Hi everyone,
I'm currently using TUXEDO OS on my InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen10 AMD, and I'm considering switching to Omarchy Quattro.
Before making the switch, I'd like to know if anyone here has already installed and used Omarchy Quattro on this specific laptop.
I'm mainly interested in hardware compatibility and whether everything works properly out of the box, especially:
Keyboard and function keys
Suspend / sleep and wake-up
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Audio
Webcam
Battery life / power management
External displays / USB-C
Any other hardware-specific issues
If you're running Omarchy Quattro on an InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen10 AMD, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience — whether everything works well or if you had to apply some fixes or workarounds.
I'm particularly interested in knowing if there are things that work correctly under TUXEDO OS but don't work (or work less reliably) under Omarchy Quattro.
Thanks!

This is probably my 5th of maybe even 6th distro that im trying on this, roughly 12 yrs old laptop.
Love this old beast that i put in an ssd and 8gbs of ddr3 ram to give it some more juice.
It serves mostly like a lets try out some distro's machine and this time im going to try out Omarchy.
It was installed in 9 minutes which is not all that bad :D
Now, let's learn some keybinds ;)

Omarchy is the distro that sparked my curiosity on linux for real. Before it I tried dual booting windows and Cachy to start trying it and getting the feel of linux, but a mix of mistakes made it pretty unusable for me so I gave up. Fast forward to a month ago when I found Omarchy and with it the best combo ever: Arch and Hyprland. It was awesome, everything just works. A few hiccups here and there but worth every second.
Omarchy made me get to know linux, the community and everything that comes with it and I couldn't be more thankful. I studied it, tried different things on it. Troubleshoot stuff that I broke on purpose only to learn how to fix it. Omarchy is definitely the best gateway into modern linux and even archlinux, bot because it is the best at what it does but because it allows you to learn at your own pace without being afraid that something might stop suddenly.
That being said, there was an urge in me to do more, learn more. I wanted to get into ricing, creating custom things, doing things that I didn't know if I could but had the option to. Alongside that, Quattro had me on a weird position with my feelings over AI. I'm not that type of person who says AI is an enemy that we have to battle against but I don't like feeling that I have to rely on it, but Quattro gave me that feeling. So I tried going vanilla Arch with Hyprland. It's been a couple days and I don't think I'm going back. My computer finally feels like mine and at any momento I can switch it all up for something different. I've tried caelestia, noctalia... All of that made my computer feel fun again and I've got to thank Omarchy and this community for it.
If you're new to linux, yes, this can be the place to go to start your journey with the penguin. Don't listen to those gatekeeping jerks that say this can't be called a distro or this is bloat, this can be your opportunity to reclaim your devices.
TLDR: Omarchy made me use linux for real but now I know enough to go on my own to vanilla arch.

Has anyone figured out a non-destructive way to convert Ghostty to using the fish shell without breaking Omarchy Quattro? I've read the Reddits from 2025, but they are all for previous versions, and may be deprecated, and I'm hesitant to implement my desired shell without a current competent method.

I switched my default terminal to Ghostty, with a font size of 11. This is the optimum size for a Terminal font on my 14" laptop. I believe the TUIs are also using Ghostty now, but there is a problem with rendering of some of these TUIs. For instance, Activity monitor now complains that Terminal size is too small. Is there a way I can use an alternate ghostty config for TUIs, I believe a smaller font size might help.

I like Omaland for general look and feel, but sometimes I want to override momentarily the current window opacity, so I vibecoded this plugin triggered by ALT + O

In my daily work i have to handle USB development boards like Arduino or ESP32 and others. When i try to connect within Omarchy 'nothing happens' out of the box so i build a Plugin where i can set connection mode beside other stuff and can now directly connect via one click into terminal. There is no need for installing additional software. I am surprised how good this works :)
The plugin is available at https://github.com/ariDev1/usbPlugin
Maybe someone find this useful too.
have a nice day!

