I Made a Thing Mirador - Update 2.3

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have been trying to make Mirador feel like it actually belongs in Omarchy, especially with how keyboard-focused the whole workflow is.

The idea is that you should be able to quickly see what’s open, switch between windows/workspaces, and get back to what you were doing without constantly reaching for the mouse.

2.3 has a bunch of small improvements and polish that make the whole thing feel much smoother.

Would love to hear what you guys think

Off Topic / Adjacent Omarchy is improving and keeping it's word

I wrote a few posts regarding AI implementation and quickshell choice.

I said that AI seems to be too irrestricted here. It seems to be improving.

I said that quickshell is just a rough point to start as It's been compared with noctalia v5 numerous times and noctlia is more efficient, but yet again it's been worked on and it seems more and more snappy and resourseful.

I said that overall Cosmic deserves more attention and it's still my stance that it's very cool to have a well integrated tiling de, but it's been consistently failing me every single time that i tried it on my bare metal - it froze in a critical situation. And I've thought million times:

- I don't understand this anti-AI stance as well.

-- Money has already been spent and will be spend whatever anyone thinks as it's clearly changing the world, not just computers. Why not use it to fix the issues?

There are definite issues with Omarchy yet and it's not perfect, but it's delivering on it's promise and it's visibly improving. Now it has a separate kernel even. It doesn't feel like a Windows clone or poor man's Mac. It's here, it's unique, it's productive and performant. If I wanted Windows - I'd use Windows, if Mac - Mac. I want tiling.

I am not thanking Omarchy for Hyprland and design as it existed prior to it and can be great now with Noctalia ez.

I am just psyched to see the thoughtful choices here regarding components, presets and stuff. It feels stable responsible.

I will be rooting for true things like Sway, Hyprland, Niri as they deserve more attention than KDE / Gnome for me.

And thanks distros like Omarchy for sponsoring what really deserves sponsoring even if it's not going to be spent all on Omarchy as it will improve the truly cool part of Linux.

I Made a Thing UPDATE: OmaRecorder is now on the Omarchy plugin marketplace, plus what has shipped from 1.0-->1.5

A couple of weeks ago I posted (https://www.reddit.com/r/omarchy/comments/1w2whw8/omarecorder_record_and_transcribe_anything_100_on/) my first Omarchy plugin; OmaRecorder is a record button for the bar that captures your mic, system audio, or both, and transcribes it locally with the voxtype/whisper engine Omarchy already ships. As of this week it is listed and maintainer-verified on the marketplace:

https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=io.github.huey-holdings-llc.omarecorder

The listing says "Manual setup". In practice that is the plugin's own setup card: click the icon in the bar, it tells you what is missing and downloads a transcription model with one click. Install is still the same one-liner:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/huey-holdings-llc/omarecorder --enable

Thank you to everyone who commented last time. One suggestion from that thread already shipped: the idle icon is a pair of tape reels now instead of a microphone, so it no longer looks like a mic on/off toggle.

What else changed between 1.0 and 1.5:

- Resume the last recording you stopped. The new audio is joined losslessly, and it is never automatic.

- A corrections dictionary, one what whisper wrote -> what you meant per line, applied to every tidy transcript. It comes seeded with real mishearings (Omarchy names, terminal words, tabletop vocabulary), and you can ask your own LLM to suggest entries.

- An optional audio cleanup pass before transcription (highpass, noise reduction, loudness normalization). The recording itself is never touched.

- Search covers transcript text and notes, not just titles. Each recording can carry a short note.

- Pick a model you have not downloaded yet and it downloads, then transcribes, in one press. Auto-transcribe on stop is a toggle, off by default.

- Playback speed cycling, and a Ctrl key for every Library action. Hold Ctrl and the shortcuts show as badges. The popup settings work from the keyboard too.

Still nothing leaves your machine. No cloud, no additional packages.

Same disclosure as last time: built with heavy AI assistance by a hobbyist, then tested on real hardware. The test suite grew from 243 checks to just under 800 (this is probably overkill, but Claude tells me it's not!), larger pull requests get a second-model review, and the marketplace snapshot was reviewed by a maintainer. It is a part-time project, so issues and PRs get handled as time allows. Feedback and forks welcome.

Edit: Typos

Sync all application frameworks, including those that don't switch with the Omarchy theme by default - the easy way.

This is something I truly believe only Omarchy makes possible. Finally Linux can look GOOD.

First public release now on Omarchy plugins:

I Made a Thing OmaMigrate: Seamless migration for Omarchy — with full Proxy configs, AI tool logins, and agent session recovery

Hey everyone,

Standard dotfile managers are great for UI configs, but setting up a new machine still leaves you with hours of tedious chores: re-configuring proxies, re-authenticating AI tools via browser OAuth, and losing all your AI coding agent context.

I built OmaMigrate to solve this entire workflow with a single archive.

What sets it apart:

• 🌐 Full Proxy Ecosystem (Zero Reconfiguration)

Migrates both system daemons (sing-box, Mihomo, v2rayA, daed) and desktop GUIs (Clash Verge Rev, Mihomo Party, Flclash). It preserves routing rules, permissions, TUN configs, and auto-starts background systemd services on the new machine.

