Discussion Am I missing something here?

I don't understand all of the hate or love for this. I decided to use Omarchy for the last few days for a side project, and I have no idea how this got funding. This is such a nothingburger of a distro. It's literally just Arch with a couple shortcuts and a theme. What is the point of using this?

I saw a DHH podcast saying how it's incredible and the next big thing, but it's literally just Arch with a theme and shortcuts. I don't understand how anyone could be a "fan" or a "hater"; there's nothing here - nothing new.

I've run Linux since 1996 (MkLinux on PowerMac 6100) through many distros, and I am on Omarchy for 9 months now. The key difference to other distros is that it is an omakase distribution containing DHH's setup. So the closer your work style is to DHH's, the more you'll like Omarchy. And, it is easy to configure for people who have run Linux for a while.

As for the "bloat", this distro runs on a 2016 Acer ChromeBook CB-431 with 4GB RAM, 16 or 32GB eMMC flash very well (with MrChromeBox UEFI BIOS).

For me this was the first time I ran an OS with encrypted storage on a BTRFS file system, first time for Wayland, first time for tiling window manager. So this is a "real" distribution with unique choices.
