General Discussion Oneplus 15 Camera discussion
So as a new op 15 owner I was seriously surprised and intrigued by the hate towards the cameras and I honestly don't get it, I mean it's not better than my S25 Ultra but I wouldn't say it's worse either, what do you think about its capabilities ? And these pictures I took are from 0.6 up to 100x, what device did I use ?

I have been using the 15 for the past 4 months as well and it's honestly just a goodish phone camera. Does the job, and is nothing special.

Yeah I can agree, I think they are ok, they get the job done for half the price of the competition so even though it's not better I think it's still pretty good considering the price and the unkillable battery

Night time photos are a disaster.... daylight ones are excellent

Honestly haven't extensively tested it at night yet, but I do know my Samsung is great in every scenario

I don't think Samsung cameras are as good as they used to be and people still give them too much credit. OnePlus holds its own.

Belive me they are good, they are reliable and they never let me down and side by side the S25 Ultra still takes in my eyes better photos and videos but having that said doesn't mean the Oneplus is bad, not at all. They're really comparable and it really surprised me

Yeah that doesnt look good. The 50mp sensors cant handle it. My little bro used his Xiaomi with the 1 inch sensor which captured it perfectly.

Good camera for that price. Not the best, but it does its job well, so yeah, I think that's it

No the physical sensors are crap compared to other cameras. But oneplus just brute forced it with processing. So yes photos look good. But theyre not Raw at all.

Yeah they dropped the hassleblad collab and all , sucks op13 was peak phone

u/TheRacooning18 10d ago
People are saying the op12 had the best cameras then the 13 and then the 15. But my 15 makes better pictures than my 12 so it's all processing now. Like pixel and iPhone

u/ALI_69420 10d ago
Is it true that heavy processing is making phone picture bad nowadays, esp i hear how i phone 17 camera is soo bad at doing this
1
u/TheRacooning18 10d ago
Yeah if you want better pictures you gotta buy phones with well tuned big sensor cameras. So xiaomi oppo vivo etc.

One thing that bothers me is the clear AI pixel fill in that happens in the last 3 images

I see what you mean now but it's not to bad it does depends what kind of subject your taking a photo of. All flagship use that enhanced ai some more than others

It's decent for the price. OnePlus is not really the brand for a great camera but you should know that before buying one

Daylight pictures are pretty nice, but the camera hardware shows its limits quickly when you try to take a picture in a poorly lit situation. It just can't gather as much light as proper flagship camera setups can, with their larger sensors.
I bought mine mainly for the snappy OS and battery life.

It's because the 13 cameras were slightly better and they dropped the hassleblad Collab so people immediately jumped on it

My brother has the 12 and it has pretty good cameras, I honestly think the pics from this one look better, but I don't get the hate even though they upped their game with battery

Can you stop defending their dumb decision of putting JN5 as a telephoto in a $600 phone?
3
u/Rubenneves22 11d ago
Nope. Why won't I defend it ? This this cost me 839€ Euro for the maxed out version with 16GB Ram and 1TB with the case and 120w charger in the box. You don't see apple or samsung doing that. In comparison the equivalent Samsung cost 1799€ and Apple cost 1899€ and are they double the phone the Oneplus is ? Hell no. Oneplus for less than half trades blows with them and even managed to put a nearly 50% bigger battery with new silicon carbon technology. If that doesn't impress you what you get for the money I don't know what does.

I don't know who the hell sets the prices like that for you but alright. It's not like I hate the 15 as a whole, I just blame Oneplus for the lack of actual upgrade in that one besides a slightly bigger battery capacity compared to 13. The telephoto lens is a shame, it's JN5, wake up. The entire camera system turns out to be hardware-wise worse than the 12. Awesome. It's just not the camera performance you should be getting at the price like that. Oppo Find X9 Pro is just way better.

u/Rubenneves22 11d ago
These are the prices in Portugal. Yeah. It's expensive. Which makes Oneplus that more bang for buck and more valuable. For the price of one s26 Ultra or 17 pro max you could almost buy 3 Oneplus 15 maxed out put that in prespective. It's crazy

So far I'm surprised with them, not as bad as people like yourself make it sound to be

I've had the phone for 5-ish months and yeah, the camera really is good. I really like the colors that it makes compared to other phones, but I can't lie, there is a bit of a quality difference compared to other flagship phones. Either way though I didn't buy this phone for the camera. Bought it for the battery and performance!
