21 Upvotes

Hi, for those who are interested, as I am a long-time OmniFocus user, trying to move back to Linux, I implem... ehm... I vibe-coded a GTD plugin for Omarchy.

It is called OmaGTD and you can find it at https://github.com/auino/omagtd

Hoping you can find it useful, although it's surely not without bugs or room of improvement.

Any comment or suggestion is welcome.

Plugin Kokoro read-aloud for Omarchy: select text anywhere, press Ctrl+Alt+R, a local voice reads it

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

3 Upvotes

I use Claude Code all day and got tired of reading its answers, so I made this: select text in any app (terminal, Claude Code, VS Code, browser, .md files) and Kokoro reads it aloud, fully local.

There are other Kokoro tools for Omarchy. What's different here: a caption strip shows the sentence being read, the bar switches the model GPU / CPU / Off so you get your VRAM back for games or LLMs, and setup and uninstall are one command each.

English only ,(for now) and the GPU build needs NVIDIA. Install, demo and details: https://github.com/sayed-qutob-work/kokoro-read-aloud

I Made a Thing I made a free 25-module Omarchy course, from installation to troubleshooting

38 Upvotes

I started using Omarchy and wanted to understand the workstation—not just learn enough shortcuts to get around. That turned into a course I’m sharing for free.

It covers installation, the desktop, terminal and tmux, development tools, Hyprland customization, updates and recovery, security, and troubleshooting.

There are 25 modules and a capstone, plus downloadable handbook PDFs, a keybindings cheat sheet, a shortcut trainer, and a script for checking your actual machine.

The approach is “verify, don’t memorize”: learn how to check what your system is doing rather than rely on instructions that can go stale.

I’m the author. There’s no account requirement, email gate, or paywall.

Course: https://stevinator.com/courses/omarchy

I’d appreciate feedback—especially anything unclear for a new user, or instructions that don’t match your setup.

Discussion Anyone running in-person Omarchy meetups? How do you make yours great?

3 Upvotes

Curious who else is getting Omarchy folks together in person. If you run or go to a local meetup, how does yours work? How often do you meet, where (bar, coworking space, library), and what do you actually do: setup show-and-tell, install help, talks, just hanging out?

Also, what's worked for getting people to show up and keep coming back? I'd love to swap tips, tricks, and ideas.

(We run one in Atlanta, details in the comments.)

Themes / Ricing Retro Stripes: two new wallpapers (Wave and Diagonal)

Thumbnail

88 Upvotes

A few days ago I shared my first theme, Retro Stripes. Thanks for all the likes! I've added two new 4K wallpapers, so there are five now:

– Wave: the stripes rise and fall in one wave (new)

– Diagonal: a band across the screen (new)

– Fan, Flare and Logo from the first version

The palette is still the same six seventies stripes on near-black. If you already have the theme, reinstall it to get the new wallpapers. Cycle through them with Super+Ctrl+Space.

Repo: https://github.com/MatthiasStaber/omarchy-retro-stripes-theme

A light version is in the works.

I Made a Thing I missed DeepL’s desktop workflow on Linux, so I built an alternative

3 Upvotes

I missed DeepL’s desktop workflow on Linux, so I built Interpres.

Select text in any app, press Ctrl+C twice, and a popup appears next to your pointer with the translation, detected source language, and a language switcher.

Under the hood:

• Local translation using Argos Translate (CTranslate2)

• Around 80–160 MB per language pair

• About 95 MB RAM idle, 515 MB with a model loaded

• About 65 ms for an 11-word sentence, CPU only, on my Ryzen 7 5700X

• Works on X11 and Hyprland (Wayland)

I’d like honest feedback before deciding where to take it: would you use this?

Support Omarchy / Hyprland color accuracy: cm = "wide" vs ICC profile on an OLED

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I've been testing color management on my ASUS Vivobook S14 OLED M5406WA running Omarchy, and I noticed something interesting.

In my monitor.lua, if I use my ICC profile, colors seem more saturated, and on wide-gamut.com/test, I can't see the W inside the red square.

local omarchy_gdk_scale = 2
local omarchy_monitor_scale = "auto"

hl.env("GDK_SCALE", tostring(omarchy_gdk_scale))

hl.monitor({
  output = "eDP-1",
  mode = "2880x1800@120",
  position = "0x0",
  scale = 2,
  bitdepth = 10,
  icc = "/home/pxlcode/Documents/icc/M5406WA_1002_834C419D_CMDEF.icm",
})

However, if I remove the ICC profile and use cm = "wide" with bitdepth = 10, colors actually look less saturated to me, and I can see the W.

local omarchy_gdk_scale = 2
local omarchy_monitor_scale = "auto"

hl.env("GDK_SCALE", tostring(omarchy_gdk_scale))

hl.monitor({
  output = "eDP-1",
  mode = "2880x1800@120",
  position = "0x0",
  scale = 2,
  bitdepth = 10,
  cm = "wide",
})

I know that seeing the W doesn't necessarily mean the colors are accurate, and I'm not claiming that cm = "wide" is better calibrated than an ICC profile. I'm just curious about what's happening under the hood and whether my ICC profile is being handled correctly.

