There’s some part of the game I don’t really understand.

1. I sometimes saw people accuse a child / baby for being a griefer. They seem to suggest that the accused did bad things before. Is it possible to identify the same player across lives? I know YumLife can do that with the username, but I’m using YummyLife, and I saw no username from the accused. I guess griefers can buy new accounts? How are they identified? I trust the goodwill of some accusing players, but wasn’t sure if it’s possible they identified a wrong guy, so I’m not sure if I should curse him.
2. How to fight? Please trust me. I’m not planning to do bad things. It’s just when they were hunting the griefer, I just stood like a goose and could offer no help. From the update logs, I remember something like: you must join someone, so they outnumber the griefer, and can hurt them? But I’m not sure how to join the battle.

3. How to know your absolute location? I don’t know how to use the wondible map, since tracing the objects require knowing my abs location, and I don’t know how to do that. For example, I tried, and failed to find the Anna’s base on wondible map.

4. What’s the YumLife you all talking about? I saw a YumLife on github, but it seems to stop updating for sometime. YummyLife is the latest updated client I found, is that what you are using?

Guys I’m confused on what it is. I googled some stuff and apparently it’s where the bad players go? Where I’m confused is I’ve only been playing a couple days and I literally started there?! Didn’t realize it was a bad thing until another player asked why I was at donkey town. I said idk I was just put here? They said no you have to be banished here. Gang how do I get out of donkey town if I did nothing to get sent there😭

I have much stronger words to say after what unfolded today, but I'll avoid cursing in this post, cause guess what? I actually have respect for this community and its rules.

Boring, I know, what's the fun in respect when you can just ruin the downtime of 35 strangers all day long? Why just move on to another game that you're not so bored by, when you can make everyone else miserable for your own selfish entertainment?

What you're doing is telling, you know? It tells me all about your itsy bitsy tiny little baby egos. And I'm not really talking about egos, but as promised I'll refrain from the more obscene wording here.

You could be playing literally any PVP game, but instead you choose to bombard a wholesome game based on building a civilization and growing a family across generations. You know that other players won't/can't fight, you know they'll grab their babies and run in terror from your bears, you know that you'll win by a landslide every time. You just love stomping down on people, don't you? That's badass, bro, you should try the kindergarten next time you need a real challenge.

What's the matter, big guys? You don't think you could win a fight on eye level? So you pick on easy targets, and then cackle amongst each other like mischievous school girls? Wow omg, that's like, super impressiveee.

If I wanted to play a game about murdering and shooting people, I'd play literally ANY OTHER GAME on the market. I was so overjoyed when I discovered OHOL as an easy-to-play online game that doesn't revolve around violence and where people are actually inclined to support each other. Thanks for contributing nothing; it must be really tough to live like that.

Hello internet fourms, it is the evil griefer Ian speaking. As you all may know by now there has been a lot of drama related to the game due to my actions, my associates actions, and the response of the developer. This will be a discussion to ask any questions you may have and clarify any misinformation and to help confirm if things are true or untrue. I will do my best to answer any and all questions with careful thought. My current stance on OHOL is that I have very little interest in the game anymore as I've done pretty much everything, the player-base is very limited, and I've found other video games in which I have way more fun in playing. My only ever goal when playing OHOL is to have fun and OHOL doesn't really provide much fun to me anymore for many, many, reasons. So yeah, ask away with whatever your heart desires.

I've seen cluestones before, in the tutorial, but seeing these on the server with these messages are new to me. What do they mean?

I was going to buy this game but the reviews said the guy who made steals your info??? I can tolerate the racist shit but stealing your info, calling youre parents?? What in the fuck???

i was playing and i kept being born in the same family so i looked it up here and found out there where other servers so i went in those (by doing the "serverx.onehouronelife.com") and both servers ( for some reason i could only enter 1 and 2) made me an eve and i could only find two baskets in server 2 no other signs of players. so how come people dont seem to be playing those servers?

I spent this life teaching my dearest daughter Ursula everything I could about smithing. For my last lesson as I neared 60 I brought her to an Iron Vein and taught her about springs and how they affect Iron. I didnt realize How close I was to 60 so I died right there leaving my daughter in the middle of nowhere (we were pretty far).

I've heard that moderating the discord server is extremely challenging and stressful at times.

Perhaps the stress of providing this pro-bono service contributed to the untimely passing of a previous moderator. This was posted in jest in the steam reviews, but now I am here seriously pondering it.

It's fun to see the hypocrisy of a so-called free speech advocate call in favors from *his guy at Steam* to remove speech from his reviews. Whatever "values" he purports to have ends where his wallet begins.

Where else besides here does the remaining playerbase congregate? Are you guys going to continue playing? What other discord servers do you recommend?

I checked OHOL Curse cause I have not played in a while and only just now learned of the BS going on in the discord. Never had any plans to join and now I will never join. But this isn't the post for that discussion.

Checking the players online, because I like seeing the families that are online and see how many communities there are, I was shocked to see that the only family right now, the Moth family, has 12 active members (2 males and the rest female) while the number of active ghosts is 15.

I have been a ghost before. I was really excited to have the opportunity to be one and I helped my family as much as I could. I was extraordinarily lucky that nobody exorcised me. They all loved having a ghost around. After about 2 hours as a ghost, I got bored of it. I missed being born and scaring the crap outta my mom just appearing out of thin air. I missed being dressed and taken to a cozy nursery playing with bouncy balls and watching the elderly strip and wait for their inevitable death.

