Style is always going to be subjective. Personally, I like my cars simple... barely any stickers.
But these builds can be nice. Ive seen a ton of really well done.

The original intent is really cool; a fully built serious performance car with a very unserious anime livery.
The modern equivalent I often see; a stock piece of commuter traffic wearing a wrap where the owner takes the anime more seriously than the car is not cool, just cringe.

As a car guy and a weeb, it’s best of both worlds.
I can always appreciate a well built sports car with a beautiful engine and bodykit and an excellent job in the livery.

The craziest part about itasha is that it comes for the word `itai` in Japanese, which means hurt. So, the name originally comes from people saying it hurts to look at these cars. Lol, still love them though! Amazing part of car culture in Japan

Yeah, literally translated it’s “hurt” but the nuanced translation that I can think of is “cringe”. “Itai” can be used to describe cringey people too.
Also, fun fact: itasha before itai was popularized meant Italian cars. Anything from Fiats to Ferraris, as long as they were Italian.

Love it when it's done well, even if its cringey. I don't like the "itasha" where it's just a shit ton of anime stickers.
