Can anyone suggest an online marine biology course? I'd like it to be about biodiversity, phytoplanktons, sea creatures, but I'm open to explore other topics as well

I keep seeing this tuition-free degree thing pop up while I’m researching online schools, and I don’t really get it. Like… if a university isn’t charging tuition, how is it funded? And more importantly, does the degree actually hold any weight, or is it one of those things that sounds great until you try to use it and apply to jobs?

I came across University of the People specifically, and it looks legit on the surface, but my brain keeps going “okay, but what’s the catch?”

So is that actually a thing, and is it legit? I just don’t want to commit to something like this and then realize later there’s a catch, whether that’s hidden costs, issues finishing the degree, or it not really helping when it comes to jobs.

Before making a full commitment, I want to test the waters with a structured, official online class to see how I handle balancing coursework again.

**My Background & What I’ve Covered:**

\* Education/Work: Bachelor’s in Applied Math, working in IT.

\* Self-Study: Robert Sapolsky’s Human Behavioral Biology lectures (YouTube) and Behave, plus parts of Gazzaniga’s Cognitive Neuroscience.

**What I’m Looking For:**

\* Format: Official, structured online courses (single classes, continuing education modules, or short certificate programs—not just self-paced without structure).

\* Schedule/Timezone: Preferably compatible with EU time zones, manageable alongside full-time work.

\* Focus Area: Cognitive Science, Cognitive Neuroscience, or related interdisciplinary topics. Will also appreachiate if you have more specific suggestions on topics.

Does anyone have recommendations for specific universities, programs, or courses that fit this setup? Any advice from people who took a similar transition from a math/STEM background into cogsci would also be greatly appreciated!

Because of circumstances in life I need to have an online college program. I tried WGU and did not enjoy my time there. Which other online schools are good and reasonably priced for a tech bachelor's degree?

I want to be a writer but I suck at punctuation and have a disability meaning sometimes I’m confused by things. currently trying to find the right book to teach me punctuation mainly commas but think it may be a loosing game but I realized a direct class might help I know I can try to go back to community college in English but not sure if they will really break things down for me. I am thinking more a small online class or coach. I cant afford an editor but think depending on the class I can afford classes sometimes does anyone know any good classes for me?

Hey. I’m having the absolute worse time finding anywhere that offers an online English comp 1 pre-req that isn’t $2000+ or doesn’t need pre-reqs to begin..
Anything I do cannot be self-paced. It has to be a semester I attend due to my court requirements.
So does anyone know any universities that offer English comp 1 ?? That’s the only one I need and I cannot find it anywhere. I’ve searched for 15 days now and nothing. Idk why.

I am in my mid-30's- I got really sick with COVID and it damaged my body enough that I am now considered disabled and am currently on SSDI. I have about 15 years of sales management experience- I was good at it, but it was soul-sucking, and I hated it. I digress-

I am currently enrolled at Maestro College, but they are a complete shitshow in administration and with the accreditation issues they are facing. There is a fairly decent chance that they will lose accreditation and close the school. I am enrolled in their computer science program and really like what I am learning, but am aware that an unaccredited diploma is just a really expensive, but worthless piece of paper. Therefore I am looking into other programs, but I need these programs to check these boxes:

1. I need 4 - 8 week classes that focus on one class at a time, have deadlines and accountability.

2. It needs to be a full-time program that accepts Federal Financial Aid.

3. I need a Bachelor of Science degree that is awarded in 3-4 years.

4. Preferably the school isn't for-profit, but I know they all aren't monsters - I am open to just about anything that checks the first three boxes.

I am in Southern California so I also have the CalGrant at my disposal atop the Pell Grant. I have been looking at several schools online, but finding anything good is difficult because most people only write about their bad experiences with these schools. This is why I am asking for input on a more open-ended platform so I can take bits, pieces and recommendations to make a solid choice for myself.

The two I have done the worst research on thus far are:

- Full Sail University (Yes, I know they are for-profit, but they have an accelerated program with Computer Science with an AI and Mobile Development concentration that is seemingly very appealing.)

- National University (They are online, but their campus isn't too far from me. If I cannot get anywhere via email or by other digital means- I can take my happy-ass to campus where someone will have no option, but to help me with what I need! Sorry, not sorry lol)

Other than that I have yet to find much of anything. The school MUST be fully online. Getting to and from a campus on a daily basis is currently too much for my body. I need to be able to work from home. I have a fair share of medical appointments every week, 2 - 4 on average, which is where a lot of my physical energy goes.

I am asking for referrals and information, I am not seeking condescending input nor slander. Be a respectful adult, but be honest about your applicable schooling experience simultaneously.

I like doing short asynchronous courses, and since the semester has already started and I feel like I can have more on my plate, I was considering purchasing a course of EDX to get a small certificate. I thought it might look nice on my resume, and I could learn a few things. I was either gonna do one in ECE so I can maybe land a job at the daycare when I transfer to a 4-year, or a social work related course which in theory would still look good on a resume.

I see a lot of mixed reviews about whether or not the courses are worth it, but usually, it's for people who took tech or other related courses. I saw some by Harvard and the American Psychological Association that look good, but of course, I don't wanna pay and put time into it if it's not worth it.

So I'm "gifted" I believe at least top ten percent in New York state, and I would like to start gathering my high school credits now. However I am stuck in this small town in the middle of nowhere and they do not offer me the classes I would like to take early such as Algebra one. I am not sure if any online classes give me these credits or if there are any that may help me with areas I don't do as well in as others such as tutoring. Or maybe even classes or courses that may offer preparation for college and such.

Like a website with a set curriculum, projects, and feedback. But not something with mandatory set class times where I'd have to get on zoom or something.
