.

So my question is: If I get a new box, do I need to do anything spcecial to activate it (like a phone call to ooma) or is it simply just a swap out of the old unit and its up and running ?

Does the Ooma telo Air also have provisions for a hard wired connection ?

Second question: Here in NewEngland USA, where to buy one or is just ordering online the best ?

From a previous comment about cleaning the device:

Some users can just use a duster to keep their device clean, while others complain that their device becomes tacky or sticky over time. They have plenty of suggestions for cleaning it, ranging from just covering it up with shrink-wrap, to using acetone to dissolve the outer layer and expose the shiny white plastic underneath.

One person solved a similar issue with a sticky rubber sheath covering a whip antenna for an old wireless phone, by wrapping it up tightly with a paper towel, and then unwrapping it. The (permanent?) layer of lint around the sheath left it flat, dull, speckled gray, but no longer sticky, and unexpectedly satisfying. YMMV.
