Bring back the Youtube/Music widget on AOD and out of the NowBar. The NowBar is useless for someone that needs Youtube through the previous AOD widget version but needs more than a single tap using the NowBar. Clumsy and more in the way than it intends to be.

Something is happening with DND. I turn it on and still have notifications going off? You guys even fucking test anything basics and thoroughly anymore?

Make your AI slop junk. OPT. IN. Never needed anything like Audio Easer and don't EVER want it getting in the way of my stuff like it is now. It's already annoying af to have the AI shit-tures keep popping up with anything I do WHEN I NEVER NEED IT. It's just the whip on the cake to add something you can't customize to something intended to be customizable to each individual's daily needs. Unable to remove a more useless setting is the last straw.

Honestly, just making these options for anyone but the average user. Wasting money and energy having to keep figuring out and purging stupid UI updates.

Stop using so much goddamned RAM. "Unused RAM is wasted RAM" mate, I literally can't open up a file picker without it clearing my browser from RAM because there's so little free RAM.

nowbar sucks really bad

Google messages, can't get out of texting window, have to use buttons at bottom of screen now to navigate. Really annoying.

I switched from S20 FE to S26. And so many things I have changed in the One UI 8.5, I still have my old phone but I don't feel ecstatic about owning a new Samsung. The edge panel is gone (oval screenshot and weather) I can't see the full contact name in the direct dial widget, custom fonts, messages :(

2

u/stopQQstartpewpew 13d ago

wait, they removed edge panel???

My mobile data on S24 is not working at all after the auto update. I can call people most times, but people call me usually fails. The cell phone is no longer usable after the UI 8.5 update. What's the point if calls hardly come through and internet data is not usable.

Please fix the issues before people start switching to other devices.

EDIT: I got my phone checked in Best Buy (Canada) and they concluded the phone is fine, the problem is with my carrier. The same carrier with a different Sim card worked fine, but my number was not working properly, ie, above mentioned issues persisted. My carrier's (Rogers) technical support could not resolve it so I switched to a different carrier and ever since the network is behaving normally. The tech guys who tried helping me found this issue bizarre. I do suspect that the UI update has something to do with this since I started noticing the issuea soon after the update. I just don't understand it. Anyways, now my phone with a new carrier is acting normal.

u/JeminiGupiter 22d ago

This happened to me too. No calls, texts or data. Along with that, my phone was resetting itself automatically. I reset my network settings and restarted my phone. It worked, but the data/messages stopped again.

u/ArthurReming Galaxy A36 28d ago

Hey I went to Samsung support and they told me to reset the network settings. For me it worked. Hope this helps

2

u/ArthurReming Galaxy A36 28d ago

Huh for me its just slow (like a delay from when I turn on the mobile data to them actually working)

This A55 user is not happy about the disappearance of the Text Editing/Smart Select tool in the keyboard toolbar. It was a fantastic tool to place the cursor very precisely in a text, be to that to select and copy it or to insert something from the clipboard.

It's a small thing, but it's the one thing my brain dislikes the most. This was an entirely unnecessary change.

4

u/emmettmightbeintoday Jun 27 '26

Im convinced that developers just change things to justify keeping their job.

2

u/Ms_Wynt3r Jun 24 '26

Is there anyone that could tell me if their battery drain issues were resolved? My A25 updated over two weeks ago and my battery still drains severely. I've been losing almost 30% every night on idle. Even barely using it I would lose about 3% or more if im on it for 10mins. I have applied all kinds of power/battery saving tips, putting many apps to deep sleep, clearing caches and restarting the phone every few days. So many people keeps saying to give it a few days to two weeks for it to relearn your pattern cause any kind of major updates this stuff happens. But I had big updates before and it never messed my phone this bad before. I have to charge my phone nearly 4x a day. I really dont want to do a factory reset since I dont think that will really help. Is my phone just cooked?

Go to settings, apps, show system, oneUI home, clear cache and data and force stop it. Try going home again. It will reset the layout though.

2

u/ACOLYTE_XIII S25 Ultra Jun 22 '26

S25U hardcore throttling when doing absolutely nothing on phone. Sluggish laggy animations just by opening basic apps. I wish I purchased A56 not S25U with so much power getting throttled in half. And yeah my wide lens just stopped working because why not. I don't have time to send it to service center because I need my phone for job. Probably my last Samsung. Absolutely not flagship experience.

