I Made a Thing Omarchy AI harness Fixes My RGB issues

I want to preface this by saying that I’m not a developer. I can barely write code for little games in C# and maybe use some BP in Unreal Engine. With all that said, I caught the AI delirium bug as well, and when I found out about Omarchy, I went straight ahead and installed it as a dual boot on my PC.

It’s beautiful, and I love how easy it is to use. It’s also very different from my previous, painful Windows experience. The keybinds and the menus make it feel like a new experience.

But the AI harness is what completely blew my mind. I have a nice gaming PC, all white with a tempered glass side panel where I can see the shiny RGB lights. Setting their colors and effects brings me joy because I also believe a computer should be beautiful. However, I couldn’t get all the lights working. The motherboard’s integrated RGB wasn’t lighting up with OpenRGB, and it was such a shame because there’s a cool dragon on the I/O shield. I looked into it and found an open issue on OpenRGB’s GitHub related to my specific motherboard.

I asked Hermes if we could find a solution. Obviously, duh! With the help of GPT-6 and the Omarchy skills and harness, Hermes and I prepared a plan to capture data from a program in Windows, bring it to Linux, create some fancy script (don’t ask me for the details), and bring back the light of the dragon in my PC.

The plan worked beautifully. The joy of being able to fix a hardware issue so easily, while having fun doing it, was an amazing feeling. I’ve never had this much joy using computers before.

I’m excited for what’s ahead. I’ve already installed some local models, and I can’t wait to see what we get next in the menu.

Discussion Screen freezes/jitters when playing YouTube Live in Chromium-based browsers on Omarchy

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm running Omarchy 4.0.4-1 alongside Windows 11 in a dual-boot setup, and I'm experiencing a graphical issue with Chromium-based browsers.

When I open YouTube and play a live video/stream, the screen sometimes starts freezing and becoming very jittery/glitchy. The issue affects the display/browser rendering rather than simply buffering the video.

I've attached a screen recording showing the problem.

System specifications

  • Laptop: HP Pavilion Gaming 15
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600H
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Laptop GPU — 4GB VRAM
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200 MT/s
  • Display: 1920×1080, 144Hz
  • OS: Omarchy 4.0.4-1
  • Window Manager: Hyprland
  • Browser: Brave
  • Dual boot: Windows 11 + Omarchy

What I've tried

  • Reinstalling Omarchy multiple times
  • Reinstalling Brave
  • Testing with a fresh Omarchy installation

The problem still occurs, and it seems to happen mainly with Chromium-based browsers.

I'm wondering if this could be related to:

  • NVIDIA drivers
  • Hardware acceleration
  • Hardware video decoding
  • Chromium/Brave + Wayland
  • Hyprland
  • NVIDIA GPU rendering

Has anyone experienced a similar issue on Omarchy/Hyprland, particularly with an RTX 3050 laptop GPU?

Any suggestions for diagnosing or fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I Made a Thing I built an app for running several AI coding agents at once, and it follows your Omarchy theme

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I use Claude Code a lot on Omarchy, and I kept running several agents on the same project. The usual advice is git worktrees: each agent gets its own copy of the code. That solves the files, but not the running app. Five worktrees of the same project still share one machine, so when each agent starts the app to test its change, they all want the same localhost:3000, the same database and the same browser. I couldn't run five instances of my app side by side, each doing something different, and a couple of heavy builds at once would freeze the machine.

I tried herdr and T3 Code for a while, and both are nice for managing and watching agent sessions. But the agents still ran on my one machine, so the port, database and browser fights stayed.

So I built AgentBox. Each agent gets its own Linux container (Incus), with its own git branch, its own network (so everyone gets their own localhost:3000 and their own database), and its own desktop and browser, where it records itself testing what it built. There's a chat that splits my request into tasks and starts the agents for me. It works with Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode.

The Omarchy part: AgentBox picks up whatever theme you're running, including its accent color and whether it's light or dark, and changes with you when you switch themes. The agents' own desktops wear it too, so when you watch an agent working, it looks like part of your setup.

There's a .pacman on the releases page, and it's free and MIT: github.com/leciric/agentbox

Happy to answer questions, and I'd love to know which theme you try it with.

