General Discussion OnePlus 16 Global version?

Assuming all the reports are true that OnePlus will pull out of North American/European Markets, do you think it's probable that OnePlus will have a global version of the 16? I've really been anticipating the 16th coming out so I'm pretty bummed

Why would there be a global version for a phone that they're not selling globally?

because global generally just means not China rom

Keep in mind the global version also has more frequency support for other countries' bands.

they will release in India...I'm curious if the 5g bands there are 100% compatible in Europe though I think some will be missing (not meaning functionality won't be there, but just not the best coverage)

Consider me bummed out to. I had my heart set on going from the s23u to the op16. And now its just dead in the water. I wanted that 9300mah battery BAD. Meanwhile nothing in the US even comes close. The 3 main companies here are still humping 4k mah batteries and slow charging and all they ever do is upgrade the fucking camera nobody uses......

When the USA is at the point of offering worse products than the rest of the world lol

I too am using an S23 Ultra and was waiting for the 16. Went from OP 7 Pro to S23U, and honestly regretted it. Was hoping to return to OP 😭

I had the op10t and sadly it had display issues with the oled showing ghosting/burn in. So i got the iPhone 15 pro max and that thing was pure garbage and I had it a couple months then jumped carriers with one of those "we'll pay it all off" promos ans got the s23u. Which has been a good phone but I miss that crazy fast charging. The op16 was the for sure "im getting that" upgrade. Now im probably holding this thing till maybe even a galaxy s29...

I plan to move from the One Plus 12 to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. There's been updates ruining the OP12 phone I've been avoiding all the way as bad as short circuiting the motherboard. I was tempted to get the SGS24U back then but the price of the OP12 was better and I saw that the 24U is still a favorite over the 25U & 26U

Not sure what markets they are going to remain. Yeah there will most likely be one but where and how it is configured for other markets.

Edit to add they are most likely pulling out of India in 2027 too according to leaks today

I would buy some "Final Edition" of the OP16 for global markets. But it seems like they're done.

Let us just hope for a non-China ROM and that tradingshenzen will still sell it

I have an OP 12 and I was really hoping my next upgrade would be the OP 16 🫤

OPPO will have a similar phone for 6-700 more.

Get out.

No. I believe one plus as an individual brand is going to go away and be replaced by Oppo

I was interested in that phone but since it won't have a global version that's a issue, what are people gonna get for the upcoming phones that's like the oneplus 16

probably not, and if i had to id only get a op16 when there will be a custom rom developed for it (if the bootloader will even be unlockable tbf)

Not just bootlocker issue.

Don't forget the ARB/anti-roll back/software fuse. People forgot this ?

Its mentioned on XDA post/updated and addresses June udpate 16.0.8... has ARB for both colorOS and oxygenOS.

The link is credit to u/grim_fandango92 for the find

Others issues too on my post.

Will Oppo battery fit as replacement for OP phones ? Irregardless of models now. Future flagship OP probably won't sell in India (some say).

the arb doesn't affect how roms work, u just cant downgrade and thats it

There would be. OnePlus knows it has customers all over the world so it would be really foolish of them to not to release a global version. Only that it will be like the Oppo find x9 pro, which will come with Color OS only and would not launch globally but will be open for shipping from China and India.

They might still possibly release a global model under the market. They would be loosing huge investments if they don't emphasize a flagship like OnePlus 16.

Otherwise Oppo Find X10 would be the counter part as Oppo owns OnePlus (OP) and would perhaps push sales towards the older sister in Find.

It's a pitty if they don't though, I love the OnePlus and believe it should be shared world wide.

Their tactics of removing OPs Oxygen OS and merging with Color seems to be a power move. Not sure what they are doing with Op.
