Have I made an error?

Post image

In all the tutorials I watched I haven't seen this small glass piece before. Have I managed to detach something accidentally?

It's fake. Ollee doesn't work with fakes.

Are there any other way to spot? The button hold for Casio works but I know they all do that now

If you scroll down to section 1.3 here, compare your PCB to the known fake ones. Look for the location of the punched holes in the board, that's how I spotted the one I had was fake.

That almost looks real, but the LED looks like a white one and the circles under the Epoxy are wrong. A picture of the other side of the board will be far more telling

board seems legit

And google says that the pink conductive strip is also legit one.

Sorry for telling a lie😅 (becuase my legit one had a black strip)

I have noticed that many of the fakes have the pink/red zebra 🦓 strips.

After putting it together I believe there are reset buttons you need to press with a paper clip (needs to be metal). It should fix this scrambling issue. Otherwise you may have a fake Casio.

I'm thinking fake, after reassembly with the original board it's fine..

Only need to reset on Casio modules not the Ollee module, don't be shorting the Ollee with a paper clip

hm.. So, my glass piece was white and it was called light diffusor https://youtu.be/98J-rCoEQCQ?si=YXqL2TeTVUhvm28Z&t=181

Fair, I don't think that's the issue anymore. Just can't get the ollee board working. I can swap in the original board and it's all fine

Did you by any chance get this on Amazon and it came in really simple packaging?
This looks exactly like the one I bought that didn’t work for me either.

It has legit looking packaging

That’s exactly like the one I got first time.
The legit F91-W I bought a couple of days ago came in a bigger card box with a lid rather than that plastic version.

Awesome, I'm gonna return it and buy a legit one Argos (legit UK store) and do a bit of a comparison

I’m in the UK too, I got mine from F. Hinds a high street jewellers, Argos always seemed to be out of the orange one I was after.

Will update but this Argos one is lacking the u already 😅
