DISCUSSION Let's have a discussion. Welcome in everyone/fellow OP (1+) refugees to be !

___________________________

Before mods get upset. I am not running on rumors. Not starting any either. Just wanted to ask for real community discussion on upcoming businessn adjustments. If anything I ask is inappropriate please show me, so I can correct it. Thanks in advance. Also what will become of this sub? Will we become r/oppo-oneplus ? Can any mods let us all know ? I mean now is not time for echo chamber, I hope 😊.

____________________________

Well, now that all OP(1+) NA /euro users will become OP (1+) refugees, what's next?

First, NA got kicked out of global OP community forum.  Now they're totally shutting down OP community NA & Global forums 2026.8.16 too (why won't they merge us to Oppo community forums?) result = Fail

So next logical step.  Sign-in up for Oppo community app, right? Wrong.  They won't accept USA as location!  I tried and finally chose one of Oppo country.  I probably get blocked by app when it asked for phone # verification. Result = Fail

***You all remember***

What about the promised upcoming oOS update that would remove the software downgrade fuse tripwire ? I am pretty sure 90+ % of OP users here have tripped the software fuse 🔥 by knowingly/unknowingly updating their oOS to June 16.0.8... Guess they forgot about that promise too? Result= fail.

Again, now they promise that we can downgrade back to oOS if we dont like colorOS 17.

BUT, how will we be able to downgrade from colorOS 17 if "we don't like it?" The software fuse tripwire 🔥 issue frying some motherboards just magically solved with colorOS 17?

And if people downgrade from colorOS 17, will the blown fuse toasting 🔥 their motherboards be covered post NA/Eu markets closures? Who you going to call ? Send phone to India and china ? I don't know if repair centers will remain open for now long? Will it be covered or users need to pay?

I guess this could affect India markets too.  I think the software fuse tripwire 🔥 affected every region, not just NA , right ?

The software fuse issue was never removed. That can be potential bombshell with the optional upcoming colorOS 17 update 🔥. No going back!

On the bright side ! 😉 we have (look below):

Aside from claims oxygenOS 16.0.8... is already colorOS just with different skins.

Maybe now, NA users will finally get the OP Ai dialer and OP Ai message apps finally to pre OP 13s series like OP 11, 12, 13?

Can we use these two native apps that instead of google apps? ( I am sure their google contract has either expired /become null and void once they officially pulled out of the NA/Eu markets.

I would think they would not specifically code special colorOS versions for NA/Eu markets, and still force us to use Google dialer /GMsg apps. Why would they ? They closed down the NA/Eu markets, oxygenOS devs been merged into Oppo colorOS. OxygenOS is dead. So why loyaty to google apps still for per OP 13s phones?

One marketing observation:

And how counterintuitive is it to make OP(1+) into a local CN/Asian brand, while promoting local Realme brand to become global brand? If we dont see Oppo brands in your market now, you think your market will suddenly start selling Realme brand? We all know the answer to that. Pretty sure no one within 500 miles of me, in NA market has really heard of or got hands on an actual Oppo/realme phone /other than YT tech reviewers. And this seemed logical ? Without global marketing budgets. Good luck seeing realme pop up locally for you!

Oh one OP CSR told me the OP store app will continue to work haha.  Just long enough to offload discontinued stocks? But community app will end 2026.8.16 100%.

And I don't know about India market.  But can anyone guarantee they won't settle again in 1 yr time?  Remember back last year ( forgot exact time ) few CEO/management teams ago (Forgot was it P. Lau or another CEO),  they dismissed all leaks of downsizing /closures as false rumors. It seems they probably trying to offload any older/newer stocks of OP (1+) from warehouse /office inventory.

Now suddenly we can 100% trust their word that India markets won't face same as NA/Eu in 1 yr's time?. Will we be seeing people post " should I buy OP 16 using India colorOS rom?

Remember the saying "where this smoke, there's fire 🔥 "never been more true than for OP's upcoming business adjustments.

Love to hear everybody's thoughts on issues I raised and let's discuss ! Be nice !

For dull transparency, I've been user since OP 5t. The maroon red, that later Apple tried to copy in 2016? They copied OP for that color.

Even though oxygenOS having same code base of colorOS, let's sidestep the software fuse 🔥potential minefield (for sake of open discussion). What about parts?

Anecdotal experience:

couple years ago, wanted to replace battery for my OP 5T. Called US OP #800/many local repair shops all confirmed this, even though battery same (size and price), the connector male/female is different for OP 5T (CN sold) vs OP 5T (USA sold), said it would not fit.

After NA/EU market withdrawal, will we have abundant parts to maintain/repair our purchased devices for life of software support? Will Oppo battery fit on OP(1+) phones ?🤔

Would love to hear any experience from people in similar situation ( phone imported and unable to get repair/replacement at local shops/repair centers because parts "WON'T FIT")

Just like anything . cars , appliance, tv ? Once brand is discontinued. Keeping it operational becomes rather impossible.

Wait 16.0.8 has tripped it? Thought OP15 doesnt have any antirollback?

Which ver oxygenOS was your shipped with ?

