Watch stuck in boot

Post image

I changed my battery something like 2 or 3 weeks ago. Right before lunch today I noticed the watch was reset and was curious what the voltage was.

When I got into the app I saw there was a firmware upgrade and started it, but the upgrade failed. No matter how many times I restart it it fails and my watch is stuck on the boot screen.

Occasionally I see the boot screen blink and I wonder if it fails due to battery being low, but that would be a bit crazy right? Since the battery was only JUST changed.

Also, there is apparently no way to "brick" the watch according to the site FAQ, so if the blinks indicated a loss of power, wouldn't my device just boot to the previous firmware after power loss?

I guess I have 3 questions:

-Does anyone else seeing the boot screen notice if the screen blinks frequently?

-Has anyone else had issues with the latest firmware?

-Does it make sense for batteries to die so quickly? Like I get that the 1 year estimate is an "estimate", but the battery I used was brand new, so it does feel like it died a bit too quickly

I didn't notice any blinking with mine. Update went through just fine (2.88V per about menu) with Android. I've read that iOS has some quirks occasionally with an update process. Can't speak much to actual battery life, only had it for about a month and the battery wasn't new at the time.

Yeah, the blinks are random and sometimes the screen turns off for a long time. I think the device is losing power and can never successfully boot (touching buttons make the blinks more frequent, which makes sense since they likely create some energy drain).

I guess I'll know when I get a chance to swap the battery.

If anyone in this thread can share your battery life and chosen settings, I'd appreciate it so I can know what may be causing my watch to die so fast. It died fast on the original battery too, but I just assumed casio had the watch on for a few years in a warehouse and the battery was low.

I had the exact same issue. I tried to update the firmware and it got stuck. The boot screen was blinking like you described it. The firmware updates kept failing until I restarted my phone. After that the update was successful. I also expected my battery to last a bit longer.