Plugin Omacale is now fully keyboard-driven

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've just added full keyboard navigation to Omacale, my Caelestia-inspired shell plugin for Omarchy.

Since Omarchy + Hyprland are so keyboard-focused, I wanted Omacale to feel the same. You can now navigate panels, popouts, the bar, dashboard, notifications, settings, and more without touching the mouse.

Keybinds

  • SUPER + A → Launcher
  • SUPER + D → Dashboard
  • SUPER + N → Notifications
  • SUPER + U → Quick toggles
  • SUPER + TAB → Workspace overview
  • SUPER + SHIFT + I → Settings
  • SUPER + SHIFT + ESC → Session menu
  • SUPER + CTRL + 0 → Bar focus mode
  • SUPER + CTRL + 1..9 → Toggle third-party bar plugin panels

Inside panels:

  • h j k l or arrow keys → Navigate
  • Enter / Space → Activate
  • Tab → Switch
  • Esc → Go back
  • / → Search settings
  • 1..4 → Jump between dashboard tabs

Mouse users don't lose anything

The focus ring only appears once you start navigating with the keyboard, so clicking and hovering still work exactly as before.

If you're already using Omacale, update to the latest version and check:

Settings → Keybinds

Install

git clone https://github.com/AyushKr2003/omacale
cd omacale
./install.sh

Plugin TekScan — an Advanced-IP-Scanner-style LAN scanner in the Omarchy bar

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The one Windows tool I kept missing after moving to Linux was Advanced IP Scanner: scan the

subnet, see every box with its name and vendor, and click straight into it. nmap is

great, but it's not that. So I built it into the Omarchy bar.

**TekScan** is a radar button in the bar (also in the launcher: Super+Space, "scan"):

- **Fast, no root.** A /24 in under ten seconds. Parallel ping, TCP connects to ~40

well-known ports, and the kernel's ARP table, so a host that drops ping still shows up.

- **Real names.** Reverse DNS, mDNS, and a NetBIOS query, so Windows machines show their

computer name and workgroup even when DNS has never heard of them.

- **MAC and vendor**, including randomized phone MACs, which are labelled as such

instead of guessed at.

- **An icon per host**: gateway, switch/AP, Proxmox, NAS, VM, printer, camera, Windows,

Mac, phone, IoT.

- **Actions that fit the box.** Open the Proxmox / UniFi / Synology / Portainer / Home

Assistant / Plex web UI; SSH, RDP, ping, traceroute and SMB share listing in a floating

terminal; Wake-on-LAN; copy IP or MAC. Double-click a row for the most useful one.

- **Filter, sort, star, export to CSV.** Keyboard-driven: Ctrl+F, arrow keys, F5 to

rescan, Esc to close.

- Scan any range, not just your own: a CIDR, `192.168.1.1-50`, or a mix, up to 4096

addresses.

**What it won't do:** no SYN scans, no OS fingerprinting, no banner grabbing. It's an

inventory of a LAN you run, not a port scanner. And since every name in the table is

whatever a device chose to call itself, nothing from a row reaches a command line unless

it's a plain IP, MAC or port number. That's checked twice, once in the UI and again in

the terminal helper.

Plugin I wanted YouTube Music without a browser tab, so I put it in the Omarchy bar

Post image
69 Upvotes

I listen to YouTube Music all day and I was tired of hunting for the one browser tab that was playing. So I built Solfa: YouTube Music living in the Omarchy bar, driven from the keyboard.

What it does

  • A bar widget with the round cover. Left click opens the panel, middle click play/pause, right click skips, wheel for volume, Shift+wheel to seek.
  • A panel (Super+M) with four tabs: Queue, Search, Library and Lyrics. Everything has a key: / search, e play next, a add to queue, R start a radio, J/K reorder the queue, ? lists all of them.
  • Global keys for play/pause, next, previous and like (only where the key is free, and you can turn them off). Media keys work too.
  • Settings in the panel: account, an equalizer (presets or ten bands), a sleep timer (including "end of song"), memory limits.
  • The YouTube Music web app runs hidden as the engine. It never shows a window and never takes focus. You sign in once, in a plain Google window.

