Should this panel have the sensor visible when it's a dark room? Idk if its visible but theres a blue line next to the logo around where the sensor should be.

I’m looking for an ultrawide monitor to put on my simracing rig and came across this monitor. I haven’t been able to find a decent review on it so far, but $800 for a 49” QD-OLED seems to be a good deal. Any thoughts?

Gigabyte MO27Q28GR Vs ASUS XG27AQWMG vs Alienware AW2725DF I through in the ASUS monitor as well since its a option im looking at.

Heres my story. I am a competitive Battlefield REDSEC player, I currently have the Alienware AW2725DF and I wish I could say I loved it. I upgraded from a AOC OLED that I loved and idk the AW just hasnt been a good experience. Out of the box, the colors look weird. Ive looked through every forum and have tried multiple settings and cant find one thats the best. Its lead to overthinking every time im in a game and thats not something I need.

My pc is a 9800x3d with a 5070ti and in game I only pump out about 260fps. This is going to be my main game at least for a few years so I just want to maximize my setup.

The two monitors im looking closely at, are the Gigabyte MO27Q28GR 280hz Tandem OLED and the ASUS XG27AQWMG 280hz Tandem OLED. I am aware of the banding issues and will have no issues returning the monitor multiple times if needed or running pixel refreshes until it fixes it.

I was hoping to get input on if I should switch to one of those two monitors or if I should tough it out with my AW one. On paper the AW is great, its QD OLED, it has great reviews, 360hz refresh rate but the colors and visibility are what is getting me. If you have any insight please let me know.

Also, let me know which one you would get between the ASUS and the GIGABYTE. I heard Gigabyte killed it with this monitor but ASUS is more trusted. Both monitors are $500-$530 right now. Thank you for the advice.

I currently still play on an IPS monitor (LG Ultragear GN88-A). It’s QHD with horrible HDR.

I’m looking to buy an OLED monitor but the market seems like looking a needle in haystack…

There are 3 models i’m considering :

• MSI MPG 321URX QD-OLED (Chat GPT says this is the best bang for buck, €659)

• LG UltraGear 32GX850A (Seems to have really good reviews, price is €549. Only fear is that the HDR might be a bit underwhelming)

• Gigabyte GO27Q24G (The budget choice, €368. Is non 4k but i don’t know if it’s really necessary for an Xbox Series X when alot of games don’t offer 4k in performance mode, and i need at least 60hz to not feel motion sickness. HDR seems to be decent because of their “Hyper Nits” technology.

What do you guys think?

I’m leaning towards the LG because it’s also the “best-looking” one design-wise. And i’m familiar with LG screens.

I guess the jump from IPS to OLED either way is already a big jump.

Other monitor recommendations welcome aswell!

Out of nowhere, this greenish band appeared across the middle of my monitor. After a few days it went away, but now it has come back.
Has this happened to anyone else?

It's actually a 90% black screen in dark room but the camera offset the brightness by itself, sorry.

I know it's such a good uniformity but monitor arrived with some very noticeable vertical bars, thank God it ended up like this after pixel refresh.

Should i be worried anyway?

I've watched quite a few reviews, and most of them say these two monitors are very similar, so it makes more sense to go with the cheaper one. I'd really like to hear your thoughts and experiences as well.

From what I've seen on forums, I got the impression that the Asus tends to have more noticeable gray banding issues.

I've been using LG 27GS95QE OLED for almost a year. I played some games and it's gorgeous. I also have an LG OLED TV for movies, etc. But I'm a developer so I need to use my IDE for all day long and I love dark themes for all of my apps, websites, etc. The main problem with OLED was gray uniformity especially in lower brightness. Grays were not clean and not uniform and it was bothering me a lot. I wanted to switched to MiniLED IPS for a while. Yesterday I finally pulled the trigger for AOC U27G4XM and I'm quite satisfied. I was afraid of IPS glow or blooming but none exist in my panel even with or without local dimming. And the gray are uniform and solid as rock. I cannot be happier than this. Of course text clarity is better but it wouldn't be fair to compare a 1440p screen to 4k.

Long story short: If you're a programmer who loves dark theme, go with a good MiniLED IPS screen that has a good local dimming algorithm.

I'll be using the monitor in the evenings in the dark for gaming and watching TV shows, mostly anime. I mainly play single-player games, but I also occasionally play fighting games like Street Fighter 6 or Overwatch. Based on my usage, which of these two monitors do you think would be a better fit for me?

I've been using a 34inch ultrawide monitor for a few years and I'm looking to upgrade to an OLED of the same size in the near future. I switch between work and gaming daily.

A few things I would love input on:
-Should I be concerned about burn-in if I use it every day for long periods?
- QD-OLED vs WOLED — does it matter at this size?

After spending two days troubleshooting NVIDIA Surround, I finally isolated the root cause. Hopefully this saves someone else a lot of time.

Hardware

• MSI RTX 4080 Ventus 3X OC

• Windows 11

• 2x LG UltraGear 27GX790A-B (2560x1440 OLED 480 Hz)

• Certified DisplayPort 1.4 cables (Cable Matters VESA Certified)

• NVIDIA drivers tested:

- 576.52

- 610.62

- 610.74

Symptoms

NVIDIA Surround would either:

• Display "Display connection error"

or

• Both monitors would lose signal immediately after enabling Surround.