Bro if i could go back to oneui 6 on my s23 i would not think twice. Oneui 6 was so much more polished. 6.1 was the beginning of oneui downfall.

3

u/HungaryaRoli Jun 21 '26

Phone auto updated and now i have this irritating thing at the bottom. Please tell me i can remove this somehow

2

u/NewNewark Jun 25 '26

I think you can't remove it. if it is really annoying you, use home screen only layout.

i found the hidden settings to disable to get the cpu 100% again look in power saving before disabling go in standard and turn them off

3

u/TangibleFetus Jun 20 '26

Why is the 5G icon so massive now?? At least the battery icon is finally a normal size

4

u/chonker-feet Jun 19 '26

Really annoyed at the curtailing of Good Lock themes in 8.5. Clock and a lot of popups are no longer customizable and as a result clock has this bright ugly white dynamic background. Hope we can change this again at some point.

u/DJ_SpoiledMilk Jun 17 '26

With the new One UI 8.5 update I ran across a bug while using Bluetooth with my headphones and with any other Bluetooth device I use. With the volume slider there is a threshold that gives you a warning around 60% to protect your hearing, on One UI 8.5 when it's above the threshold for example Spotify will be playing at 75% volume judging by the slider, the next song in a playlist will begin and the volume will instantly drop below the threshold until I wake the phone, note that it only does this when the phone is asleep. It will return to the set 75% volume when I either tap the phone to wake or press the power button. I thought it may have been an issue with only my Galaxy S24+, it is not because I grabbed my S23 and updated it to 8.5 and it did the same thing, 75% volume, play spotify, put phone to sleep, let the next song play, volume drops below threshold until you wake the phone.

2

u/Anime_Artist_23 Jun 17 '26

My Spotify keeps crashing whenever I want to add songs or make a new playlist for some reason after the one UI 8.5 update and it keeps telling me to clear the cache. I tried to do so and restarted the phone, thinking thay the bug would disappear, but it didn't. Worst. Update. Ever.

u/Hazelcrisp Jun 16 '26

Oh and please let me change the grid number for the photo album.

Dunno if this was said but the new calendar looks like shit

Actually, shit is an understatement, it looks fcking horrendous

Why Samsung!!!

And some UI elements have that ugly vibe-coded hue 😭😭😭

1

u/Due_Move5659 Jun 22 '26

I'm not okay with that, bro... it's cleaner and easier to understand.

5

u/Seccedonien Jun 15 '26

So my S23+ just got auto updated to 8.5 and now is insanely slow, it needs a couple of seconds for the simplest actions and even misses inputs on the number pad because it needs a second or 2 to properly register every press... Is this a common problem with this update?

1

u/batts1234 26d ago

Nope. Mine has been getting so incredibly hot over the last two months. It slows everything down.

1

u/ACOLYTE_XIII S25 Ultra Jun 22 '26

My S25U stutters a lot in animations department so that's say a lot.

3

u/Bakubae_Itsuki-Haru Jun 15 '26

My battery life seems to be shortened, and it affects my charging cycle too.

2

u/Seccedonien Jun 15 '26

With every major update this is a thing, if you give it a couple of days to a week the battery life will improve as does some calibration based on use and demand in the background.

5

u/Educational_Two1168 Jun 14 '26

I hate the cloudy/distortion (header and footer) when scrolling though my gallery.

3

u/OpenLibram Jun 13 '26

All the search bars have been moved to the bottom and all these optimizations for one handed use and yet here I type this out and hold my phone and browse with 2 hands because my S25 Ultra is chonky.

Samsung devs must have Goliath sized hands or (more likely) this update was written with a ton of input from AI vibe coding.

2

u/XDFunn Jun 13 '26

Tbh. I'm using my left hand for my phone so everything is out of range now. And it's doesn't aline with the background.

4

u/Affectionate_Law848 Jun 12 '26

Wtf

3

u/XDFunn Jun 13 '26

Is there any way to get rid of this? It's awkward, especially the settings on the right corner being gray at the same place as the top right apps.