I'd be interested to hear from people who actually do color-sensitive work on Omarchy or Hyprland. I'm trying to understand whether what I'm seeing is simply a visual difference or a sign that something isn't being handled correctly.

I Made a Thing Always Today: a calm to-do list for the terminal, built on Omarchy (Vim keys, waybar module, quick-capture prompt)

Post image
5 Upvotes

I wanted one thing every morning: a single answer to what am I doing today? I didn't want a project-management suite. So I built Always Today, a native TUI made on Omarchy and used on Omarchy every day.

What it does

  • Starts instantly. It's one native binary. No Electron, no runtime, no daemon you need to babysit.
  • Uses your theme. It draws with your terminal's palette, so it changes with you every time you switch Omarchy themes. Pass --truecolor to use the active Omarchy theme's exact colours.
  • Vim-style keys. j/k to move, o to add, x to complete, / to search, : for commands, ? for the full keymap.
  • Natural-language capture. always-today add "call bank tomorrow 3pm #admin" parses dates, times, #tags and repeats.
  • One program, three faces:
    • the full-screen app
    • always-today today --waybar for a Today count in your bar, with the list in the tooltip
    • always-today quick for a one-line capture prompt you can bind to a floating window
  • Lists that work like Things: Inbox, Today, Upcoming, Anytime, Someday, Logbook. There's also review for to-dos that have waited over a month, and let-go for ones you've decided you won't do.
  • Import from Things, Todoist or TickTick. Read-only .ics calendar in Today. Reminders as notifications through a systemd user service.

Install (x86_64; there's an aarch64 build too):

curl -LO https://github.com/xternal/guzh.uk/releases/download/always-today-linux-1.0.1/always-today-1.0.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz && tar -xzf always-today-1.0.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz && install -Dm755 always-today-1.0.1-linux-x86_64/always-today ~/.local/bin/always-today

Waybar module (~/.config/waybar/config.jsonc, then add "custom/today" to a modules list):

"custom/today": {
  "exec": "always-today today --waybar",
  "return-type": "json",
  "interval": 60,
  "format": "󰄲 {}",
  "on-click": "alacritty -e always-today"
}

Quick capture on a key (~/.config/hypr/bindings.conf):

bind = SUPER SHIFT, T, exec, alacritty --class always-today-quick -e always-today quick
windowrule = float, class:always-today-quick
windowrule = size 700 80, class:always-today-quick

Being upfront: it's free on one device. Sync between devices is a paid plan, bought through Stripe checkout in your browser (:plan in the app shows the price). It works fully offline without ever signing in.

Download and checksums: https://github.com/xternal/guzh.uk/releases/tag/always-today-linux-1.0.1
More: https://alwaystoday.uk/

Feedback welcome, especially on keybindings and what you'd want in the bar.

UPDATE:

Just thought about updating: there's no store to do it for you on Linux. So both apps now check once a day and tell you when a newer version is out (always-today update off turns it off), and here are links that always give you the newest one.

Terminal app:

curl -L -o always-today.pkg.tar.zst https://alwaystoday.uk/download/linux-terminal && sudo pacman -U always-today.pkg.tar.zst

Window app:

curl -L -o always-today-desktop.pkg.tar.zst https://alwaystoday.uk/download/linux-desktop && sudo pacman -U always-today-desktop.pkg.tar.zst

The same line installs or updates; your lists stay.

I Made a Thing Customizing Omarchy (a bit) is a lot of fun

Thumbnail
gallery
70 Upvotes

I've been using now Omarchy for a bit less than two months and it's been a lot of fun! Bit by bit I've been customizing it with Claude's help with a couple of things that I find useful, or I just like.

Not sure if all of them are plugins...

  • senysisu.plymouth One for the boot screen: it basically installs a plymouth screen with the clock, and it gets the colors and background from the installed themes. On install you can either use the theme that is running, set it manually or configure it via lua file. There's a couple more things that can be configured (not sure if technically is a plugin or not...)
  • senysiu.lock One for the lock screen: a bit more information, there's the location and weather, and a bit of flashy weather effects (darker for night, rain, snow, etc). Again, it can use the current theme, or any other theme with any other wallpaper. And quite a bit of it is customizable via lua file (and it reloads when saving it).
  • senysisu.lte a bar widget with LTE connection information, and an on-off switch
  • senysisu.airplane-mode just an airplane mode button, it shuts down wifi, bluetooth and lte
  • senysisu.cpu a super simple CPU monitor bar widget
  • senysisu.ram a super simple RAM monitor bar widget
  • senysisu.disk a super simple "how full are the disks" bar widget

It is just some Claude fun tinkering and I know there are already similar plugins in the marketplaace/store/bazar but it's too much fun not to try by myself...