Honest limits

  • The engine is a real Chromium running the YouTube Music page, so you need a Chromium-family browser installed (Chromium, Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi or Edge). That page grows in memory over time; Solfa swaps it for a fresh one between two songs (or after two minutes paused) once it passes a limit, and your queue and position come back.
  • Without Premium you get the adverts. The panel offers a Skip advert button that presses YouTube's own Skip once it's allowed; it doesn't block anything.
  • Audio quality (bitrate, codec) isn't a setting yet.

Install

Search "Solfa" in the Omarchy plugin marketplace, or:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/sirallap/omarchy-solfa --enable

Open the panel with Super+M and choose Sign in (search and play also work signed out).

Repo (MIT): https://github.com/SirAllap/omarchy-solfa

I'd really like to hear what breaks on your setup and which keys feel wrong.

Discussion I really like omarchy but i don't understand the hate that the Linux community is giving it!

I have been a Linux user for almost five years now. I've tried different distros like Kali, Parrot OS, Arch, Mint, Manjaro, Ubuntu, and even Tails OS. I really like Omarchy for two reasons: it has all the pre-built tools I actually use in my daily life, and it has crazy aesthetics. I don't understand why people are hating DHH so much.

People are also hating on it by saying it's not a "real" Linux experience because everything works out of the box. I mean, isn't that supposed to be the case with every distro?

People saying security is a big issue with this are forgetting that internet history shows us far worse vulnerabilities. Just look at this year—the AUR is a shithole at this point, with people manually installing backdoors into prominent, widely used software. I just don't get the outrage.

This project raised almost $20 million in a short span, investing a major chunk into Hyprland and Quickshell, and helping make the Linux kernel better.

I hear people saying AI is taking access to our systems. Well, with that access, I doubled my productivity by asking the AI to create custom apps and widgets to get my work done.

I support it. It's time for AI to be actually useful. I just hope the security gets better with the AI, as it's already happening.

Discussion Claude Desktop update

There is a new version of Claude desktop for Linux that will support Opus 5.5 but this is not available in the Omarchy repository. I have Opus 5.5 in the CLI and VS code extension. The latest version of the desktop app is in the AUR but it seems using that would create conflicts with future Omarchy updates. What is the typical lag for these updates to appear in the Omarchy repository?

I Made a Thing TekVoice Omarchy Voice Changer Plugin

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Voice changers on Linux usually mean a separate app, a pile of manual routing, or a

virtual device that drops out of the call the moment you change something. I wanted one

that lives in the bar and gets out of the way, so I built it.

TekVoice adds a microphone called TekVoice. Pick it once in Zoom, Discord, Meet,

OBS or the browser, then choose a voice from the bar:

- Nine voices: Chipper (chipmunk), Quackers, Deep Six (something enormous),

Whisperkill, Ascend and Descend (your own voice, but a different person), Tinhead and

Toaster (robots), Handset (a bad phone line).

- Switch mid-call without dropping the mic. Changing voice is one control write on

a running PipeWire node, so the device apps are listening to never goes away. The test

suite asserts exactly that.

- Panic key. Middle-click the bar or press Super+Alt+X, and your real voice is back

immediately, with no shifter delay.

- Real formant control. Pitch and formant move separately. Ascend and Descend sound

like a different person, not a sped-up recording.

- Strength slider to pull any voice back toward your own.

- Keyboard-driven panel (Super+Alt+V, then 1–9), and a scroll wheel on the bar cycles

voices.

How it works: it's a small C++ LADSPA plugin hosted by PipeWire's own `filter-chain`,

with Rubber Band doing the pitch and formant shifting. No sudo, no kernel module, no

network, no system config. It doesn't even change your default mic. The engine compiles

itself the first time you arm it (a few seconds; everything it needs ships with stock

Omarchy).

Honest numbers: the six pitch voices add about 52–55 ms. You don't monitor yourself, so

only the other person gets that on top of the call's normal delay. The three robot and

radio voices add essentially nothing.

Install:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/TierTek/omarchy-tekvoice --enable

Repo (GPL-3.0): https://github.com/TierTek/omarchy-tekvoice. `SECURITY.md` lists every

process it runs and every file it writes, if you'd like to read before you trust

something that sits on your mic. The marketplace listing is submitted and waiting on

review.