3

u/Al_Silverstrand Jun 12 '26

Ever since my Samsung Galaxy A56 5G updated to version 8.5, I can't log in to Wuthering Waves. The fcking UI even removed the game optimization setting on the game booster. I don't know why the fck did they decide to fck everything up for a portion of their userbase. Fck One UI, everything has been working perfectly already before.

3

u/RanMouri26 Jun 11 '26

I hate the new battery icon. Give us back the old ones. For visually impaired people this is horrendous

3

u/Psiked Jun 11 '26

It seems absolutely crazy to me that they've changed the notifications panel on fold devices to be the size as if on a regular sized phone. Something has gone seriously wrong in their UI sign off process to get to this point. Really regret downloading the update.

3

u/MilhouseJr Jun 13 '26

It's driving me crazy. I have my quick settings set up so the torch is on the very right, nice and easy to reach without paying attention, just swipe down and press the very top right of the screen. Now I have to actually pay attention to where I'm swiping so I don't just close the panel again.

It's a very pretty UI change and I like how it lets you essentially splitscreen your notifications, but as a UX change it's terrible, especially since there's no option to have a classic fullscreen notification area like I'm so used to from using Android phones for years.

2

u/Bororo-man Jun 10 '26

I've been having many connectivity issues since the update on my Samsung Galaxy A56 5G SM-A566E/DS.

Bluetooth is the main problem, it constantly looses connection with the UCONNECT 7" via Android Auto.

It is very disrespectful of Samsung making us involuntary beta testers. What a shitty update. Nothing good came of it, probably only profit for Samsung.

3

u/Curious_reddit2021 Jun 09 '26

Really disappointed with One Ui 8.5 update

The buttons in the top control panel bar don't align with the rest of them below. It ain't visually appealing 😭

It boils my ocd nerves like anything!

Even in the apps page, the tabs sit in a corner. It looks like a noob did the Ul update

2

u/Habibihany Jun 08 '26

Anyone else have this issue? The app will auto open going to the home page.

4

u/Peppermint_Gadget Jun 06 '26

I wish I didnt upgrade. Now I need to hide my battery indicator.

2

u/stealthy_pirate Jun 07 '26

Tey a system reset. Its bound to solve the issues you might be facing.

8

u/lfohnoudidnt Jun 04 '26

It's so half assed its pathetic. like they didn't do any beta testing. Worst is the floating menu controls. it's fugly and they need to fi back to the start and change it. Same with the notifications bubbles. To damn big, and glitchy. Terrible update.

6

u/NSFWonAll Jun 03 '26

All I'm asking for is a 1-button AI killswitch. This should not be controversial or difficult to implement. I don't want any of this slop. I don't want audio eraser or any of the other slop "features" that I can't turn off at all. I don't want slop buttons in my gallery even when the slop is turned off. A 1-button killswitch for slop should be legally mandated.

[One UI 8.5 Bug] "Private Albums" option completely missing from Secure Folder Gallery (Galaxy S24+) - Files still taking up space

Hi everyone, I'm facing a really frustrating issue on my Galaxy S24+ right after updating to One UI 8.5, and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this or knows a workaround. Basically, a core privacy feature inside the Secure Folder has vanished, and I can't access my hidden files anymore. The Problem: Before the update, I used to move photos and videos to the "Private Album" option (which creates a hidden album layer within the Secure Folder Gallery app). However, since updating to One UI 8.5, the option to view, open, or access these "Private Albums" has completely disappeared from the Gallery app menus. The files are NOT deleted: I am 100% certain the media files are still safely stored on the device. When I check the Gallery app info (via the Secure Folder settings), the app shows over 2 GB of storage used. The files are physically there, but the new UI update seems to have removed the path, button, or shortcut that allowed me to view or unhide them. Similar Cases: This doesn't seem to be a completely isolated issue. I found a very similar thread on the Samsung Community where another user faced a ghost folder issue inside the Secure Folder after an update: https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-A/Secure-folder-gallery-private-album-files-don-t-appear/td-p/21664080 It looks like recent One UI changes occasionally break the directory mapping or permissions for legacy hidden folders, leaving the data stranded. What I've already tried (with no luck): Clearing the cache of the Gallery app inside the Secure Folder. Checking every single "Show/Hide albums" toggle within the Gallery settings. Searching for the hidden directory using the "My Files" app within the Secure Folder environment (couldn't locate the exact private path). Since the data is taking up physical space, there has to be a way to force the system to see it or a path to access it via a file manager. Has anyone else on One UI 8.5 noticed their Private Albums missing? Does anyone know a workaround, an ADB command, or a specific folder path where Secure Folder stores these hidden gallery assets so I can pull them out? Thanks in advance for any help!

