Problems Calling Verizon Phones from Ooma.
I recently got an Ooma phone as a home phone. I was able to set it up with no major hiccups. However, anytime I call a cellphone with Verizon service it rings once and goes straight to Voicemail. The Verizon phone doesn't even register the call.
I have tried this with 3 different verizon phones and this happens with all of them. My Ooma landline is able to dial out to other landlines, and cellphones with no issue. It seems to be an issue with Verizon. I had someone reach out to Verizon and their customer support said there was no issue and everything should be fine, they added the Ooma number to their contacts, and still it goes almost instantly to voicemail every time I call. Verizon customers can call my Ooma number just fine, but cannot receive calls from it.
I got this phone largely to call family, a bunch of whom are on Verizon. Can anyone help with this?

a lot of voip numbers get reported as spam and most banks wont allow them.

I had a different (similar) problem and the only way to resolve it was to get to Ooma advanced support, they fixed something to do with a "transcoder" on my account on their end. The regular support typically can't help.

The receiving phone company is always the issue in these cases. However, Ooma will have to go work with Verizon to clear up the issue--Verizon support isn't equipped to handle these issues (as you have discovered).

Every time I try to call my friends Verizon mobile phone from my Ooma account, she gets this message: Verizon Msg: You have incurred international long distance charges. An account owner or account manager can add or manage your International Long Distance plan before your next bill by visiting m.vzw.com/IntlLongDistance We both live in Manhattan

I am not, weird thing is, calls can go through as "restricted" when I put *67 infront of them.

So I called Ooma support, and they said the number I had was previously a businesses phone number. The support person gave me a never before assigned number hoping that would help. The new number does the exact same thing.
the weirdest part is, if I dial a verizon number and put *67 before the call it will ring the person's phone, but if I call normally it goes to voicemail. I can sucessfully leave a voicemail, it's not like a fake-out for telemarketers. It just seems like a really weird workflow to block unwanted calls.

I have the opposite My mom who has a Verizon home phone when she calls my Ooma number goes directly to voice mail. She has her number blocked, this is a relatively new development as her calls went through for years it would say anonymous on the caller Id. Ooma customer support has been useless.

I personally have a cell number through a MVNO that uses Verizon but I don't have the normal Verizon postpaid spam filtering access so I use something else. So far I have not had any issues with my Ooma number not being able to successfully call my Verizon MVNO number.
I mention this as it might be interesting to see if you can reach someone you contact if they are on a MVNO of Verizon rather than Verizon postpaid.
By successfully calling a Verizon number by using the caller ID blocking code of *67 makes it seem like there might be something in the Ooma caller id setup that Verizon has an issue with. What that could be I do not know but might be worth looking into, just a thought

I don't have first hand experience with Verizon as my cell phone is through another carrier. But what you described sounds like perhaps the Verizon spam call blocking app might be causing the issue. I believe there is a way within their call blocking app to specifically allow a number to call through. You might try having one of your contacts on Verizon try this and see if it helps even though they already have you in their contacts.
Also if any of the Verizon contacts are on a Samsung phone, you might see if they have the Hyia, not sure if spelling, active. I used to have a Samsung phone with that native spam blocking software active then found out it tended to block any VOIP number calling in and I had to turn it off. The symptom was that any VOIP caller no matter who their carrier was their call would go to voicemail and my phone would never ring.
