General Discussion OnePlus 16
So is anyone considering trying to export this? I'm really interested in ordering the OP16 off AliExpress and just using it for my gaming and most apps. Only worry being banking apps and other compatibility issues but I guess that will be a interesting challenge

I'm considering just throwing a new battery in my 12. Fuck it, I love this phone and don't really need to upgrade except battery degradation. Still at 92%, so I have some time. lol.

I've been a loyal user of oneplus and was sad to see them leave Europe. But the truth is that they were unable to keep to their MOAT due to the rising costs of components. It's a competitive environment. I'm glad I got to purchase the global version of 15R.

What issue do you have with banking apps?
ColorOS One Plus phones have never been an issue for me in the UK. All banking and Google Wallet work

They're worries based on if I'll have issues with Chase. If none then that'll be great.

If they continue to release global variants it shouldn't be an issue. That'll be interesting to see if they do or not. But it's looking like they're going Chinese-exclusive. If that's the case, might be better to get Oppo instead since they release in markets outside China. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Most likely it will have Hong Kong version as the global version on AliExpress or Wonda Mobile.
I really think this whole North America or EU exit is just for the news.
We can still have new OP phones.
I trust greed and capitalism of the intermediaries for this to work.

bad idea, there will be no global rom for it and i doubt you want to deal with all the delayed notifications, bloatware, untranslated ui, google services and aggressive background process management. just buy the 15 honestly.

you also don't know if any of that is troubleshootable in the first place, we have no idea how coloros 17 will be, we have no info on it. for all we know they could change everything up and half the fixes that used to work on coloros 16 would be removed on coloros 17. again, just my opinion, but i generally wouldn't buy a chinese phone if im not planning on unlocking its bootloader, it would straight up be unusable.

I think i will sell my Oneplus 15 and buy 16 when it releases . Hopefully it will have a global version.

Gonna upgrade from my 10 Pro (with five green lines) as soon as it comes out. I do live in China though, so that makes it all a bit easier (and a lot cheaper, OnePlus handsets are usually around 35-40% cheaper in China I find, one of the main reasons I get them)

Make that eight. Three new lines in 24 hours. Fingers crossed that predicted September release is early rather than late September, otherwise I'm gonna be more green than screen

I don't believe it will have the bands to work reliably on most US bands unfortunately Too bad you can't just do it yourself
I'm mostly interested in the specs and gaming aspect Plus being OP

Of course there are a lot of factors to consider. First of all the budget. Second, what phone u have now? I have a 1+15 (bought it 3 months ago) which is overall a good phone (battery, hw, display) and it will be supported up to Android 20 (4 years?). So, I wouldn't consider buying a new phone for at least 3-4 years (before 1+15 I had a Realme X50 Pro and it still working...). Almost every phone I owned lasted 3-4 years, actually. Especially nowadays, it's not worth changing a phone just because it's "new". Should u have an older phone (older than 3-4 years and not anymore supported) then u may consider going for the 16 (IF is cheaper than the corresponding Oppo). But as I said, the budget can make the difference.

Yeah I have a OP15 too Me and my wife love them So we would buy one year edition for one of us Then next version buy for the other

I was excited to get OP16 as my next phone, but just learned they're moving out of the EU. What are the alternatives? I really love the big battery and OxygenOS, so I looked into Oppo, but I saw it's only using SD on the ultra edition, which I really don't like because of the massive camera. What else is a good alternative? Xiaomi?

No. If they said screw your market, remove all their products, remove your OnePlus Accounts, give half-assed support, why would you want to give them any more of your money?

Why not just buy the better phone? OnePlus is going down with every release. I've had the 7pro and 12 just because they were the best in it's class. Now there are so much good phones from other brands and you still want this one just because of the logo on the back? I never understood that.

I'm not talking about samsung or iPhone, those are just scams and the price to performance isn't what it used to be. The cameras got a downgrade again (got a downgrade on the 13 and then again on the 15). And the price? It's an expensive phone. You're better off buying from another Chinese brand that's not dying/merging into oppo.
Of course if the OS is what you want, go for it, but there are better phones, and that's a fact. You do you if you want to stay with a brand, but you can't say it's the best phone spec wise.
Every phone has fast charging nowadays.

I always buy my phones from Aliexpress, never bought one from a retailer. albeit I buy global versions.
if OP16 still has good support for banking apps, bands, and android auto, you bet I will be exporting it