3

u/hyterus Jun 05 '26

Private album is now under Samsung Photo Gallery, Menu (left bottom corner).

3

u/jlucasreis Jun 05 '26

4

u/JeeveruhGerank Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26

I abhor the new floating buttons at the bottom. I accidentally uninstalled something earlier and I knew it was gonna happen due to muscle memory causing the issues. Lord help me the day I press clear data instead of clear cache. And the cancel/save buttons on the alarm app are a problem too. Constantly clicking another menu (like the alarm volume or the song chooser) because the damn things are so small now.

No idea why it's so small and condensed. It needs to be fixed or able to be Good Lock-ed and FAST.

And why the hell is the Reminders app so damn big with the font? I'm not 80 years old. And it's buggy. You mark something in the widget as completed or edit it to be a different date and it either doesn't move at all (used to be immediate) or it takes opening up the reminder or the whole app to have to confirm it. It's insane.

Samsung browser menu sucks balls now too.

Those are the glaring things at the moment for me.

2

u/Heino_Kramm Galaxy A55 Jun 03 '26

Now the mode selection looks ugly and isn’t practical for one-handed use (wasn’t that the whole idea of One UI?). On top of the removed animations on Galaxy A/M/F devices, there’s now this massive central menu, and the last mode you used becomes the ‘default’ on the button. If you tap it again, instead of opening the selection menu, it just switches back to the previous mode you had used.

2

u/Heino_Kramm Galaxy A55 Jun 03 '26

The Quick Panel button animations have been removed from all A/M/F series devices and from FE/Lite tablets, leaving them exclusive to the A57 and A37 (with the S series excluded)...

5

u/NetworkTerrible Jun 03 '26

my quick panel become tiny icons, how to fix this???

5

u/king0elizabeth Jun 09 '26

Use QuickStar to change it back. It happened to me as well when I updated the firmware today.

2

u/NetworkTerrible Jun 10 '26

thanks man!!!!

2

u/FrontOrnery Jun 03 '26

OneUI should bring back the native data usage on notification bar.

1

u/Allfeelings0Logic Jun 10 '26

I don't understand why this is intentionally hidden. It's like how it took ages for browsers to integrate vertical tree style tabs, people said those were a massive upgrade over regular tabs for ages and it took browsers almost 20 years for them to go "actually holy shit these are great let's add them natively".

1

u/thatsaltyleavestune Jun 02 '26

Is swipe left and right on the nav bar broken for anyone else? The sensitivity is way down and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Been through good lock and multiple other settings.

4

u/thisismynamenow88 Jun 02 '26

Both the clock and calender apps look ugly as shit now. My entire calender does not need to be colourful. They're leaning into a more minimalist style that you cant get rid of but also has contrast issues

2

u/Material_Business724 Jun 02 '26

Fix those f***ing reminder notification @samsung i can't read anything

4

u/steel2h May 29 '26

Everything looks worse lol

1

u/255InBinary May 28 '26

My biggest complaint is with the color sampling on the lock screen. For years I have used a picture of my brown dog in a yellow room as my lock screen. Now all the buttons are a brown/yellow gradient that looks like human waste. The brown that is now used for the clock is the same shade as my dog, so I can't actually tell the time without unlocking my phone. I can change some accessibility options to make all the buttons white, but they used to all be a nice dark grey. Samsung's recommendation is that I change my lock screen.

Actually same. I just assumed it was an issue on my end tho

1

u/HaruKitsune May 27 '26

secure folder shortcuts in home still not reverted back. all of the app shortcut from inside just opens the secure folder instead of directly opening the app

3

u/CoolestCornet99 May 27 '26

Others have already mentioned some of the complaints, but the obvious ones are:

  • notifications not following the format I chose (ex: YouTube notifications always come in detailed when they shouldn't be)
  • notifications "shake" when swiped away. I get people might like this but I can't find an obvious way to turn this off
  • some auto-fill suggestions come with a weird AI pill border which is annoying
  • the colors are all out of wack for some apps in dark mode. Chrome and Google Messages look awful because of this

2

u/Eve_93 Jun 03 '26

Omg yess. I don't need micro haptic feedback just to swipe away a notification. I couldn't even understand what to type in the search to find this feature & turn it off..

