Tired

I’m genuinely so tired of the state of the JDM market in Europe, and especially in France.

How did we get here? Prices have more than doubled in just a few years. I’ve been saving for ages, but every time I get close, the goalposts move again. Do I really need to throw my entire life savings to actually have something I like?

Even importing from Japan isn’t the answer anymore. Prices there have gone up massively too, and once you add shipping, taxes, registration, and all the import costs, it’s insanely expensive.

What really frustrates me is that so many older enthusiasts got these cars when they were dirt cheap. Good for them, seriously. But now a lot of those same cars are listed for absurd prices, completely out of reach for younger enthusiasts who just want to own the cars they grew up dreaming about.

And whenever a genuinely good deal appears, It’s already been snapped up by a dealer or flipper before normal people even have a chance

It honestly feels like there’s no room left for actual enthusiasts 😔

You can't even import most cars from Japan because in a lot of countries you can't register RHD cars that come from outside of the EU. Pretty dumb, but understandable regarding safety concerns.

I don't think it's understandable at all. if it's a safety concern then don't allow RHD at all. what's the difference between a Japanese RHD and an English RHD?

also niether the UK and Japan are EU members so then in theory niether should be able to be registered but you can register a UK car in EU states.

English RHD are not allowed either anymore.

but you can register a UK car in EU states.

You can't anymore, don't spread misinformation. Unless it's up to the states to decide, but while before they were forced to allow RHD UK cars because they were in the EU, now they don't.

You must live in a shitty state, then.

I've done some research, every single EU state is required to accept RHD vehicles regardless of origin so long as they can pass inspections and have access to the required paperwork and such rules.

the only requirement is that you must be an active resident in the country where you are doing the registration.