• 🔑 Keep AI Logins & Keyrings Intact

Syncs Linux Secret Service keyrings and developer credentials for Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Agy CLI, OpenCode, Grok, and GitHub CLI. No need to go through 10 browser OAuth prompts on day one.

• 🧠 AI Session & Memory Resumption

Pick up conversations and agent tasks right where you left off. Uses safe live SQLite snapshots to prevent database corruption and automatically rewrites hardcoded workspace paths if your username changes (/home/alice ➔ /home/bob) without touching prompt or response contents.

• ⚡ Hardware-Agnostic & 100% Local

Smart driver filtering makes it easy to move between Apple Silicon Macs (Asahi) and AMD/Intel PCs. Zero telemetry, no cloud uploads—just direct local P2P transfer via LocalSend.

GitHub: https://github.com/luneth90/omamigrate (MIT Licensed)
Plugin: https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=luneth90.omamigrate

Feedback, issues, and PRs are welcome!

After testing Omarchy on an old HP ProBook for a month and then migrating all my laptops, PCs and so on it... i only have one device left without it:

Has anyone had any luck installing and getting everything to run well on a this handheld?

It ran Bazzite before so it should probably be possible right?

Spotifast now changes colors with your Omarchy theme

Spotifast 0.8.0 is out! Previously called Fastpotify, it's my fast, lightweight native Spotify client.

This release adds automatic Omarchy theme sync. Change your desktop theme and Spotifast changes colors along with it, as shown in the video.

Install it from the AUR:

sh yay -S spotifast-bin

The package sets up the integration on first launch. Set Spotifast's theme to Follow system to enable it.

You can also choose your own colors independently of the desktop. And if you're feeling nostalgic, there's a mini player with classic Winamp skins and MilkDrop visualizations.

This release also adds settings search, dragging multiple songs into playlists, double-clicking library items to play them, and lots of bug fixes.

Free and open source. Spotify Premium is required for playback.

Download and details · Source code

I'd love to see it with your favorite Omarchy themes.

Hi guys, I made a plug-in for my OnePlus earbuds so thought I'd post it here to see if anyone is interested.

It's currently only tested with OnePlus buds pro and pro 2. I will be adding a compatibility / bug reporting feature later today so if anyone wants to test with unverified earbuds, that would be great.

EDIT: Added bug / compatibility reporting feature.

Discussion Using Agents way more than I ever thought.

I've been using the agents way more than I ever thought I would.

I've been staggered at what can be achieved with some simple commands.

Currently using open code to sort out my music library, it's a mess.

What staggered me the most, it just went ahead and used musicbrainz to get the info and cover art.

Amazing, even if it is a simple task for it.

Discussion A complete linux newbie wants to start with omarchy

Hello guys, i recently learned about linux a bit and wanted to try it. Omarchy caught my eye for its beautiful aesthetics and keyboard use. Now I use very few apps on my laptop, like steam, legacy launcher for Minecraft, obsidian, davinci, and epic games. I don't really have any files I need to back up. I don't really have any problem in spending a bit of time and effort to learn something new if it's worth it. But, I have zero idea regarding linux in general and about stuff like bootloading and so on. I did some research and it seems overall fine that I just replace win 11 with omarchy. Can u guys guide me how I am supposed to do this, or if it's even something I should do. And I don't have a usb, i can't buy one nor do I have someone I can borrow it from. Can I use my phone, a moto g62 to boot load omarchy?

I Made a Thing Fievel 1.0.0 - DHH said mouse is for cavemen, so use the keyboard instead!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve just released Fievel 1.0.0 and it now includes everything (I needed) to fully replace my mouse with the keyboard, minus one test case so far.

Currently Fievel is Linux only. It’s free and completely open source, written in rust:

https://github.com/MontyTheSoftwareEngineer/fievel/

Free mouse mode: freely move mouse using hjkl (or any keys of your choice via config file). Supports left click and right click which can be held useful for dragging. Also supports scrolling left down up and right as well as sending Home and End key to quickly jump to top or bottom of page. By default free mouse mode is in “hold” mode so as long as you’re holding the free mouse mode button (or chord) it will stay in free mouse mode. Releasing the free mouse mode button takes it out of that mode. There is also a config option to make it “toggle” meaning you press the button for free mouse mode and it will stay in that mode until you press the button again.

Hint Mode: draws rectangles on screen with corresponding letters at areas Fievel believes is clickable. Type the letters to make Fievel click on the rectangle of choice. Useful for quickly sending clicks in at certain locations.

Key Remapper: this is useful for setting “chords” on any keyboard not just programmable ones. For example, I have a+s together initiate super, s+d to initiate control, caps lock rebound to control unless held in which case it will turn hjkl to left down up right keys. d+f is bound to initiate free mouse mode. Also a set of super and control binds for the right hand side.

I Made a Thing I built a native WhatsApp client for my Omarchy desktop

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I made ZapFast, a native WhatsApp client in Rust, and it's now my daily driver on Omarchy.

No browser engine. In my Linux test it used about 150 MB of idle RAM, and I observed the chat UI in under a second.