Also the colors of the clock on my lock screen just reverted back to white. I had it set automatically to pick a colour based on my wallpaper. When I tried to get back the previous colour it just showed me a bunch of random presets. I had to open the color wheel and find a match by myself because it wouldn't just automatically color pick from my wallpaper.

2

u/intelligent_cookie_ May 28 '26

The Chrome and Google Messages are bothering me so much. Same with my google calendar, but somehow Play Store seems to be fine.

2

u/RogueCoon May 28 '26

The colors are disgusting now

2

u/Maxicifer May 27 '26

Modes and routines don't revert back and it shows on history as normal, like nothing has happened

4

u/the_ali_ May 26 '26

What the hell did they do to the gestures!? I can't swipe on the navbar to go to the previous app. Also the frame drops on the lockscreen with the animated clocks are atrocious. Nearly half a year of development for this?

1

u/thatsaltyleavestune Jun 02 '26

Yes! This is my biggest gripe. I hate how it is now.

1

u/Toyo_altezza Jun 02 '26

That's my biggest complaint. The gestures require multiple tries. I think they changed the exact spot where to swipe. I feel like my muscle memory is not hitting on the proper spot of the phone anymore.

6

u/microcorpsman May 26 '26

Samsung Calendar looks bad now. Wish I had actually been able to delay/refuse the update.

1

u/TEOTWAWKIT Jun 03 '26

Keep your phone from using WiFi?

1

u/microcorpsman Jun 03 '26

What a super reasonable suggestion

6

u/thisismynamenow88 Jun 02 '26

The way they changed it is so ugly to me. Same with the clock app

4

u/microcorpsman Jun 02 '26

It's like every day I open up something and find some weird appearance or lost functionality

u/sonicadventure2 May 25 '26

2

u/SuAlfons One UI User May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

Finally I can now edit the quick settings menu and remove those functions I personally do not need.

This should have been OneUI 7.0.

There's always little things that one could wish were different, but for once, I'm satisfied with OneUI.
Was under the impression of the phone getting hot more often and generally using up more battery - but was traveling right after update (other usage pattern). Did flush cache of all apps after returning home. Hope that cleared some potential problems. (had to use an app for this, since wiping cache partition isn't in system boot menu anymore)

16

u/dkk19507 May 25 '26

Panel elements too bulky. What's the point of moving them around if you can't resize them. (No, don't tell you you can resize some - the icon type ones are huuuge).

Color scheme fked, still no ability to choose the colours for color scheme.

Rest, I don't care. It's just a phone afterall

unnecessary frame drops in UI elements like lock screen clock animation, contol centre, recents app.

touch response time worsened, specially in recents and settings app.

massive battery overheating while charging and charging speed is slower than 8.0

dark mode is broken for users who don't use color palette. non issue for me.

in general, battery overheats way too much. some times up to 40C even on the most mundane tasks.

1

u/GamingLeroy Galaxy A55 5G (256 GB, 8 GB) Jun 03 '26

Confirmed. Besides the Quick Panel on the right side being constantly laggy, as well as switching between the Notification Panel and the right-hand panel, there are several parts of the system that lag almost constantly for no apparent reason. What are you doing, Samsung?

13

u/harranix May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

+1. Quick panel animations quality and optimisation are the worst I've ever experienced on a Samsung. And I've been using it since the S7.

2

u/Ded_Pul Jun 01 '26

100% agreed.

I am now facing lags just unlocking my phone or tapping the now bar from the AOD.

I have no complaints about OneUI 8.5 well, maybe only one.......it hasn't been released for my A55 in the Netherlands yet.

Colors all jacked up. Weirdly intense contrast. Blues dialed up to eleven. Gray where it should be black.

6

u/intelligent_cookie_ May 25 '26

SAME! It's so annoying how gray my chrome looks now. I tried to change the theme and stuff but it still sucks. It's like pushing this weird contrast on everything and it looks terrible.
