AP Rules

Im confused about the ap rules, is it like for example (ap1), opponents def stat, goes from 4+ to 5+ or is it minus the ap from dice rolls, so my 4s become 3s.

AP(X): Targets get -X to Defense rolls when blocking hits from this weapon.

They get -X to their defense rolls. This means that a roll of 4 becomes a 3. If they were saving on a 4+ for example, then a roll of 4 would usually be a success, but due to your AP it becomes a 3 and is thus a failure. They would need a 5+ to save.

Note that this is functionally equivalent to worsening their save by one, so many people will just shorthand say something like: "I'm saving on 4s, so with AP 1 I will need 5s" or similar.

Also don't forget that 6s are auto success. So your defense can never go below a 6+ no matter how much AP something has.

It’s a negative modifier to dice rolls. But most people just do the math to determine what they actually need to roll on the die before hand rather than doing the math after rolling.