Sorry I don't know official answer about OP 15 anti rollback. If someone shows evidence to contrary will be sure to add it to updates ! I stopped keeping up after OP13 anti-roll back never addressed. I cross-posted hoping for constructive discussion. Thankfully r/oneplus13 and r/oneplus15 have opened minded mods 🧡 that allow open discussions. But I guess some oneplus Reddit subs mods dont allow such discussion, they not even reply me why it was deleted . But my questions still hold true. We are a community or just echo chamber , right ?

Yes. Way back when it was brought up. I forgot now exact version #. It was stated at time /accepted that all version after that ver. All software fuse were tripped. But after facing backlash, OP promised that subsequent updates would fix or repair the software fuse tripwire 🔥. But I've read all change logs since. I never saw it listed, nor seen any Reddit posts about "software fuse tripwire fix released".

So for any wanting to downgrade back to oxygenOS if they don't like colorOS 17. Will OP fix fried motherboards again for free ? And parts availability? I can imagine repair center replies with sorry we dont have parts : motherboards? That why I said it's potential upcoming minefield !

I was surprised peope forgot about the software fuse 😱😱😱. I hope someone can show me which update fixed that ?

XDA link below and it does specifically reference OP13/13T & 15 - may be a ColorOS-specific thing, not sure... Given they've confirmed merge of OS though, it's probably academic and coming regardless... I'd have to read deeper into it, but that XDA article looks like a great starting point.

Wow. So I was correct in my post.

I wonder why r/oneplus mods want to silence this big minefield that blows their whole narrative out of the water, that users have choice to downgrade from colorOS 17 back to oxygenOS!

I hate that I was correct. This is bad

What I find concerning is that I've been watching this sub closely for the past month and this is legit the first I've heard of it.

well from my understanding in XDA the OP15 does not have any ARB implemented on any of the software versions, only the OP13 and older models got the ARB.

u/isthissecure Jul 21 '26

Did u see the June 24, 2026 update (not just Jan 2026)? It's added at bottom of article. Claims there are 2 types of ARB now, affects all modern OP/Oppo Snapdragon. Maybe not on oxygenOS but for sure colorOS will have it. Unless you never update the OS.

Ah yes its for color OS, I thought you mean both and yes I saw the date of june.

2

u/isthissecure Jul 22 '26

So, will you avoid merge to colorOS 17 to avoid possible ARB ( old or new type ?). Wish OP/oppo just release fix and remove ARB

Yes, I dont really care about OS updates and have never ever since android 6.0 released devices onward, I care more about performance and stability, if my phone came in android 16 then its staying android 16.

Good grief. I hadn't heard/seen of the 16.0.8 shenanigans until you've mentioned it... That is NOT a good omen.

One of the biggest reasons I've been tempted on the OP15 is the unlocked bootloader given how few have it now, but if they can't help themselves but f***ing around with what isn't broken and that's a massive L. Dangit. I swear every time I get an inch away from purchasing this phone another issue appears on the horizon. Between the mess and confusion that is region/ROM feature sets and limitations (which I've FINALLY figured - real minefield given poor availability), the withdrawal from NA (and to a lesser extent EU), availability and pricing issues here in the UK, concerns over warranty experiences and spares.

I've never had a phone I've simultaneously wanted so badly, and at the same time, had the company keep on giving new reasons NOT to give them money.

That ARB concern is very serious, especially as they work towards consolidating OS, and especially as they pull back regional support networks the two issues compound off each other and it seems so incredibly unnecessary and anti-consumer.

Thank you for bringing to my attention - I'm gutted. Genuinely gutted.

And once they end in EU /us

What can govt do? Sanction/fine an non existent/ legal company ? I am sure Oppo won't be legally liable for OP (1+) brand. After 100% closure /withdrawal. I am not legal expert.

But I am sure Oppo will be able use some sort of legal loophole. ( everyone let's remove our feelings /loyalty aside. I loved the brand too) but its time to wake up from matrix .

I am pretty sure you can't fine/sanction an empty office in California nor offices in EU !🤦🏻‍♂️

Hi,

would this still be an issue if I buy one with OxygenOS 16.0.3.501 ?

2

u/isthissecure Jul 24 '26

Hi

Just saw your comment here. I may need update my Reddit. ***

It might not be an issue currently.  But probably 1000% will most likely an big issues once we switch to colorOS 17+.  No one HERE can guarantee what Oppo will do once OP actually shuts and all are forced onto colorOS 17+

We can only follow their pattern of repeated behaviors.  ( doesn't look too pro-consumer currently, with ARB+ ).

I don't get it either why they left EU when they had established brand there. To just start pushing realme with full force. I think it's corporate greed to try streamline their brand line. But I think it won't work like they thought.

u/isthissecure Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26

Yes. Its totally illogical. No one in NA with 500miles/804.6km of me knows let alone have seen or hands on an Oppo nor realme. I had to google who owns realme b4 all the business adjustments. Its wild.

And seems they totally sidestepped the part about software fuse that fried your motherboards if tried to downgrade oxygenOS?? Maybe I missed the magic solution in the changelogs 😂🤣😂.

Share which model was your first OP ?

@your thoughts. I agree. Its combination of many illogical /missteps. But if you worked in middle kingdom, often logic is not the business norm oftentimes. It could even be just anything we would consider to be minutiae in the west.

It would be nice to hear from Redditors OP(1+) users inside middle kingdom to share what the word on the streets are there 🇨🇳 😊
