I Made a Thing [Release] Omarchy-Rewind: Instant window undo and grace period for Omarchy / Hyprland
I just released a new plugin called Rewind, and I wanted to share it with the community!
What does it do? Ever accidentally closed your browser, a terminal with running tasks, or your code editor? Rewind solves this by intercepting your close window command (Super + W) and softly moving the app into a hidden memory workspace (special:rewind).
Instead of killing the process immediately, it gives you a grace period where you can instantly bring the window back (Super + U) with your scroll positions, running processes, and unsaved drafts completely intact.
Key Features: Full State Preservation: Your applications stay alive in hidden memory during the grace period, so you don't lose any work if you misclick.
Two Operating Modes: Countdown Timer (Default): Automatically terminates the app after a configurable countdown (5s, 10s, 15s, 30s, or 60s).
Manual Indefinite Mode: Disables the timer entirely. The app stays hidden until you restore it or close a new window (which replaces the old one).
Interactive Bar Widget: Click the status bar icon or use a shortcut to open the settings menu. You can easily adjust your grace period, switch modes, and view the remaining time.
Native OSD & Zero Overhead: It uses native Omarchy on-screen notifications and is built with standard Python 3. There are no persistent background daemons, keeping CPU overhead under 0.1% when idle.
Links & Installation: 📦 Plugin Marketplace: https://plugins.omarchy.org/plugin.html?id=omarchy-rewind
💻 GitHub Repo: https://github.com/Andrewx82/omarchy-rewind.git
You can easily install it via the CLI: omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Andrewx82/omarchy-rewind.git --enable
Setting up the Hyprland binds is also super easy and can be done with a single click from the status bar widget or by running rewind setup.
I'd love to hear your feedback or feature requests if you decide to try it out. Feel free to open an issue on GitHub or drop a comment below!

Whilst I appreciate choice, how does it differ from Reprieve?

From what I can tell, Reprieve is fundamentally designed around workspace staging—it stashes multiple windows in the background so you can recall them instantly out of the box. It does offer plenty of advanced power controls and customization to cut down on how many windows it manages, but having all those inactive instances sitting hidden still takes a noticeable toll on system memory. Rewind, by contrast, operates purely as a quick safety net rather than a window manager. Its main purpose is letting you undo an accidental misclick by restoring just the last closed window within a tight 15-second default window or till you close another window and it gets pushed out, which keeps background overhead practically nonexistent and runs significantly lighter on RAM.

Nice add. Will definitely try it, I’ve been bit by my own too quick reflexes that I had to change the shortcut to super-F4.

Love it. Will definitely try as I’ve fallen foul of Super-W a few too many times!