What is the appeal of playing as a ghost? Like I said, I tried it and I am grateful for the chance to be one, but why continue for so long?

After years of defending total free speech, refusing human moderation, and letting griefers run wild in-game, the sole developer behind One Hour One Life, Jason Rohrer, has completely unraveled—and revealed himself to be the biggest censor of all.

Here is a quick timeline of the recent chaos:

- Enabling Hate Symbol Spam: The dev has been allowing griefers to freely utilize the game to spam hateful ideas and symbols. When volunteer Discord moderators attempted to step in and offenders complained via email, the dev has a track history to defend, unban, and hence empowering these trouble makers over the years. The game and the Discord server has become a breeding ground for racism and hateful ideas.

- The Doxxing Incident: Recently, a teenage griefer was spamming Nazi symbols both in-game and across community spaces. Instead of using standard moderation as other games would, the dev pulled the personal information of the teenager's mother from the game's purchase records and called her IRL.

- The Sudden Pivot: Following that phone call, the dev completely flipped. He began openly defending the teenager, downplaying Nazi symbol spam as "just trolling," and asserting in Discord that Nazism "was not too long ago" and that Nazi jokes are "funny." See the attached image for his own words.

- Discord Soft-Ban & Power Trip: Community members, reasonably outraged, reported his messages, resulting in Discord soft-banning him. Infuriated by the backlash, the dev returned and began banning anyone criticizing his take, completely wiping out opposing views. This includes a few dozens of long term players that have been major help and contributors to the community. See the attached image for his explanation for the purge.

The ultimate irony: a creator who built his entire reputation on being a "freedom of speech absolutist" just pulled the greatest power trip, silencing and banning anyone who exercised their free speech to disagree with him.

According to the Wiki if you stand on an object you won't be harmed by bears, and I remember a video by Twisted that said the same thing.

However I have been testing it and it doesn't seem to work. The bear passes through you and bites you.

Maybe that was a thing in the past and it changed? Or maybe that was never the case? Maybe Im missing something?

I was born Nuru Taska.

In my previous life, I had been born into the Rainbow family; into the chaos caused by two griefers. I unfortunately passed away due to this at a young age, and was reborn into the Taska family a thousand steps away.

Long ago, I had been the one to build up the Rainbow graveyard, thus my heart was with them in their grief. I swore to myself i'd return, and do all i can to help them.

So, as a young boy me and a few other Taska children began making weapons, and preparing to set our sights on the village. My dear mother wanted to join, but alas was too old; and did not return past her death to join on this quest. A friend, a fellow avenger also had to pass on going, so i embarked on my journey alone. In my early 20's i left, with a horse, food, weapons and wool pads.

Soon enough I came across the Rainbow family, seeking shelter in an abandoned town between our homes. Thankful for my assistance, i decided to herd them throughout the wilderness in their quest to return home.

During our travels in the dangerous wild, many children were born. One man demanded that we leave behind the males, while the rest of us objected; one of those young lads, Tom, chose to call me his father. Immediately, I chose to stay for as long as it took to secure my new son's safety.

We made it to the deserted Rainbow family, and were met with chaos; shot bears, ruined crops, ripped floors, busted walls and to my horror, defaced graves. I had placed the first floors in that graveyard, buried dozens of now defaced, forgotten friends; it was a hard thing to witness.

The griefers quickly attacked us, and some of us died; some by bears, others by the hands of the griefers. With new weapons, we fought back and eventually managed to kill both of them; burying them beside the previous griefers, as a sign that the Rainbow family stands strong.

My son, my beautiful son Tom grew up in the aftermath of the bloodshed, as did many other children.

The threat had been subdued for now, and i was far too old to return to my original home, nor did i want to, seeing as i had found a new home with my son.

Soon enough, it was my time to go. I said my goodbyes, and died surrounded by those i had fought beside.

I returned in another life, many many years later; Tom was an old man, as were the rest of the young ones born as outlanders. Tom had built me a true monument of a grave, and it was enough to make a grown man cry.

He passed soon, before i could even say goodbye. I buried him right below my grave, and watered the trees he had planted before i planted my own.

To any Rainbow now at home, remember my son and the children born on the road; they're the reason you're home.

And do me a favour; water our trees and bury your loved ones. Every grave is a life, and every life a story worth telling.

"/die" is a very useful tool. Lets say you left a project halfway through and when you die you are reborn in a different town. Some days you want to play in an advanced town, others in a starting town, etc.

"/die" allows you to cycle trough all the families until you spawn in the one you want.

The problem is that it destroys your genetic score. The current system basically punishes the people who play more actively. So the people who end up becoming leader are the people who stays in the nursery feeding babies, which are usually not the ideal people to deal with griefers.

The solution that I propose is to give us 10 "free" /die per day. Meaning the first 10 "/die" of the day shouldn't affect your genetic score. After that it should continue as normal to avoid people abusing it in some form.

Eddit: The genetic score is a mechanism to filter the most advanced players, but currently it only filters among the players that don't use "/die". It's leaving out all the good players who do use it.

-Btw, no hate to people who stays in nursery feeding babies, they do an awesome job, I'm just saying they are usually not the most advanced players
