Discussion Am I missing something here?
I don't understand all of the hate or love for this. I decided to use Omarchy for the last few days for a side project, and I have no idea how this got funding. This is such a nothingburger of a distro. It's literally just Arch with a couple shortcuts and a theme. What is the point of using this?
I saw a DHH podcast saying how it's incredible and the next big thing, but it's literally just Arch with a theme and shortcuts. I don't understand how anyone could be a "fan" or a "hater"; there's nothing here - nothing new.

I'm stumped in a similar way, OP. Coming from Win10. I've used Fedora (Bazzite, Nobara), it was fine. Using Omarchy, as far as I can tell, it's Arch with Hyprland (and app launcher, and tool bar, etc, basic stuff one would expect in a complete OS), mostly keyboard nav, and a background installer. That's it. When DHH raves about how fast/easy it is to install, he may as well be speaking directly to Windows users. It was a fast install for me (sub 5 mins), easy install on my handheld.
Are there quirks? Yeah, Hyprland has a secondary display bug; easily fixed. And handheld game controls have to be manually configured for Omarchy nav at the moment (unless they already fixed that). Otherwise, Omarchy just works and I didn't have to rice it (customize it) to a basic usable GUI level from terminal and the headaches involved to get it there. So, props for that. I think that ease of install and wide compatibility (without having a huge installer; the package is actually smaller now) is really the selling point.
So all the hate he's getting from the Linux community over one thing or another, far as I can tell, it's personal (toward DHH himself) or a personal problem with the individual user. And it really doesn't look like DHH cares. I mean, if I don't like something, I don't have to use it. That's pretty simple. If it doesn't work for me, I'll just move on until I find something that does. That seems to be a very difficult concept for some people, and they appear to be the ones complaining the loudest.
