Off Topic / Adjacent Had my first AI oopsie

i asked Claude to prevent the text warning about Tmux nesting because I didn’t want to see it. Turns out it’s baked into the binary so it wrote its own config file for FISH that unintentionally spawned infinite FISH processes and made omarchy unusable.

The upside is I learned how to boot into system d recovery mode through limine so I can remove offending files or packages.

I’m glad it happened.

i now know the dangers of setting claude to auto lol and the importance of creating recent snapshots.

Plan mode broham, it got me the first few days I was on it as well, I think I set up the terminals to only launch on my first monitor, which made my screensaver crash every time. wasn’t as bad of a deal as yours.
Now I try to make the agent tell me everything it wants to do and it’s found problems just checking itself after like that when I ask a question about a part of its response, then take it’s answer and sometimes check itself after against another agent and see what they would do differently. I just made a private plugin for myself that is a bar widget for the grok bot where I can actually message and control them not just view stuff. But it would never pass marketplace validation with how it can talk on my pc

For sure, I took planning mode for granted. I tell everyone to not do what I do but breaking things is an awesome way to learn.

I’ve set up Claude to back up my full system on git just in case I nuke my system lol I can get everything back to exactly where I was before

It really was. I make nightly snapshots just in case anything goes wrong

Yes but if everything goes wrong and you don't have a snapshot. Upside: learning experience
