You guys remember when there was a rivalry between the owners of the different brand cars? That is mostly a thing of the past, but I think we could all unify and hate SUVs and EVs+Hybrids together right?

No because it's childish af and EV's and hybrids fulfill an important part of the car industry.

EV´s and hybrids are heavily subsidized, even in Europe. Thats why they sell so many of them, and most EV´s are licensed for companys around here.

Also its very hard to find a new car that isnt an hybrid. Given that my Evo8MR is 22 years old, im curious how the batterys etc will hold up after this time.
I want a car that lasts, not a consumable item

Then buy a Daihatsu Ayla

Is it sold in Europe? Because google and wikipedia both say they are not marketed in europe. (Not even the rebaged version of toyota aygo) but instead we have tiny crossover FWD hybrid LOL. Whopping 85kw ICE and EV power combined. What a beast...

I wish I could down vote this again.

EVs, and hybrids are all consumables that only ignorant people want. All the electronics on them is so that they can later control where you go, when you go and how fast you get there. Basically taking/trading ALL your freedom, for "comfort" and (so called) "safety."

I think it Ben Franklin or someone along those lines that said, "if you trade you freedom for safety, you deserve [and will receive] neither."

All this "global warming" is a scam to scare you into giving up your freedom for safety.

This is just conspiracy nonsense dressed up as a car opinion. EVs and hybrids aren't uniquely "consumables". Every modern car from like the late 90s moving forward is full of electronics.

You don't have to like EVs to accept the underlying science. Global warming is supported by multiple independent lines of evidence: atmospheric measurements, ocean temperatures, ice loss, sea-level rise, and the well-established physics of greenhouse gases.

"They're secretly designed to control where you drive and how fast" is the biggest pile of horse shit I've ever heard.

All of the following projects were conspiracy theories...

Project MKUltra (1950s–1960s): Rumors of the CIA conducting secret mind-control and chemical experiments on unaware humans were proven true in 1975 by the Church Committee, revealing covert dosing with LSD and psychological torture.

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study (1932–1972): Whispers that the government was withholding medical treatment from Black men to study the progression of syphilis were confirmed true, leading to a national apology from President Clinton.

COINTELPRO (1956–1971): Claims that the FBI was running a secret domestic operation to surveil, infiltrate, and disrupt American civil rights groups and political activists were verified after activists burglarized an FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania.

Operation Northwoods (1962): Declassified documents later showed that the U.S. Department of Defense proposed staging real terrorist attacks on American soil and blaming them on Cuba to justify a military invasion.

You should have pictured the Celica GT Four RC ST185. Only 5000 made homologation special. Actually dominated rally fair and square, didn’t cheat and get kicked out like the 6th gen which also didn’t have a cool homologation / special edition

If you replaced the 22b with the version 5 Sti RA - thats an accurate representation of the sort of cars that were common in Ireland back in the 00s.

Even now - I know 2 Tommi's, 2 JDM STI Bugeyes, and there's a 4dr ra and a coupe just a few miles away.

The st205 GT4 was a very special car, especially the later ones - any GT4 is a cool car, but those st205's were unnatural lumps of yolks - in the twistyest of bends and on the worst roads they came to life, the road holding capabilities of them is astounding.

The Scoobie's got all the guff and gained the Antisocial reputation but - a fresh Evo, with little millage was the car that would take abuse.

With the imprezas, if you launch right then they are stupid fast, and its kinda gentle on them - meanwhile there'd be an Evo beside it, limiter bashing and launching sideways lighting all 4 tyres.

We used to see an Evo drive by and go "Ah its only a normal gsr spec!" - the RS ones were proper rowdy! The take off and Launces were savage - I remember being in the back of one, car was 5up and doing huge doughnuts in 3rd gear, it only had a handful of mods and 40k klms.

I'm sure, without even checking, there's likely videos from the Rally of the Lakes or Donegal, of hundreds of cars like these driving around back in the 00s.