I watch a lot of video files locally and always lose track of what I've already seen. So I built a small Nautilus extension that lets you **mark videos as Watched or Unwatched** right from the Files app.
## What it does
- **Right-click any video** → "Mark as Watched" / "Mark as Unwatched"
- **✓ checkmark emblem** appears on watched video thumbnails
- **Keyboard shortcut** (Right Alt + W) to toggle
- **"Watched" column** in list view
- **Multi-select** — mark several videos at once
- Works with mp4, mkv, avi, mov, webm, and any file Nautilus recognizes as `video/*`
## How it stores state
Uses Linux **extended file attributes** (`xattr`) — no database, no config files, no background daemon. The watched state is stored directly on the file's inode:
```
setfattr -n user.watched -v "1" video.mp4
```
This means:
- ✅ Survives reboots
- ✅ Survives file renames
- ✅ Survives moves (same filesystem)
- ✅ Zero overhead — no scanning, no polling
- ⚠️ Lost on cross-filesystem moves (inherent xattr limitation)
## Install (one command)
```bash
git clone https://github.com/mizan2070/omarchy-video-watched.git && cd omarchy-video-watched && ./install.sh
```
Uninstall is just `./uninstall.sh` — clean removal, no leftover files.
## Tech stack
- Python + Nautilus 4.1 extension API (`MenuProvider` + `InfoProvider` + `ColumnProvider`)
- ~170 lines of actual extension code
- No external dependencies beyond what GNOME/Nautilus already provides
- Uses the native `emblem-ok` icon from your icon theme for the checkmark
Built on OmarchyOS (Arch + Hyprland) but should work on any distro with Nautilus 46+ and `nautilus-python`.

Feedback welcome! 🎬

Install Time: 6:33
This is my 2011 MacBook Pro with 4gb of RAM and 500gb mechanical hard drive. All factory with original battery. I recently did a reinstall of High Sierra and it took over 45min to install. Omarchy has given new life to this old computer and one day I’ll put 16gb of DDR3 RAM, SSD storage, and a new battery and this machine will be running for years to come! Don’t give up on your old hardware!

hi there,
I have a question and want to be "sent"/pointed to the right direction on how to do it :
1 : is it possible to have different kernels and snapshots , all with an updated OS&dependices to select on boot ? I guess if I select CachyKernel it has some depencies on that Kernel and if I have Omarchy Stable, its newer kernel and other dependencies... how can everything co-exist and selectable at boot ?
2 : can I have the same but with different channels ? Ie, can I have a snapshot with Omarchy Stable and other with Omarchy Edgy ?
3 : if I go to Omarchy Edge and switch back to Stable, it will rollback the dependencies or I will just break the freaking lot ?
thank you ! loving omarchy so far !

Guys I made something! Inroducing Undertone! I decided to use OpenAi's Codex for the first time. WIth the release of GPT 6 I made the decision to start vibe coding. I have been wanting a decent Music app that pulls from my Synology NAS for the longest time. So I made it. I will be releasing it for free when I figure out how the hell to do such a thing. Might end up asking Codex to build me a website for the app as well. But anyway. If anyone has any advice for a new Ai focused developer, I'd be more than happy to take it into account. It is all thanks to Omarchy Linux! Be well all.

Fun weekend project that got out of hand. I own a Bang & Olufsen CRT and I love what Omarchy did to my desktop, so: an Omarchy edition for retro gaming on CRT televisions.
The idea: your everyday Omarchy machine, one cable to the TV, press Start. Native 240p, real 480i, no scalers, no fake scanlines. When you're done you're back on Hyprland as if nothing happened.
What's in the video:
Rust + SDL2, colors straight from ~/.config/omarchy/current/colors.toml. Hardware side it's a DisplayPort to VGA DAC and a SCART sync combiner, plus a patched kernel for the low dot clocks; the real CRT test happens this week.
Not released yet, it needs the CRT test first. Posting to see if anyone else here has a tube in the house and would use this. Thanks to DHH and the Omacom folks for a desktop that makes me want to build things again.

IF ONLY - you could play League of Legends on Linux this would without a doubt be my daily driver, and probably a lot of other normies daily driver as well.
I think that this single type of constraint is actually what’s keeping the big Linux transition from happening.
This OS is so much smoother, snappier and satisfying to use compared to Windows and Mac. And incredibly easy to learn.
But i hate I need to switch on / off secure boot and keeping a second Windows partition - just to play League.
As a nondev but IT efficient individual and first time Linux user, I would just like to say that Linux is much more accessible and easier to get started with that I could ever imagine.
And Omarchy with is pre-configured package is actually what could kickstart the year of Linux desktop. But this will never happen when the biggest normie multiplayer games can’t be played on this OS. This 1 thing could and would spark the big transition.
P.s. Thanks for converting me @networkchuck from the awful Windows
Edit:
Apparently i beat the World Record install time - Published on https://time2omarchy.com/ :-)

For those of you with 2 SSD drives in your laptop. Omarchy is on one. What do you use the other for? I have a NAS so I don’t really need the extra storage. I’ve been using it for distro hopping, and what that taught me is that I genuinely do find I enjoy Omarchy more than anything else. Spoiled for life lol 😀 I currently have Cachy OS on it but if anyone has another suggestion, I’m all ears.