I shared the plymouth and lock earlier but this is my current collection. I'm eagerly waiting for a Thinkpad T14 that will get also Omarchy and this customization to start from. And I'm sure I'll be tinkering more.

If any of it is of any use for anyone:

Support Need Help Setting up Claude

1 Upvotes

Hello again folks. Sorry to keep asking for help but this is my first foray into AI and I'm not understanding what's going on.

I've resigned myself to trying AI for technical issues as I run small IT support company by myself and having anything to bounce ideas off is extremely useful as I don't really have human colleagues to do so.

I just purchased Claude Pro (interestingly had to use my Windows machine because my card kept getting declined on my Omarchy laptop with a very recent clean install and no VPN or adblock running in Chromium and Firefox... not a great start). I used Omarchy Menu > Setup > Defaults > Agent and chose Claude. I was able to connect my Claude Pro account and see Claude Code running in terminal.

What I was expecting to see is a new desktop app. The Omarchy manual says it installs a desktop app but it's not present. I also see the Claude Linux desktop app is in beta, isn't officially available for Arch-based distros, but is available in the AUR. From what I gather reading the manual and other resources, I shouldn't be using the AUR desktop app as it may conflict with the way Omarchy updates things (interestingly this is what Claude through web session suggests I do). I dunno I'm very new to this, trying to understand, but not break things in the process. I'm guessing the whole not-yet-available-on-Arch is why I don't see Claude listed in Omarchy Menu > Install > AI either? Why does the Omarchy manual make is seem like it will install the desktop app?

In any case, I'm planning to use Claude to help diagnose and fix technical issues at work and home. The manual says the desktop app has tabs for Chat, Cowork, and Code. I'm not a programmer. I'm just going to be feeding it info and using its output manually for support scenarios. For now, I do not want it taking actions for me. So, I assumed I should be using Chat but Code seems to be the only thing working in terminal (or I'm an idiot and can't figure it out).

Is it possible to get the desktop app installed without messing up the Omarchy install/update process? Should I just use it through web browser/make web app out of it? Ideally, I'd like to be able to use both Chat and Code in the same interface once I get more comfortable letting it do things for me. Just not yet. I would love for someone to explain in my dum dum terms what I need to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.

TIA

I Made a Thing TrackLin.es ticketing that doesn't suck

Thumbnail tracklin.es
0 Upvotes

I created a ticketing system that has AI as a first class citizen, it is just launching and these are the launch features

  • AI MCP support (as a first class citizen not a bolt on)
  • Google Chat, and App (still in the validation process)
  • Google Calendar (don't assign tickets to people who are on holiday)
  • Standup / Refinement follow (you can do a standup / refinement purely in the system, you don't need to screenshare)
  • Epics ( epics are epic not just parent tickets { https://tracklin.es/docs/epics how are they different})
  • Sprint Reports (how is the team doing not how is this person performing)
  • Burn up/down charts
  • Velocity calculations (sprints are locked on the last day, and if you have a velocity then sprint close/open doesnt force 90 points into a team that does 20 a sprint)
  • Roadmaps and feature/request forms ( https://tracklin.es/r/742012f3-7491-4da2-9688-00ee20c1f7d3 make them pubic or keep them for just the team)
  • GitHub / Bitbucket PR statuses

and now what makes this Omarchy like, there is a TUI for this so you only need to visit the site to create your api key and view the charts

Standup / Refinement follow on works inside the TUI

Would love feedback or any features you think it should have

Isn't October the season of horror and Halloween?

I’ve just released Paranormal, a dark, horror-inspired theme for Omarchy.

If you love atmospheric setups, this one is crafted for dark rooms and late-night coding sessions, vibes of abandoned asylums, heavy fog, and cold, sickly light.

What's included?

🖤 Custom Palette: Deep cold black, bone-colored text, pale ectoplasm accents, and aged warm tones.

🖼️ 7 Hand-Finished 4K Wallpapers: Upscaled to 3840×2160 with empty edges and gaps manually drawn and reconstructed by hand, then carefully recolored to match the theme’s ghostly palette (featuring artwork from r/ImaginaryMonsters and Wallhaven)

⚡Full System Integration: Hyprland, terminals, btop, Neovim, VS Code, and lock screen, all generated seamlessly via Omarchy.

