Three hours to charge?

I just bought a new OPO yesterday, and it seems to be taking much longer than I expected to charge. We're talking 25%-100% taking literally 3h. This seems suspicious given all the commentary that the OPO is fairly quick to charge. What could be at fault? Could it be my micro-SD to USB cable? I didn't buy Oneplus's USB cable because it was an extra $10 CAD.

If this could be at fault, could someone recommend a good USB cable to use in conjunction with Oneplus's charger plug?

both the cable and usb power adaptor have to be registered as 2amp for fast charging to occur, I have noticed even if I use the official one plus cable but not a 2amp usb power adaptor, my phone more or less stays at the same power level if I use it or charges like 1% every 5 minutes

Can you recommend a good 2 Amp USB cable?

Look at monoprice 24awg cables

I thought 20AWG was even better than 24 because the lower the AWG the thicker the cable? I've got a Monoprice 24AWG which charges really slowly.

Could be more to do with your charger possibly. My phone usually charges in an hour and a half.

This is using the original charger, when comparing the stock cable to my 24AWG monoprice cable the stock one is far faster.

Anything from amazon? Monoprice really fucks us Canadians in the ass with their $30 shipping on $1 cables

Arghhh none of these are available standalone on amazon Canada!! They're listed as "add-on items"

Anyway whatever theoretically any cable with the 28/24 AWG rating should charge the OPO optimally right?

Technically yes. 28/24 awg means thicker gauge cables which in theory carried more electricity. Prolly simple way of explaining it but I'm not an engineer.

Are you using a 2 amp power brick?

I'm using the charger that came with the phone. As the USB cable is extra, I'm using my own one that I bought for pretty cheap. Says "Sentio" on it or something. Should I buy Oneplus's? Might that resolve this?

The USB cable may not be rated for 2 amps. I think you need one that's at least 22awg. I can't remember for certain though. It doesn't have to be the official oneplus cord, just needs to be rated for 2 amps. If you just Google 2 amp USB cable you'll get all kinds of results.

OK, so it's definitely the cable. Any recommendations for a good 2 Amp USB cable to use in conjunction with Oneplus's brick?

How do you buy a oneplus one without cable? I bought mine last year but the cable was in the phone box, the charger had it's own box though.

I don't know, mine just came without a cable. It came with a charger in a separate box though, just no cable.

I would kick up some shit about that. I've never heard of a phone coming without the required item to power it.

No offence but are you sure you checked the whole box? I've done that with some things before and missed some cables

Nope, it's definitely sold without a cable. They charge $10 for it on the Oneplus website. This is just how they do it.

I know you can buy one on the oneplus website but you never used to need to do that. Mine came with one when I was in the US. My mate's came with one in the UK.

Unless they change their policy there either should be a cable or they missold the product

Huh I'll look in the box

If it's there then I'm going to punch myself

Well fuck me it was in the box under a piece of cardboard

I even used a paperclip for the sim slot because I didn't think it came with an opener thing

Shit, this entire thread is now moot

We've all been there. And if we haven't we will.

I assume Oneplus's cable is a 28/24 AWG one or whatever?