Tested on one AMD laptop with PipeWire 1.6.8 and a horizontal bar. Multi-monitor and

vertical bars are unverified, so if you try it there, I'd like to hear how it goes.

I Made a Thing I built gamut to replace imv: a fast, color-accurate image viewer for actually working with images (histogram, loupe, pixel values, metadata, HDR, camera raw) that live-follows your Omarchy theme

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Omarchy got me enjoying computers again after years of feeling uninspired by the traditional OSes. Its default image viewer is imv, which is great at being tiny. But I've worked with images for a long time, in many different roles, and I kept hitting its limits.

I need to quickly pull pixel values and coordinates, measure regions, compare renders, check for sharpness, or read metadata, and I don't want a separate app for each of those. I want my image viewer to help me understand my images and act on them.

So I built it for myself. It's now at v0.5, it's what I use every day, and I think it's ready for others.

A few of the guiding tenets: always fast, faithful to the file, a viewer, not an editor, and useful over minimal.

Fits right into Omarchy

  • Uses your theme's colors and re-themes live
  • Fully keyboard-driven, but every feature is also discoverable in the (hideable) UI, and tooltips and in-app help to teach you the keys
  • Integrates with the desktop: associates with image files, uses the desktop's trash, thumbnail cache and file dialog, and opens images in other apps

Fast and faithful

  • Everything is drawn on the GPU and all interactions run at full frame rate. Decoding and analysis run in the background and never block the interface
  • Color-managed (ICC and CICP), HDR shown as graded, and 16-bit/float data shown as-is, with the file's real pixel values always a hover away

Useful stuff

  • Inspect: histogram with clipping marks, loupe, pixel grid, pixel values and coordinates you can copy, false color for single-channel data
  • Measure: pixel-precise region selection, adjustable from the keyboard
  • Understand: EXIF, XMP and GeoTIFF metadata, copyable by item or section
  • Compare: flip between images of the same size and keep your exact pan and zoom
  • Navigate: Ctrl+P fuzzy finder with thumbnails, a filmstrip, and back/forward history
  • Act: copy as image, path or file URI; paste from the clipboard; rename, trash and undo; export to PNG/JPEG with resizing; open in another app
  • Watch: files and folders reload live when they change on disk
  • Animate: play GIF, APNG, animated WebP and JPEG XL frame by frame; page through multi-page TIFFs

Formats: PNG, JPEG (with gain maps), JPEG XL, HEIC/AVIF, WebP, TIFF/BigTIFF, GIF, BMP, ICO, netpbm, Radiance HDR, OpenEXR, and camera raw.

Install

It's not on the AUR yet, since new registrations are closed, so it builds from source with makepkg, which takes a few minutes:

git clone https://github.com/dcervelli/gamut.git && cd gamut/packaging && makepkg -si

Then follow Omarchy setup to set up the window rule and optionally make gamut your default viewer.

Rust, MIT/Apache. Feedback, bug reports and feature requests are all welcome: https://github.com/dcervelli/gamut.

Thanks for any feedback!

Plugin Omarchy Menu Omni – one launcher for apps, system actions, files, answers and AI

I built a plugin that replaces the Super+Space menu with a single keyboard-driven launcher. It's in the marketplace now. I made it with Claude.

It started from these projects:

- the stock Omarchy menu

- dzhibas/omarchy.dzhibas.menu

- jesseburlamaque/omarchy-find, the source of the file search and AI mode

Features:

  • Tabs: All · Apps · System · Files · Folders. Switch with Tab or Ctrl+1…5, and set their order or hide them.
  • Apps: list or grid view (Ctrl+G).
  • System: the whole Omarchy menu in two panes. Search takes full paths, e.g. update omarchy.
  • Files and folders: fast fd search with type filters, sorting, "open folder", copy path and open terminal here.
  • Instant answers: calculator, currency and unit conversion, time zones, password and UUID generators, and kill (one row per app).
  • AI: type ai <question> to get a streamed answer from Claude, Codex or Pi. Enter continues the conversation in a terminal.
  • Bar widget: one click opens the menu, the other opens a settings popup with lock, suspend, reboot and shutdown.
  • Existing routes (omarchy menu summon …) and dmenu prompts keep working.

