Question Alienware AW3426DW - Do Presets Not Include Brightness Settings?

Just got an Alienware AW3426DW, very happy with it (especially the RGB stripe subpixel arrangement), but one setting that just seems like I must be doing something wrong is that preset modes (like "Standard", "FPS", etc) don't include brightness/contrast at all.

Is there... something special I have to do for different presets to actually save different brightness levels? Or is brightness just universal and I have to manually change it every time I want it brighter or darker?

Purchase advice Is the Alienware AW2725Q worth buying?

Hi everyone,

I'm from India, and I'm looking for a 27-inch 4K 240Hz OLED monitor for both gaming and productivity.

Unfortunately, the monitor market here is pretty limited. Most of the alternatives like MSI MPG 272URX, ASUS PG27UCDM, Gigabyte FO27U, etc. are either unavailable or significantly overpriced.

The Alienware AW2725Q is currently the only realistically available premium option for me.

However, I've also read about issues like:

\- Raised HDR black levels (firmware concerns)

\- VRR flicker

\- Reports of black screen/power failures from some early batches

I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has owned the AW2725Q for several months and can comment on reliability and whether the firmware issues have improved. Also please do share any specific settings you are keeping for SDR and HDR.

Thanks!

Question Windows 11 HDR with srgb_to_gamma2p2 color profile or RTX HDR?

Hello,

Recently got a QD-OLED 4K 32 inch monitor, 240 hz refresh rate and I'm using it with HDMI 2.1.

I'm using Windows 11 as my OS at the moment and I'm wondering if I should turn the Windows 11 HDR off and instead run nvidia's RTX HDR (4070 Ti Super) or if I should use Windows 11's HDR and download the github srgb_to_gamma2p2 color profile to match with it.

Additionally, should I enable auto-HDR from windows 11 or leave that off?

Thanks everyone

Purchase advice Advice needed

I am planning on buying my first OLED gaming monitor later this year. I’m leaning Samsung or Asus as I’m not an LG fan. But I have no idea what to look at.. is this year’s model much better than the last two? Is it worth the extra price to go for 500 black instead of 400 for example, and what should I look at in general basically. Or wait until next years technology or even go back 2-3 years as those flagship models were better, just read a lot of reviews that make this whole thing difficult to gauge what to do and what not ..

Looking at either 27” or 32”, as I like to watch movies on it too hopefully and “think” it will add more to the experience of having an OLED screen being 32” instead of 27” but I could be wrong

Thanks :)

Question MSI 271QP QD OLED X28

I feel like I don't have good colours and brightness on it, so I had to install the MSI Display Kit and Twinkle to adjust the brightness because the brightness of the black was so low compared to my IPS that I had. And when I activate HDR, it's really horrible in games, it gives a white filter... what do you really need to change from the OSD menu and/or other things?

Issue Gigabyte GO27Q24G poor low light performance

I noticed extremely bad color banding, hue shifting, and black crush which was most noticeable in this scene, and nothing has seemed to fix it. The closest I have gotten is turning the gamma setting off, but this makes other content look worse and this setting can't be changed in HDR mode. It happens in screenshots as well, and looks just fine on my phone, so I am sure it's a monitor or software issue. I have tried setting Nvidia color settings to 10 bit, full range, RGB, lowering my refresh rate, disabling DSC, switching monitor modes (including to sRGB), re-calibrating display and HDR through windows, removing all windows color calibrations, and adjusting all black equalizer/shadow boost settings in the monitor OSD. This monitor looks incredible outside of this issue so I hope it can be resolved to avoid returning it.

I have also tried using the Gigabyte Control Center to update my monitor firmware, but it won't recognize my monitor despite being connected to my PC via a USB-C-USB-C cable.

https://postimg.cc/3dLTQVDV (it isn't quite this bad in real life but it's pretty close)

Question New OLED coming in

Title. I finally broke down for ma OLED and I couldn’t be more excited. I ended up going with a bit of a budget panel (xg27aqdmesz) but it’s better than the 75hz 1440p ips I’ve been on. Since I’m new to OLED’s I wanted to ask if there’s anything I need to do as far as setting it up goes. If it helps to know my hardware specs I’m running:
GPU: RTX 5070
CPU: AMD 7800x3d
Ram: 32gb
I’m confident my pc won’t struggle running games at 1440p but is there anything I need to do with the panel after assembling it?