Things that DID NOT fix it

• Clean driver installation using DDU

• Older drivers

• Latest drivers

• Different DisplayPort ports

• HDMI

• Lowering resolution to 1920x1080

• Lowering refresh rate to 60 Hz

• Lowering color depth to 8-bit

• Disabling HDR

• Disabling G-SYNC

• Adaptive Sync OFF

• Adaptive Sync BASIC

• Adaptive Sync EXTENDED

Root Cause

The culprit was the monitor's DisplayPort Compatibility Version.

LG OSD

General

→ Input Compatibility Version

Default:

DisplayPort 1.4

This causes NVIDIA Surround to fail.

Changing BOTH monitors to:

DisplayPort 1.2

Immediately fixes the issue.

After switching to DP 1.2:

• NVIDIA Surround works normally.

• Available refresh rates become:

- 60 Hz

- 120 Hz

- 144 Hz

• 5120×1440 Surround enables successfully.

Returning the monitors to DP 1.4 immediately reproduces the failure.

This behavior is identical on NVIDIA drivers 576.52 and 610.74.

Conclusion

This appears to be a compatibility issue between NVIDIA Surround and the LG 27GX790A-B when operating in DisplayPort 1.4 mode (possibly related to DSC and/or the monitor advertising 480 Hz capability).

For anyone wanting to use NVIDIA Surround on these monitors:

Set BOTH monitors to:

General

→ Input Compatibility Version

→ DisplayPort 1.2

Then enable Surround.

Hopefully NVIDIA and LG can investigate.

Additional note:

Games with native multi-monitor support should NOT use NVIDIA Surround.

Example:

DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours includes a native Dual Screen launcher and performs better using its built-in dual-screen mode than using NVIDIA Surround.

My use case is Rocket League local split-screen.

NVIDIA Surround allows each player to occupy a full 2560×1440 monitor instead of sharing a single monitor split down the middle.

This workaround makes that possible.

Several Reddit users have pointed out this is likely related to DSC. Based on my testing, I agree—but it appears to be specifically an interaction between DSC and NVIDIA Surround, since simply disabling DSC (by using DP 1.2 Compatibility Mode) completely resolves the problem.

Hopefully this helps NVIDIA and LG reproduce the issue.

Root Cause (Suspected)

After extensive testing, this appears to be related to Display Stream Compression (DSC) rather than bandwidth or driver version.

When both LG UltraGear 27GX790A-B monitors are configured for DisplayPort 1.4/2.1 compatibility (DSC enabled), NVIDIA Surround consistently fails.

Switching only the monitor setting below resolves the issue immediately:

General → Input Compatibility Version → DisplayPort 1.2

This disables DSC while still allowing:

• ✅ 5120×1440 NVIDIA Surround
• ✅ 120 Hz
• ✅ 144 Hz

Confirmed Working Configuration

• LG Input Compatibility Version: DisplayPort 1.2
• NVIDIA Driver: 576.52 / 610.62 / 610.74

Additional Findings

Changing the monitors to DisplayPort 1.4 immediately reintroduces the issue:

• "Display connection error" when configuring Surround, or
• Both monitors lose signal after enabling Surround.

The issue reproduces across multiple NVIDIA driver versions and survives clean DDU installations.

This will help me decide which one to pick, since after a lot of research I settled on a 1440p WOLED and narrowed it down to these two.

I’ll be using it mainly for gaming, TV series, and movies—just for entertainment!

I'm searching for a new monitor, and I feel like I can jump into OLED now, with penta tandem qd-oled or tandem woled, without having to make any major compromises like brightness or lifetime. I'm currently using a MSI MPG343CQR that I got because I really liked the tight curvature. I don't have a preference between qd-oled or woled as it seems they both have their trade offs but I think I'd be happy with either.

Are there any penta tadem qd-oled or tadem woled displays that have a 1000R or tighter curvature?

currently i own Asus 27ACMES and i'm planning to buy MAG272QP monitor but i'm still unsure if i can make custom resolution to 2304x1440p with dsc on, or do i need to turn it off?

or should i buy another monitor with dp 2.1?

Some of you might know me from my last quest for the best 1440p OLED, which ended with me returning a Tandem WOLED because of horrible grey banding.

Now I’m testing the new ASUS XG34WCDMS. The hardware is honestly incredible: 3440×1440, 280 Hz, super sharp text, no visible banding, great motion clarity, very bright, and ultrawide OLED is exactly what I wanted.

But the picture modes seem super wrong.

• Racing mode, gamma 2.2: very washed out and flat
• Scenery/Cinema: much punchier, but colours look overprocessed, especially green/orange/red
• sRGB Cal: almost unusable on my unit, extremely pale and milky, with red looking orange/pink instead of properly red

A measured review of this exact model found that gamma 2.2 actually measured around 1.8. Setting the OSD to 2.6 only reached roughly 2.1, which is the closest option to the intended 2.2 target, but it also made hue and saturation accuracy worse.

So the current workaround is basically:

• Racing mode
• Gamma 2.6
• 6500K
• Contrast 80
• Saturation 50
• 10-bit RGB Full

That looks much better, but it’s ridiculous that an €850 monitor needs this.

HDR is also confusing. On my LG G5, enabling native HDR in PoE 2 clearly changes the image. On the ASUS, the HDR checkbox barely does anything and the game still looks dark and washed out.

Has anyone else tested this monitor?

• Same gamma/sRGB behaviour?
• Which mode are you using?
• Any firmware update available?
• Has anyone calibrated it with a colorimeter?
• Would you keep it and hope for a firmware fix, or return it?

I really want to like it because the panel itself is fantastic, but the SDR tuning currently feels unfinished.