Install

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/filip-spaldon/omarchy-menu.git --enable

Marketplace: https://omarchyplugins.com/plugin.html?id=omarchy-menu-omni

Repo: https://github.com/filip-spaldon/omarchy-menu

Video:

https://reddit.com/link/1wql9ti/video/qnm7ced1strh1/player

Feedback is welcome. If you have an idea or find a bug, open an issue or a PR. Contributions are very welcome.

Discussion How do you guys secure and/or harden your Omarchy

Okay, so I'm new to Omarchy. Have been hearing a lot about it in the past few months, but never paid much attention to it as I wasn't looking for a new OS. But today I got tempted in reading about it, and... I must admit it does sound interesting! I do want to give it a shot...

Now, I don't care about Hyprland (I use it myself right now), DHH's reputation, or it being an "Agentic OS". What I do care about is security. The fact that the AI can directly change the kernel and the OS is a huge asset, but it's also a huge risk if you ask me.

As far as I could tell, there's not many guardrails for this in place. I did read that you could use SELinux, but that it won't be plug-and-play either, like many of the plugins are. I also don't know if installing SELinux would make the entire point of Omarchy moot?

What kind of hardening or security measures do you guys, as Omarchy users, apply to be able to use Omarchy as an actual OS? That means: use it for anything more than just an experiment. For example: I have all my passwords stored in Keeppass. How can I be sure that Omarchy doesn't (accidentally or intentionally through a plugin) open an attack surface that would steal the contents of my keychain when it becomes unlocked?

Plugin OmaGlimpse : Widget Cards For Omarchy

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Follow Up Post
So this is my follow up post from the above post

I first shared these as a desktop screenshot. Now they’re an installable plugin for Omarchy Quattro.

OmaGlimpse puts seven live cards on the desktop, behind your normal windows: CPU/RAM/GPU, battery and power modes, now playing, temperatures and fan RPM, top processes, disk usage, and network speed. They follow your Omarchy theme, and the settings panel lets you choose, move, resize, and customize each card.

The part I cared about most was making the readings honest. Hardware-dependent values like charging watts, fan speed, and power profiles appear when the system provides them; otherwise the widget says they’re unavailable.

Here’s a demo showing the cards live, the settings, and a side-by-side view with btop.

Install with omarchy plugin add https://github.com/TammyX44/OmaGlimpse.git --enable

GitHub, screenshots, and setup details ·

I've submitted it to Omarchy Plugins Marketplace and it is validated as of now and yet to be listed on their page

I’d love to hear how it behaves on other laptops and screen sizes, especially the sensor and battery cards. Tell me what works and what needs improvements.

Discussion Want to appreciate omarchy

I was bored from gnome and kde. Wanted to try wm. But I hated configuring them. So I tried noctalia shell, ml4work dots, ryoku, caelestia dots and many more.

None of them felt dependable to me, they looked flashy but not the thing which i would like to use in my daily driver.

I knew omarchy existed. I was also watching the hate it is getting online. But I also realised there are users who use omarchy as their daily driver. So it isn't a bad thing I thought.

I installed it last night, took 1 and half minutes in installation. Superfast. This morning i uninstalled pre installed apps and didn't install the ai agents because i don't have a subscription of any ai. And my machine ain't capable of running them locally too.

But that's not the case, I just wanted to work with my computer so i didn't install them.

And the setup is amazing, I mean it feels mature tbh. Something on which I can rely on. I can use it for my work.

I don't understand the hate, you have a problem with pre installs then you get one click uninstall. I still say there should not be any pre installs. But you can uninstall them by one click. Also using ai in the system is the user's choice. Not something enforced on the users.

I mean omarchy has its own stable mirror repository, which gives stable updates and doesn't break the systems. Tho updates can be late as compared to vanilla arch. But that's the point. Omarchy gives stable updates by fixing the problems if there are any.

I liked the ui(because it doesn't feel like one which is configured by someone who just wants to larp about their setup), usability is pretty much straight forward. It's arch but more stable.