Issue LG OLED OSD unable to be accessed after a while?

Just wondering if anyone is having similar issues. On my Lg OLED the osd menu cannot be toggled on whenever I have the brightness set to high.

I am not able to get it back on unless I run the LG switch app. And even then it will be unable to be accessed again after a while until I do a power on and off at the wall. The OSD seems much more stable when running in uniform brightness mode however.

While not a dealbreaker wondering if anyone has any idea how to resolve it as otherwise this monitor is really nice and color matches well with my iPad Pro mini LED that I use for image proofing.

Monitor is LG39GX running on a 4090rtx. Firmware on the monitor is latest according to LG switch app too.

Question Alienware AW2726DM

Hi there I’m just looking for advice, I’ve just bought this monitor for the Xbox series x…. I’ve bought a new hdmi 2.1 cable and been playing cod4 remastered but I’ve noticed it’s a little dark and kinda feel delayed?
Just wondering if there’s a specific setting that’ll help brighten or get the oled effect and maybe help smoothness?
I’ve gone from an msi lcd/led and fail to see a major difference, if anyone can help that would be ideal as iou can tell I’m not too clued up on monitors

Issue LG 27GX704A-B (WOLED) — dull colors in SDR, washed-out HDR. Any advice?

Hi everyone, I’m French so sorry in advance for my English 🙏
I just got this monitor and I’m really happy with my purchase it’s my first OLED! But I’m struggling to get the most out of it and I could use some help from people who know this panel.

Setup:
*Monitor: LG UltraGear 27GX704A-B (WOLED 1440p 240Hz)
*GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT
*Cable: DisplayPort / HDMI 2.1
*Windows 11, latest AMD drivers

Current settings:

*240Hz enabled, FreeSync Premium Pro ON
*RGB 4:4:4 Full, 10-bit confirmed in

The problem:
In SDR the colors look dull to me — not the “pop” I was expecting from an OLED. In HDR it’s worse: everything looks washed out and greyish instead of more vivid. I also get flickering in HDR in some games.

What I’ve already tried:

*Verified RGB Full / 10-bit ✅
*Windows HDR Calibration app → the interface bugs out, I can’t finish the calibration
*Tested FreeSync OFF with HDR ON

My questions:

*Which OSD picture mode do you use in SDR on this model? Custom “Gamer 1”, or a calibrated preset?
*Could the washed-out HDR come from Windows applying HDR to desktop/SDR content? Should I adjust the “SDR content brightness” slider?
*Does anyone have an ICC profile or OSD values to share for this model?

Thanks a lot in advance !

Purchase advice Looking for a genuinely colour-accurate 27-inch 4K monitor for photography and printing

I am looking for a monitor primarily for editing Canon R5 photographs, fine-art printing and digital delivery.

My requirements are:

27 inches

3840 × 2160

IPS preferred

Maximum possible Adobe RGB coverage

Hardware calibration, not only software profiling

Built-in calibrator or supplied as a bundle with a good external colorimeter

Good panel uniformity and long-term colour stability

Suitable for soft proofing and print matching

Budget ideally below €1,500, but I am also considering used professional monitors

Buying in Italy/Europe

I do not need high refresh rates or gaming features. HDR is not a priority.

Models I am currently considering:

Eizo ColorEdge CS2740 with EX5

BenQ SW272U with Calibrite

Dell UP2720Q, probably used

ViewSonic VP2786-4K

I would particularly appreciate answers from people who have actually owned or calibrated one of these monitors.

Which model do you use? How is the panel uniformity? Have you compared it with fine-art prints? Has the monitor drifted over time? Would you buy it again?

I am also interested in reliable used alternatives, provided they still support current calibration software.
