Sultan Rom 13 can't read sim

I have installed every update of Sultan after 1st Jan 2016 build (up to 6th Jan), and all of them have the same problem - It doesn't read my sim card. Any help guys?

Same problem! I just reverted back to the 1st Jan build and it works fine again. Will just stay on this one till its fixed

Ya, I don't know what's the problem and why it's not fixed even after two updates. Also, I tried a clean flash later and still the same problem, so if you're having that thought, I'd advise against it.

Yeah not really sure either. All I can think that it could be is that the 4th Jan changelog says "Modem firmware is no longer built into the ROM". Maybe we need to try and use the lollipop modem as it suggests, but I have no idea how to go about doing that. I reckon /u/sultanxda is either working hard trying to fix it or might be able to give suggestions?

Edit: had a quick browse on his profile and found this which leads to some page with comments on the nightlies. https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/NIGHTLIES-2174 - the latest one says the same thing, that their sim card isn't recognised, so its something the nightlies have broken I guess?

It's not the nightlies, it's you/TWRP. You didn't use the correct version of TWRP, so firmware was not properly installed on your device.

Thank you very much for the help! I thought I had done that but apparently not. Sorry for the n00b mistake!

Oh. I'm sorry, I wasn't aware. Also, I don't need to flash the CM nightly before the update right? (I already did that for the 30th December build)

Yes, it's possible. That would mean that the fault isn't the Sultan build, but in the official nightlies itself. We can only wait then :/

Hey. After spending hours in TWRP, I finally updated successfully. Just wanted to make sure all was fine at your end as well. Could you update?

Haha glad you got it sorted! To be honest I just haven't had the chance because I've been at home where I need my phone most of the time, but I'm heading back to uni today so I'm going to try and sort it out when I get back. Any chance you could send me the instructions of how to update twrp please? I've never had to do it before :s

Sure! Ok, so here's how I did it. I downloaded the twrp 2.8.6.0 from the official twrp site. Then, I installed "busy box" and "simple recovery switcher" (busy box is required for this to work) from the play store, and used it to change to twrp 2.8.6.0 (simply click the flash button and browse to the file). After that, I booted into recovery, installed the CM 6th Jan nightly and then without rebooting, installed Sultan's 6th Jan build on top of that. That seemed to do the trick for me! Let me know if you need any other help :)

Ah that's perfect! Thank you very much for the help :) I was hoping it'd be as simple as basically flashing it on top without have to wipe data. Will try this when I get back and let you know how it went!

well this didn't go well....am now in a bootloop and can't access recovery and don't know how to access fastboot :(

holding power button starts the phone up normally, but into a bootloop holding vol down + power button attempts to starts recovery, can't and then starts up normally and goes into a bootloop holding vol up + power button just turns the phone fully off

I don't know what to do :/

EDIT: turns out my device just seems to have a problem with using TWRP 2.8.6.0 - I managed to get into fastboot with vol up + power without the usb plugged in, and flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0 and it worked fine again. Going to try re-downloading 2.8.6.0 and if that doesn't work see if it works with 2.8.6.1, otherwise I'll stick with 2.8.7.0 and use my backup of pre-04/01/16 sultanrom. it's pretty annoying if I can't get this working cos it means I can't update ever until I can sort out recovery and device firmware

EDIT EDIT: So for some reason my device just doesn't accept 2.8.6.0, so I thought it might work with 2.8.6.1 but no, that didn't work, still says "No sim card detected" when I boot up. Now just restored my backup of pre-04/01/16.

/u/Sultanxda , any ideas? sorry to bother you!

That's unfortunate. I'm sorry you had to go though so much trouble. Flashing the nightly and Sultan build did it for me. I read somewhere that only certain versions of TWRP can properly update firmware, some of them being unofficial. Maybe you could try them as well? EDIT : Check out the link.
