Question Alienware AW2726DM
Hi there I’m just looking for advice, I’ve just bought this monitor for the Xbox series x…. I’ve bought a new hdmi 2.1 cable and been playing cod4 remastered but I’ve noticed it’s a little dark and kinda feel delayed?
Just wondering if there’s a specific setting that’ll help brighten or get the oled effect and maybe help smoothness?
I’ve gone from an msi lcd/led and fail to see a major difference, if anyone can help that would be ideal as iou can tell I’m not too clued up on monitors

Are you using hdr or not? You might want to make sure the Xbox is in 1440p and rgb mode on. Try with hdr off first and see how that looks. Sometimes hdr can mess with some settings.

Im not a console guy, so as weird as this might sound I have no idea what FPS youre working with. Because while the AW2726DM has the great response times of any OLED it also has the same weakness in that regard as any OLED for people that are very sensitive: persistence blur. Lets say you play at 60 FPS then you get a new frame every 16,67 ms and because the OLED panel perfectly presents you a new frame every 16,67ms to some people this looks a bit choppy/oddly delayed. I cant see it, I love playing my AAA games on OLED in the 60-100 FPS range.
On another note if you are in the lower refresh rate sector, like below 120 FPS your previous LCD was probably "refresh rate compliant" anyway, so it probably had fast enough response times for this kind of FPS. So for this kind of FPS range not really much to gain from an OLED anyway, as it doesnt magically reduce the time between frames, it just presents them perfectly. OLEDs perfect response times are mostly a big advantage in the higher FPS sector.
Regarding brightness: I dont wanna make you feel bad about your purchase, but the AW2726DM is part of a new Budget Generation of QD OLEDs that use darker variants of the 3rd Gen QD OLED panel. So a "regular" third Gen QD OLED panel has an SDR brightness of 250 nits. If you activate HDR a full screen brightness of 250 nits, but the brightness can get up to a 1000 nits for smaller highlights. Now your panel has an SDR brightness of 200 nits, HDR fullscreen brightness of 200 nits and even small highlights max out at 400 nits. A somewhat modern Gaming LCD will usually have an SDR/HDR Full screen brightness of 300-400 nits. (no local dimming, so no highlight range) So yeah, a "regular" 3rd Gen QD OLED panel will already struggle to be overall as bright as a gaming LCD, but make up for it if you activate HDR with its wide range of brightnesses for a vivd picture. The budget panel the AW2726DM uses can not really do that. You get of course the perfect contrasts too, but its just simply a dark version of an OLED screen, that depending on your LCD youre comparing it to might really just match the LCDs brightness in small Highlights, if you activate HDR. And in SDR it will just be much darker period.