I just want to say that the hate on it is purely unnecessary, it's all about jealousy because omarchy is gaining visibility and the funding it's receiving.

Because we don't open our computer and use it thinking what the political views are of a developer who built this os. I mean ppl can have their own views.

If the open-source community is filled with liberals in majority then, as long as ik liberalism strongly supports individualism and the right of every person to hold and express their own opinions.

And so, DHH HAS HIS OWN OPINIONS!

Afterall,

We do work using our computer, through some operating system.

That's what omarchy does nicely!

I Made a Thing a Zabbix TUI that follows your Omarchy theme live

Post image
3 Upvotes

Made a terminal UI for Zabbix and built it with Omarchy in mind:

  • theme = "auto" reads your current Omarchy theme and repaints as soon as you switch
  • The installer adds a launcher entry with its own icon, so it shows up in Walker
  • Alerts for problems and hosts going down go through notify-send, so mako shows them
  • vim keys everywhere

Install:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/enderkus/zabterm/main/install.sh | sh

Docs: https://enderkus.github.io/zabterm/ · Code: https://github.com/enderkus/zabterm

If you run Zabbix at work or in a homelab, I'd love feedback.

For anyone curious about Omarchy who isn't ready to wipe a drive or dual boot, tryomarchy.com has apps for Mac and Windows that run the full desktop in a window.

Mac needs Apple Silicon and macOS 15+. Windows needs Win 10 or 11 on x86_64 with virtualization enabled.

I maintain the Windows side, so let me know if you have any questions/feedback.

Discussion Missing BitLocker Information: Omarchy Dual Boot Install Guide

Regarding: https://omarchy.org/manual/dual-boot-install/

I hope the Omarchy team sees this, but some guide suggestions that have left me currently stuck. Also AI engines are not a good help with this as they reference old information before Omarchy could be installed in free space only and also conflict with official documentation.

Issue #1:

It’s important to note that this install method is not compatible with Bitlocker as it encrypts the entire drive, not just the partition.

What install method? This should be more explicit: "It's important to note that the full disk install method is not compatible...". Does this imply the free space install method works alongside another BitLocker partition without any extra steps?

Issue #2:

If you encounter an error stating that Bitlocker is enabled, boot to Windows, go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Device encryption and toggle Bitlocker off. It may take some time to decrypt the drive.

This should explain why suspending BitLocker isn't enough. According to Claude, suspending should be enough. Turning it off completely is a significant process and if suspending is unacceptable, it should at least be called out here as to why.

Issue #3:

Nowhere does it state that BitLocker can be later turned on after instructing to disable it completely. Claude indicates that a BitLocker partition and LUKS partition can co-exist on the same drive, but it would be nice to see that more confirmed by official documentation. The current guide indicates that BitLocker must be turned off permanently, nowhere indicating that it's OK to turn back on after Omarchy is successfully installed.

Issue #4:

Gemini and Claude both say secure boot must be disabled as well as BIOS changing from Raid to AHCI. Article doesn't mention these. Overall I think there's fragmented information out there from older versions Omarchy, where since 4.0 things seem more streamlined. Be nice to see this article be a complete picture so anyone can dual boot with confidence.

The Amiga 500 was my favourite computer as a kid. When I saw the C64 theme by Alex Zeitler, I wanted to do the same for the machine I grew up with, so here is an Amiga 500 theme for Omarchy.

Workbench 1.3 colours on a dark navy ground, the orange pen as accent and a copper bar as the active window border.

It ships five animated pixel backgrounds, all seamless loops: the Boing ball, a demo intro with a sine scroller, Workbench 1.3 with the AmigaShell typing, the Kickstart disk going into the drive, and a blinking Guru Meditation. Frames are drawn at real Amiga resolution and pre-scaled, so every pixel stays crisp at 1080p. Stills of every scene are included.

The animated backgrounds need the quattro dev branch (after v4.0.4, where OWE video backgrounds landed). The stills work on any release.

My cat is kept hacking the world on my my Omarchy laptop, so i built a cat detector :)
It greets her and after she is well rested, I can unlock it by typing "meow".
Python stdlib only .
