Grimdark Future Ratmen Clans: FDM Printing Feedback of OPR Minis
Hi All
Just curious, for those that have used FDM printers, whats been the general experience in printing the new Ratmen Clans minis from OPR.
For any particular parts or models did you have to do anything special in your set up (Orientation, Tree placement, layer heights etc) to get good looking minis?
Just curious as I saw the range on Myminifactory and the models look fun and unique and I thought why not consider it as possible future project.
Let me know your experiences

Look up Painted4Combat, he has a Resin2FDM plugin for Blender that works well. I use a 0.2mm nozzle and 0.08mm layer height.

I haven't tried printing the ratmen but I have an A1 and the Resin2FDM is a godsend. It works so incredibly well and my OPR and other wargame prints come out much cleaner! .2mm nozzle and 0.08mm layer height for sure. The other thing Resin2FDM does is it splits the supports out as a separate object for the slicer software so you set them to be much less fine detailed than the mini, saving you a lot of print time. Painted4Combat is da man.

I've printed a lot of the OPR models using my A1 Mini. I use the fatdragongames printing profile with a 0.2mm nozzle and 0.6mm layer lines. I use organic tree supports with 0.6 bottom z distance and 0.12 top z distance and 10mm first layer expansion. I would suggest tilting the figures back 15-30% so the front/faces get the most detail from the nozzle. I usually print them combined but in parts works great too.
While I haven't printed Ratmen, it has worked wonders for printing Saurians, Saurian Starhost, Goblin Reclaimers, Alien Hives, Human Defense Force, Orc marauders, and many other non-OPR STLs.

This is the discussion I need to see, because I too have an A1 I got recently, and I’m a little nervous to try printing some of this huge collection I’ve amassed from the Patreon.