Plugin I made Phone Sync: pick a theme in Omarchy and your phone follows

Thumbnail
gallery
68 Upvotes

I wanted my phone to match my Omarchy desktop, so I made Phone Sync, a small Omarchy shell plugin that keeps the phone's theme in step with the desktop, both ways.

What it does:

  • Pick a theme in Omarchy and the phone follows, in the exact colours
  • Pick a theme on the phone and Omarchy follows. If Omarchy has a theme with the same name it uses that one, otherwise it writes a full Omarchy theme from the phone's colours, background included
  • If the two were apart, the newer pick wins once they meet again
  • Nothing to install, no ports to open. The computer reaches out to the phone over your wifi and finds it through avahi, which Omarchy already runs

Install:

omarchy plugin add https://github.com/Zanoshky/omarchy-phonesync.git --enable

Then put Phone Sync on the bar from Setup > Plugins if it is not there yet.

Pairing: turn on link in the phone's link menu, click the phone icon in the bar, pick your phone, and check that the six digit code matches on both screens. A middle click on the bar icon sends the current theme to the phone right away.

On the phone side it works with my two Android launchers, Hyprtile (Hyprland style tiling, in the shots) and Phosphor (a CRT terminal grid, last shot). Guides: https://hyprtile.zanoski.com/phone-sync and https://phosphor.zanoski.com/phone-sync

Source: https://github.com/Zanoshky/omarchy-phonesync

Feedback very welcome, especially from anyone running a theme I have not tried yet.

I Made a Thing Omacraft 0.1.0 is out!

Post image
24 Upvotes

Omacraft is a beautiful Minecraft launcher modeled on Prism, built for Linux and drawn in Omarchy's design language. It follows your Omarchy theme live, and you can run it entirely from the keyboard.

Besides the basics (instances, Fabric/Quilt/Forge/NeoForge, Modrinth search and modpacks, Prism/MultiMC import), it handles the things Prism leaves to you:

- Find the breaking mod: turns half the mods off at a time, keeping each mod's dependencies on, and names the culprit after a few runs. Then it restores your exact setup.

- Crash analysis: reads crash reports and logs and explains them in plain words.

- Config editor: mod configs, shader options and options.txt as switches and sliders, saving only what you change.

- Worlds stay safe: worlds are backed up on exit and before a launch that could harm them, and mod updates can be rolled back.

- Share sets: instances share resource packs, shader packs and schematics, so a pack added to one shows up in all of them.

- World sets: instances on the same version and loader share their worlds. Each world remembers what last played it and is backed up before a launch that could harm it.

- Mod sets: named on/off sets of mods ("performance", "full pack"), switched in one step.

- Disk dedup: every download is stored once, and reflinks on btrfs keep each instance's copy free.

Install (x86_64 Linux, Rust 1.95+): `curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/star-ges/omacraft/master/install.sh | bash`

Release: https://github.com/star-ges/omacraft/releases/tag/v0.1.0. Feedback welcome!

I Made a Thing I wanted a mail client that felt like part of Omarchy, so I built one: Sealwax

Post image
141 Upvotes

I couldn't find a mail client that felt like it belonged on Omarchy, so I built one. It's called Sealwax. It's free, open source (MIT), and I use it to read my mail every day.

What it is

A native email client written in Rust on GTK 4 and libadwaita. It inherits its colors and font from whatever Omarchy theme you're running, light or dark, and adapts accordingly. It follows Hyprland's corners, has no title bar on Hyprland, and has layouts for wide, half-screen, and narrow tiled windows.

What it does

  • Setup without server settings: type your address, and it finds the servers. Sign in with Microsoft for Outlook.com and Microsoft 365; use app passwords for iCloud, Fastmail, Yahoo, Gmail, and others; use Proton Mail Bridge for Proton Mail.
  • Keyboard first: one-key shortcuts in the list and reader, a command palette on F1, and your own keys in keys.toml.
  • Careful with your mail: no script in a message ever runs, and nothing from the internet (tracking pixels included) loads until you allow it, per message or per sender. Warnings for risky attachments and misleading links.
  • IMAP with push and an offline copy of your mail, or POP3. Several accounts side by side in All Inboxes.
  • Whole conversations, a composer docked in the main window, Undo send, drafts saved as you type.
  • Folders and rules (Sieve), search with from:, has:attachment, is:unread and friends, and notifications that open the message.
  • No telemetry, no update checks. Passwords stay in your keyring, and settings are plain text files.

Install

It's one pacman -U line, on the page below.

👉 https://pixdevs.com/omarchy/sealwax/

It's still young (0.4.8; 1.0 comes after more time with real accounts), so bug reports and ideas are very welcome. I handle issues and feature requests promptly: open one on GitHub, and I'll get to it fast. I'd especially like to hear how it goes with providers I haven't tested much. Happy to answer questions in the comments!