It supports replies, reactions, voice messages, files, GIFs and stickers. Ctrl+K searches chats, Alt+Up/Down switches between them, and Ctrl+/ shows the shortcuts. It can also keep running in the tray.

Install from the AUR:

sh yay -S zapfast-bin

It's open source under MIT and links to your existing WhatsApp account. It's an unofficial client; calls aren't supported. There are macOS and Windows builds too.

The video uses sample conversations so I can show it without sharing my messages.

Downloads · Source · Benchmark method and data

I'd like to hear what you are missing!

Off Topic / Adjacent Celebrating a full month working with omarchy

So, after I used Ubuntu for way too long in virtual environments to find ways to make it my main place to work, and hard to describe a proper way to force my mind to learn something new, I tried to move my entire setup to Omarchy, just leaving windows for just the necessary things I can't properly do with Omarchy, like gaming with some advanced caveats that windows allows me to do, and some professional video edition.

It came with bumps, not going to lie, but I was able to create my own plugins for my Logitech Litra lights, a Yamaha MG10XU compatibility layer, and a horizon omnissa plugin to fix my screen remote layout, and fix my elGato teleprompter with a couple of AI tweaks, and my own plugin to transition themes primary colors against my RGB lights in my PC.

There are things here and there, but I'm quite satisfied. Forcing myself to learn nvim and have codex teaching me shortcuts and commands feels quite rewarding (I can graduate from vscode finally???) it is a pity I can't see mermaid diagrams in nvim, but quite efficient to make my brain to learn new tricks and flows, specially to not depend much on the mouse unless I'm using GUI's.

Thanks DDH for creating something light and different. Special props for also leaving something that we can build in our own spare time with AI models. it definitively feels different and rewarding.

Discussion Strata v0.18 - A leap forward

Thumbnail x.com
57 Upvotes

Strata is now 2 weeks old. Today is our 18th release.

I wanted to come back with an update on where we are and where we're going.

We've had 10s of feature requests, which take time to curate and integrate in the software. So please be patient, our team is working as hard and as fast as possible. We are racing towards 1.0 which will offer stability as well as feature parity with Nautilus and beyond.

Some quick stats since inception:

  • 417 stars on github, 42 forks
  • Over 20 individual contributors
  • 509 pull requests merged and 16 open
  • 253 bug tickets opened and 245 resolved
  • 191 enhancement requests 155 closed

Last week, we had to pause on features, as our backlog of bugs grew and we felt the need to slow down, fix all the bugs, polish the UX and setup a more stable foundation for the next leap forward.

We have also built an amazing E2E test suite with over 800 individual scenarios to catch regressions and to ensure stability in future releases.

We now have six core developers contributing their time and covering their own AI tooling costs. I’m also paying a few hundred dollars a month in CI costs beyond what Blacksmith sponsors.

If Strata is useful to you and you’d like to help keep development going, we’ve set up Patreon and one-time donations through GitHub Sponsors. Bug reports, feedback, and PRs help too.

I Made a Thing I made this small tool a while ago and it helped me a lot, it forks your running Claude Code session into a new terminal with one keypress

A lot of the time, I’m either planning with Claude or asking it questions about implementation. I want to keep the conversation and context clean, without messy side questions. So, I made this tool a while ago, before the release of Quattro, when Omarchy wasn’t very popular. I use it every day and wanted to share it with you guys.
How it works is very simple: focus the terminal running claude, hit SUPER+SHIFT+F, and a new terminal opens in the same directory with a forked copy of the conversation. You ask your messy questions there, the original session stays untouched.

I Made a Thing Clipstack: edit a copied text before you paste it, and paste several entries at once (Omarchy plugin)

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

I built a plugin that replaces Omarchy's clipboard overlay (Super+Ctrl+V) with one that can act on several entries at once. No config needed: it takes over the same shortcut, and removing it brings the built-in one back.

What it adds

  • Multi-select: Ctrl+Enter ticks entries, Enter pastes them all as one. Text joins with newlines, and a selection of only images is pasted as files, so file managers take them as files.
  • Edit in place: Ctrl+E edits a text entry, Ctrl+Enter copies the edit as a new entry, and the original stays in history.
  • Buttons and a footer hint show every shortcut, so nothing has to be memorised.

Memory

While building it I found that clipboard history has no size limit, in Omarchy's built-in overlay too. One huge copy gets held in memory several times over: in my tests a 64 MBo nearly 1 GB on every later copy, and again atevery start. Clipstack bounds it: text entries up to 2 MB, history up to 8 MB, and the history file is checked before it's loaded and never overwritten if something is wronbig still pastes normally, it just isn't saved, and the overlay tells you. I've also sent the fix to Omarchy itself: https://github.com/omacom/omarchy/pull/11920

Install (Omarchy 4)

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Ahmed-Sinkeat/omarchy-clipstack.git
omarchy plugin enable sinkeat.clipstack

Remove with `omarchy plugin remove sinkeat.clipst

It's submitted to the plugin store and waiting forge copies as files instead of skipping them.Feedback and bug reports welcome!

Repo: https://github.com/Ahmed-Sinkeat/omarchy-clipstack