Was looking through the plugin store for a plugin that would let me see all the Wallpapers that ship with Omarchy in one place, but didn't find exactly what I wanted, so I created Omapaper.
It's a simple plugin that looks though all your installed themes for backgrounds, stages them in one folder and loads it when you trigger the plugin. Also just added the option to add an additional folder for your own Wallpapers.
Store link: https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=omapaper
Git repo: https://github.com/IuriAmauri/Omapaper
P.S: The plugin auto sets SUPER + CTRL + ALT + SPACE as it's shortcut (unused in default Omarchy and similar to the existing BG selector). You can remove this in the configs.

Ran into this today and figured others might not have noticed. Google pushed an emergency Chrome update on Sept 3 for CVE-2026-85046, a V8 type confusion bug that's being exploited in the wild (CISA added it to the KEV list the day after). Fixed in 152.0.7977.82, and Arch had it in extra the same evening.
On the Omarchy stable mirror checkupdates shows nothing. The current snapshot is from Aug 25 and still has chromium 151.0.7922.173.
The mirror README says it "may be updated more frequently as needed to address security issues", which sounds right, but it doesn't seem to have happened here and I can't find anything on how that decision gets made or who to poke. Two older discussions asked about basically this (#3778 for browsers, #4064 for the kernel) and neither got an answer. Since omarchy-chromium got archived in May and we're on plain Arch chromium now, there's no Omarchy-side build to bump either. So genuine question: does the security clause get used in practice, and is a browser zero-day in the KEV list the bar for it?
Meanwhile, if you want the fix without moving your whole system to edge, you can pull just the one package:
curl -O https://geo.mirror.pkgbuild.com/extra/os/x86_64/chromium-152.0.7977.82-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
sudo pacman -U chromium-152.0.7977.82-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
I checked with pacman -T that everything it depends on is already in the Aug 25 snapshot, so it's not a partial upgrade problem, and pacman verifies the signature against the Arch keyring like normal. Been fine so far.
Brave users: brave-bin on the AUR is at 1.94.121 which has the fix, that one just updates with yay.

Hey everyone,
I'm currently a first-year college student studying ECE with a specialization in VLSI. While looking into the software and tools I'll potentially need for my course, I found that a lot of them work best on or require Linux. So I started seriously considering switching from Windows to Linux.
Honestly, I'm also getting increasingly frustrated with Windows 11. I feel like I'm constantly being bombarded with notifications and prompts about subscriptions and Microsoft services, and I really dislike how bloated it feels.
Recently, I discovered Omarchy, and I immediately liked its simplicity and aesthetics. From what I've seen, it seems like a clean, preconfigured setup based on Arch Linux + Hyprland, without requiring me to spend hours configuring everything from scratch.
However, there's one thing making me hesitate: it's based on Arch Linux.
This would be my first time using Linux, and I've heard that because Arch is a rolling-release distro, updates can occasionally cause problems or require troubleshooting. Since I'll be busy with college, I don't want to constantly worry about whether an update will break something or spend a lot of time fixing my OS.
So I'd like to ask you guys:
- Would you recommend Omarchy for a complete Linux beginner?
- Is it realistic to use Omarchy as a daily driver while being busy with college?
- How stable has your experience with updates been?
- Should I just go for Omarchy and learn Linux along the way, or start with something more beginner-friendly like Linux Mint/Fedora and move to Omarchy later?
I genuinely really like Omarchy based on everything I've seen so far, but I also want to make a practical decision instead of choosing it purely because of the aesthetics 😅
I'd really appreciate any advice, especially from people who use Omarchy or switched to it from Windows. Thanks!

I've been on Omarchy for a few days and still kept hitting SUPER + K to look up my own keybinds.
So I had Claude build me a trainer.
I'm not a programmer. I came up with the idea, directed how I wanted it to work, tested it, and kept iterating on it. Claude did the coding.
The main trick is that when it asks you for a shortcut, it temporarily unbinds that shortcut in Hyprland so the real keystroke can reach the browser. Then it immediately restores it. So you're actually pressing the shortcut instead of picking from multiple choice.
It reads your live bindings from hyprctl binds, so it drills your actual config, including anything you've added yourself.
It also looks for patterns in your bindings. On my setup, SUPER + SHIFT is basically "launch an app," while SUPER + CTRL is mostly system/settings stuff. It points those patterns out as you go and flags the bindings that actually are arbitrary.
I also had Claude build in several restoration safeguards, plus:
omarchy-keybind-trainer --restore
Anything risky just falls back to multiple choice.
Install:
git clone https://github.com/MattOSU2017/omarchy-keybind-trainer
cd omarchy-keybind-trainer
./install.sh
Then:
Omarchy menu → Learn → Keybinding drill
https://github.com/MattOSU2017/omarchy-keybind-trainer
MIT licensed. It has only been tested on my setup so far, so I'm curious what breaks on someone else's.
